[He's got chopsticks and he's a good shot. Hmph. Bakugou goes back to his food while Manjoume tries to make up his mind about shit. He's still here for lunch so this isn't the only reason the eternal grump has made his way up to the roof. Avoids issues with other extras trying to sidle up to him while he's eating.

But then there's a slump of cloth next to him as Manjoume takes his seat, bringing with him the two-fold scent of shampoo+clean and the utter olfactory chimera that is his stupid ass coat.]

Tch, as if. I just wanted to make sure the roof was clear so you didn't fluster in front of anyone else.

[Hey give him some credit, he's gotten... slightly better about remembering to wash his dumb coat more often with the rest of his laundry by final year. Now it gets washed at least once a week... then again that still might not be saying much if he still ends up getting a soy sauce stain on his sleeve somewhere every week.

ANYWAY, Manjoume's brow twitches at that remark because fuck acknowledging that Bakugou might be right about that--]

[Old habits die hard. Besides, when you spent a year or two with someone how has poor coat hygiene, certain olfactory imprints remain regardless of how much detergent soaks into the new habit. Soy sauce and fabric freshener are a strange mixture. Not... entirely unpleasant though. At least it's fresh soy sauce and not weeks old stains.

Bakugou picks up another piece from his bento and pops it into his mouth, eyes quietly lingering on his food instead of the other boy beside him. The comment earns a brief twitch of his shoulders.

Bastard...]

Why the fuck would I get flustered over you?!

[Something something the lady doth protests too much.]

Aside from the fact that question right there sounds like you already are, I can think of plenty of reasons.

[However, Manjoume concentrates on his own food for a moment rather than rattle off any of those supposed reasons he can think of, opening his own bento here to take a bite or two of his lunch before he speaks again.]

Ater all, you're the person I've chosen to meet with here today above anyone else. Some might say that's a pretty enviable position to be in, depending on who you ask.

[Asshole. The smarmy answer earns an eye roll and growl before he goes back to his food.]

Give up on it. I don't get "flustered" in the first damn place.

[Even if he knows the very reason as to why Manjoume is here, Bakugou's not about to let any of those feelings things make a show of him. He glances to the side at the Duelist's bento. Simple, but effective. Likely store bought.]

That depends on whether or not you make me regret coming up here.

[He wouldn't think most people would be envious of the one going before the judge/firing squad.]

[Manjoume's bento is in fact school store bought... but only because he isn't using his family's wealth for paying for something potentially better like he would have flaunted back in first year, before he eventually stopped talking to his asshole brothers and decided not to rely on their money so much anymore.

A store bought bento with rice that is now being slowly decimated by Manjoume's chopsticks as he seems to become a little more nervous now at those words. After all, he's the one who has to actually start off here and get the ball rolling on this topic...]

So, I've been thinking about a few things recently. Not just how much has changed going into our third year of school and what's waiting for us after graduation but like... how much both of us have changed too over the past few years since we've met. And how our view of one another might have changed as well by now.

[Or at least Manjoume's own view has, but what about Bakugou? He gives the other a momentary sideways glance up from his bento as he attenpts to gauge whether or not Bakugou has actually thought about this as much about this subject as he has as of late.]

[Bakugou recognized that choice a while ago. Someone who came from a family like the Manjoume wouldn't be seen with a store-bought bento unless they made a conscious choice to do so. He's debated a few reasons in his mind for why the other boy would make the decision. Maturity? Curiosity? Faux blending in to get attention?

Time would reveal the former as the reason.

It might be "mean" to put Manjoume on the spot here, but Bakugou had little respect for people who couldn't go for the things they wanted. Someone who put up a front and couldn't back it up wasn't worth his time. He picks up one of the wraps and bites through the end.]

Might? [He chews the piece a few times before swallowing it.] I watched you go from a competent brat with stupid rich-boy issues to a talented duelist who stands on his own feet under his own power and makes his own path in life. If you think my view of you after all that only "might" have changed, you're still looking down on both of us.

