[Katsuki doesn't cook special for him. (Most of the time.)

He washes his hands and face before getting inside so at least he's presentable without hot sauce decorating his lips.

And there goes the introduction spiel. Katsuki pays attention to the rules, not having done one of these before. The restrictions on phones and items are fine, and of course he's not going to destroy things; this is an escape room, not a stress room.

Still sounds interesting.]

[ Leaves off the spice special? Whatever the case may be. Izuku's also fine with just dying let's be honest.

The first one is the advanced version. Then the expert, then the mystery. The advanced course room they're ushered into is - well, a very small entry way with two locked doors and several bookshelves. There's two doors to enter in, side by side, and they're each meant to go through one - they have to speak back and forth through a small hole in the wall and pass items back and forth to solve the door unlocking puzzle, but the doors they're trying to open go to the same room.

There's an intercom they can use for hints, but first step is getting into the room itself, as the employee explains before they shut the entry. They need to find and assemble the key(s). ]

[He won't leave off the spice, he'll usually make two versions or just spice one half of the dish is in a large enough pan. Spicy spice isn't something you can just "add" at the end like salt and pepper. Sure hot sauce exists, but it's better cooked into the dish. That said, the times he does cook for the two of them, he's conscientious of Izuku's lower tolerance of heat. Most of the time.

Ugh, go die on your own time.

Advanced. Bakugou narrows down and focuses on the room as they're led into it. Two locked doors and bookcases. Hm... wait, they're not going into the same room together?! That's not what he thought, but hey, not complaining. This is a new experience. Course that means he has to speak more. Damn it. Forced cooperation is key then.

As soon as he's left alone in his room, he quickly goes for the bookshelves.]

Check every book for a key or if its hiding something. Don't forget to check under the bookshelves as well for something taped under them.

Obviously! [ Izuku's already checking his side, voice not muffled through the hole. Their rooms are a little dark, but light filters through his side after a second, though dimmer than a usual lamp. ]

Light switch. Ah, hey, these are all murder mysteries!

[Don't fucking "obviously" his instant deductive rationalizations! Katsuki works through his own books, pulling them off and shaking each one via a light grip on the spine to leave the pages as look as possible for anything to fall out. Pictures, cards, keys, whatever.]

Light switch to what? And how many books are there over there?

I mean, the lights were off - uh, maybe they weren't on your side.

[ There's shuffling on his side. ]

About twenty. There's some jars, too, I'm opening them now.

[He's going to look for a light switch anyways. And still make sure every book gets a quick shake search for secrets.]

Did they give us paper to write shit down on?

Nope. Maybe there's paper in the next room though?

[ He doesn't expect the initial puzzle to be too hard since the main story should be inside...

There's a triumphant little noise on his side of the divider as he rattles out a - this might be a key? He'll try it in his door. No joy. ]

Kacchan, come here a sec, this might work on your half somehow.

What the fuck? How we going to write down clues?

[Twenty books about murder mysteries. Shouldn't they notice any titles that are out of place or some kind of pattern? Katsuki stacks the books on one shelf as best he can to line all the spines up. Nothing inside them, so that sucks...

Checking under the shelves now. Well, he was, before Izuku pulls him away.]

Found something?

[To the hole in the wall.]

We haven't even heard the basic story yet, that's probably inside.

[ He puts his hand through the hole, scarred and holding something. ]

Looks like half a key or a key, but it doesn't go to my lock.

[Katsuki accepts the item and turns it over in his hand, using the light through the hole to get a better look at it.]

Okay. I need to find the damn light switch over here if I want to see a keyhole. Anywhere besides the fucking door.

[Which he goes to try the key in first off because why the hell not.]

Mm, check the walls I guess?

[ Izuku's going back to his explorations.

The key fits, but doesn't seem to be complete yet? ]

Fuck! It doesn't work yet!

[He shoves it into his pocket and quickly resumes searching the room, finding the hidden light switch almost a second later.

That gives him more ease with which to scan the shelves and books again. Seeing the titles brings it into sharper focus and he snorts at the older copy of The Spine Key. Should've been obvious. A quick feel along the spine, not just gripping it at the sides, gets him the outline of the key and he works on shaking it out of the hidden slip.]

Got the other half.

Check if it works? Maybe you can open my door from the other side. I haven't found anything else yet...

[ He's still rifling through books. ]

[Katsuki works for a moment to get the key connected to the first piece, then heads for the door to try the key in the lock.

A quick twist and the lock clicks open.]

Done.

[ Izuku will wait to be rescued from his own locked door...

At which point they can look around the main room. Since it's a Halloween murder mystery, it's kind of spooky decor and at least is lit - though not brightly. ]

[Katsuki lets him out quickly, not even bothering to tease him because he's still aiming to beat the time even though they're doing this cold turkey.

He makes a face at the dimly lit room before them.]

Fuck, what's with the lights? Look for a light switch first. Sweep the room.

These ones look more like mood lighting, Kacchan -

[ As in, spooky. Anyway, there's a television set on one wall that flicks on - not part of the "scene", but it plays a clip.

An older man's voice informs them that they've arrived at the manor on invitation to a dinner party, and outlines briefly some of the other guests they know about. It does look like there's a pad of paper and some pens on a table, and they're able to use that; the screen's default is to show how many clues are left. ]

That'll make things harder to see...

[Could be worse; could look like the inside of Birdbrain's room. You couldn't see shit in there. Katsuki glances at the television when it blinks on, expecting to see something ghoulish show up on screen.

He starts making note of the guests as the man describes them, instantly taking acquisition of the paper and pen to work. (He'd let Izuku take notes, but since he'd just start muttering while he did it, distracting from the movie, he doesn't get the privilege. Nyeh.]

[ Izuku had been going for the paper but lets Katsuki win. He mutters anyway, though, so is that a huge win?

But it's happy mumbling as he notes the story...looks like there's two other locked doors they can eventually get to. The answer they have to "find" is essentially who died, where they died, and how. ]

[No. He's gonna grit his teeth and glare at him from the corner of his eye, like that'll get him to shut the fuck up. But won't say anything unless Izuku's muttering drowns out the information from the television screen.

Is there a butler? Because obviously the butler did it. With a canstle dick. In the bedroom.

Two locks doors and a bunch of guests with one dead, identity and location unknown, with "how" unanswered, to say nothing of a motive.]

Check the walls of this room.

[ He can totally yell at Izuku if he wants to?? Unless Katsuki is still thinking about that date score.

Izuku jolts, then nods, heading for the left hand side of the room, starting on the other side of the television.

Any clues should be easily removed, so they can't dismantle things that are hard together. ]

Hm...I was hoping for vampires.

[Nope, he's thinking about paying attention to the screen and information so he can be best prepared for cycling and analyzing the data to make the best stab at how they're going to solve this mystery. Before they get killed.

Katsuki heads for the right, searching the wall with his eyes and hands.]

You might get your wish if we have to drop a weight of blood in something.

[Floorboards.]