[Approaching this kind of topic with trepidation and hesitance immediately crashes against the explosive hero's prickly exterior. Self-confidence and determination are things he admires, almost expects from people coming into his presence. Bakugou's thought about this quite a bit, but gave Manjoume the onus to make his move.

Yes, he's judging the Duelist.]

Are you really serious about this? Or are you just gonna keep thinking out loud?

[Come at him with your best hand, Manjoume Jun!]

[For a moment, Manjoume scowls, his own prickly exterior being rubbed the wrong way on being called out on this.]

I'm not a mind reader, nor did I think that you would appreciate me making immediate assumptions about how you see me.

[... But, Bakugou is right. He was in some ways being rude and, well, making the assumption that Bakugou only "might" have given this subject any thought and only "might" have recognized how both of them have changed over the years, not just Jun. Because the thing is, Bakugou is capable of self-awareness and maturity when it actually matters.

He thinks again of his first year of school when he had confessed to Asuka--he had little to no hesitation then, had even gone to some pretty cringy lengths to get her to go out with him, and that had ended in disaster. Maybe that was why this time, when he had realized that his feelings for Bakugou had changed, he hadn't immediately raced off to talk to Fubuki-shishou about it to get a long speech about feelings advice, or plan out a grand gesture of poetry or using love-themed cards like for ridiculous duel he and Asuka had. Instead he had dealt with it on his own and trying to wrestle with his conflicting feelings with it. In some ways it feels not unlike how he felt about Juudai until he eventually became willing to admit that they were in fact friends, but now to a much more intense degree in thinking about something that isn't friendship necessarily with Bakugou, a rival of his in a much different manner than Juudai is. He can't really confess via dueling either, because Manjoume is a twig in a physical fight, and Bakugou only attempts playing Duel Monsters casually every once in a while.

But this doesn't necessarily mean he should be acting with hesitation in his approach here, even with his decision to approach this in a more low-key manner, right? So after a moment Manjoume seems to make a decision in the form of putting down his bento to the side, no longer allowing it to be a distraction in his hands to play with. He turns so that he's facing Bakugou a little more properly where he's sitting.]

But fine, I'll just come right out and say it point blank instead of dancing around the subject. I... [A pause, but only for a second to take a breath and just get over these momentary nerves and say it.] I like you. And I don't mean as friends, or just in the general "yeah of course I like them in addition to having a basic level of respect for my rival" type of thing either. I mean in a "I want to date you" type of manner. Will you go out with me?

[He manages to ask it without stuttering and with a straight face, but there are a few signs that he is in fact nervous waiting for Bakugou's potential reaction, such as how his face has a much pinker tinge to it, or how his hands have curled into fists from where they are sitting on his knees now.]

[He expected that reaction. Didn't know Manjoume for three years and not realize what ways to get under his skin. Confrontation, challenge, suggesting he wasn't serious, criticizing his choices. But at the same time, he expected the other boy to have taken into account Bakugou's own personality as well.]

It's not about how I see you. It's how you see yourself that made you say I "might" have changed my view.

[Instead of approaching with confidence and holding himself as matured into a person strong enough to capture Bakugou's attention, Manjoume suggested the other boy simply might have. Some people could read it as politeness, shyness, a hope that it was so, but others could read it as a lack of confidence, putting the onus of attraction on the other person instead.

Bakugou doesn't think Manjoume is that cowardly or lacking in confidence. So damn right he's gonna call him out on that opening hand. Of course, up and saying "I think you like me" wouldn't have gone over well either, and Manjoume isn't dumb enough to approach with that self-destructive impulse. But Bakugou wants to know the other boy, the person who came here to ask him to move into a relationship with him (potentially), is taking this seriously. Not just politeness and tact, but also in being assured that Manjoume is someone who Bakugou would want to be with in the first place.

Manjoume's had plenty of time to think about this as well, as he said. If this is really his aim... fucking go for it. Bakugou's never been in a relationship like this before. Dating hadn't been on his radar as he focused on becoming the greatest hero the world ever saw. Then a national war between heroes and villains broke out. The Duelists had to face off against Yubel and that madness. Dating wasn't much on the list of things to consider. This is new ground for him too.

It's going to take time and effort on his part to navigate through. He wants a partner who'll be strong enough and mature enough to stand by him while he does so. That kind of demand isn't promised with a damn "might".

When Manjoume puts his bento down, obviously squaring his proverbial shoulders in preparation, Bakugou leaves his chopsticks to rest against a tomato, giving the other boy his focus. Bring it on. Point blank.

And he does. The blonde goes silent for a few seconds, eyes widening just a bit. Okay, he asked for it straight up. Didn't really expect for the "date" word to come out immediately. Wait... His face feels a little hot. SHIT! Bakugou immediately tries to shove the tiny flush back down. Focus on something else! Like Manjoume's coat collar or his ridiculous hair! The blonde's mostly-calm expression manages to offer some cover for the sudden rush in his chest. Dammit. Brace for something so hard, you still get sucker punched when asking for it!

He presses his lips together in a line, silent breath escaping above. Then sets his chopsticks down. Manjoume did everything he asked. Unspoken and spoken. Confidence. Explanation. Request. He should ask him what he'd get out of dating him. Ask him why Bakugou should date him. Really make him sell himself...

...except Bakugou knows Manjoume.]

Baka. [Fingers close around one side of that flared collar and with a solid jerk, Bakugou hauls Manjoume over (good thing he set his bento to the side) and kisses him full on the mouth. A tang of soy, the mild flavor of rice, something entirely Manjoume in addition. It lasts for a few seconds before he relaxes his hand and lets the other boy slide back a bit.] Took you long enough, Duelist.

[thundercrashes]

[Manjoume takes note of the widened eyes, and for a second he feels a little smug that he managed to get that reaction out of the other boy, as slight as it was.

But then Bakugou calls him an idiot, and for that split second before the other moves, there's that momentary feeling of fear. One that wedges into his chest like a sudden splinter, slight as that is too, that Manjoume's about to be laughed at or rejected. Things he won't be reacting all that well to if both are done at the same time.

The fingers in his collar go to pull him in though, not to push him away, and just that one simple action even before their lips meet is actually all it takes to ease that splinter back out--Manjoume can be a little thick sometimes, but he's not so dumb that he can't guess what Bakugou is about to do. And he accepts it, allows it easily. (Though it is Manjoume's first kiss, so it is perhaps a little awkward.)

There's still a little embarrassment though once the other lets go and lets him sit back again momentarily (albeit not as far back as he had been before), his face even pinker than before.]

Hey, at least I actually said something here first. You could have just as easily confessed to us sooner if you felt the same, you know.

[As controlled with his emotions (most of them) as Bakugou says he is, even if he'd been prepared for it, there's something about another guy saying he likes you and wants to date you that just spears right through all that armor and lands a hit in the chest. Probably helped with the reality Bakugou actually likes the guy back...

He recognizes that brief flicker of fear. Baka. Really. As if Bakugou would call him all the way up here after their texts just to turn him down. What a waste of time and effort that would be on his part. The young hero already knew his own answer before Manjoume opened the fucking door. What he wanted... was to see how serious the duelist was about it. So he could respond in kind and leave no shred of doubt in Manjoume's mind that he was wanted in return.

Complete and undisputed victory.

No need for words. Just a grab, haul, and kiss. Won't admit it, but it's his first as well. There's a tiny skip of his heart, knowing even with an "i like you" confession, Manjoume never agreed to get hauled in bodily for a kiss so suddenly. Could get punched... but instead, Bakugou's not only accepted, but allowed and returned.

Doesn't matter if it's awkward; Manjoume kissed him back.

Bakugou eases off, leaving his hand to slide down the front of the duelist's coat and end up on his own lap again. He rests his chin on his fist, elbow cruxxed in his knee. Can't stop the brief flick of his tongue across his lower lip. Or the faint sakura color under his eyes. Dammit...]

So you want me to steal your thunder next time. Got it.

[Oh yeah, that was deliberate.]

[So Manjoume may have found his gaze dropping briefly to the movement of the other's tongue across the bottom lip, but his gaze comes back up proper as he gives Bakugou an unamused look.]

That's not what I was saying and you know it.

[But he doesn't actually make a demand for Bakagou to say it too, that he likes Manjoume and so on and yes, they are dating now. The kiss was enough of an answer to make that obvious.

Pretty sure that's why he can get away with very noticeably staring at the other's mouth more like he had been a second ago: they're boyfriends now so hey, that's allowed now without it being too weird, right.]

[As soon as that grumpy expression appears on his face, Bakugou's turns into a smirk quite the opposite. Figured he'd rub a nerve. Too bad. Taunting Manjoume with his preferred nickname was never gonna get old.]

Uh-huh. [There are a lot of reasons he could claim as to why he didn't voice up to his own feelings, but what good would it do to bring them up now? Besides, he always felt actions spoke louder than words, and were usually less embarrassing since they were, arguably, over faster...

That kiss was his answer and should've said everything he had to. For now. Bakugou's not silent by any means. He'll probably say things in the future. And definitely notice the way Manjoume's looking at his mouth again.]

You better make some time this weekend.

[They're gonna have their first date after all. But before that... Bakugou leans over, this time not grabbing or yanking Manjoume, instead simply bringing himself in and tilting his head to find his mouth once more. A lighter kiss, less forceful and demanding, more to explore this new between them.]

Funny, I was about to say the same thing.

[They are absolutely having their first date as soon as possible... god willing no last minute bullshit happens involving supervillains and/or card games get in the way of that.

He is going to be extremely pissed otherwise by that kind of bad timing.

But then Bakugou is kissing him again, this time with more gentleness than Manjoume might have actually expected of the other boy. Not that he's complaining--far from it, in fact, as he finally lifts one of his own hands up to rest on Bakugou's arm heree so that he can tilt his head, and get a better angle for it from where he's sitting.]

[Luckily with their massive nation-ending and world-destroying wars out of the way, it should be a quiet weekend. If any villain did show up to interrupt his date, Dynamight would be cracking a fucking skull as fast as possible to get back to what he really wanted to do.

Bastard trying to mess up his first date... It'd be a near fatal mistake. Delta Hurricane that bitch.

Thoughts a little further from mind right now as he leans into the kiss. One part completely focused on the sensation and feeling, one part taking in all the details he can. A hand settles on his arm and he subtly lifts it into the touch, muscle hardening on instinct as Manjoume tilts his head to better fit into the touch.

Finally breaking it with a soft breath.]

Better...

[thundercrashes]

[Manjoume would almost want to see Bakugou kick ass on their date if it happened... provided that Manjoume is not made the damsel in distress or some stupid shit in this hypothetical scenario. That would just be humiliating.

But enough thinking about hypotheticals when they could be focusing on the present.]

Good.

[Manjoume actually smiles now, one of his rare softer expressions after hearing Bakugou's praise. He doesn't remove his hand from the other's arm, but he does lean back a bit again as he suddenly remembers their forgotten bentos that had been put aside.]

Should we continue this after we finish eating? The food's going to get cold otherwise.

[If he wants to kick on that Duel Disk and help out with with some battles, he's welcome to go for it. But Bakugou's going to do his damnest to end that annoying interference as fast as possible. (If Manjoume ends up the damsel in distress, that's his issue.)

The kiss broken, some of that first-time spell also fades. Bakugou's pushing the fluttery feeling back down in his guts. No way is he going to admit he's got any of that going on.

THAT SOFTER SMILE DOESN'T HELP HIM DO THAT!!

Ugh, bastard probably doesn't even realize he's doing that. Bakugou sits back against the fence, arm flexing under Manjoume's hand. Right, they have food sitting around them in various states of consumption...]

Mine wasn't heated up in the first place.

[Maybe back in first year, Manjoume would not care about letting food potentially go to waste because, well, he was rich, he can just buy something again twice over for both of them, but now he sighs and forces himself to lean back further instead of spending the rest of their lunch kissing his new boyfriend.]

Even so, we should probably at least finish eating first while we still have time up here.

[Wow. The epitome of maturity. A rich boy who now gave a fuck about not wasting food. Bakugou would've given him shit about wasting food, however. He's a responsible kind despite his delinquent attitude. Once Manjoume decides, he takes his seat beside him again and pulls his bento back into his lap to continue eating. Though does silently hold his chopsticks out with a piece of eggroll between them. Should his boyfriend want to take a sample...]

After dinner, wanna get a movie or game, or want something more active?

[Weekend date plans already.]

[Oh... well, if Bakugou is offering, then Manjoume is accepting as he eats the sample of food being offered, before holding up his own chopsticks with a sample from his bento to offer in return.]

I haven't been to a movie in forever, so I have no idea what's playing that might be good, unless you know of one you wanted to see. Otherwise, I'm game for just about anything.

[He's already secretly pleased just by the fact that it's going to be a date as it is.]

[No one else would get such an offering and Bakugou would've sneered at someone offering him the same in return. But considering he just kissed Manjoume and they're gonna be dating, well... boyfriend privileges unlocked. So he takes the bite, using his teeth to hold it rather than dragging his lips across his chopsticks. Some decency exists.]

Action, hero, heist, any of those three are good for me. [Romances, comedies, dramas, documentaries will all bore him. Might as well start categories and narrow it down from there.]

Really? You don't get bored by those premises, despite already living the life of a hero yourself?

[This isn't a snub, by the way, this is Manjoume being genuinely curious--he likes playing Duel Monsters, but he himself might get bored if all he ever watched was movies about the game. (But then again, this is the same guy who is secretly a sucker for romance movies thanks to the amount he's likely ended up watching with Fubuki-shishou, so maybe his opinion on movies should be regarded with a grain of salt here.)]

Hell no! [Says the guy who grew up on All Might cartoons and movies. Heroes for life!] That shit's exciting and keeps my attention. It's even better knowing I might get to replicate something I see in them.

[That's him, wanting to jump over a car and knock down a bank robber or defuse a bomb like a badass. Actually he'd prefer people not get in trouble, since heroes shouldn't actively wish for villainous things to happen, buuut...

Why be a hero with the intent to never be a hero?]

You don't watch high-stakes Dueling films?

[Sure Manjoume's literally played high stakes Duel Monsters, but you know, sometimes fiction can be crazier than real life. Sometimes. (You might be able to talk him into a romance film, Manjoume. Might. Rarely...)]

Not all that often: I watch high stakes tournaments, of course, but the problem with movies is in how the outcome of the match is already predetermined because a movie script dictates who is supposed to win for the sake of the plot. It kind of kills the fun sometimes when you remember that the two duelists you're watching are just acting, at least for me.

[Like one of those people who hates watching sports and prefers playing them instead.]

[Bakugou's giving him a flat expression. Talk about someone who over analyzes his movies.]

That's the point of a movie, dumbass. You suspend that part of your brain for a bit.

[He knows, going into a hero film or a heist film, that the "good guys" are going to win or succeed in the end. That's part of the understood aspect of watching fictional stories. No one likes to leave a movie feeling sad, disappointed, upset, or basically shit. Great way to fuck up your date too.]

Though I guess they don't make Dueling movies with world-at-stake plots as often as Hero films battling villains out for world dominion.

[No, he gets where Manjoume is coming from. Same as how he rolls his eyes at comedies or romances because why not just go outside and try life for yourself instead of watching someone else's?
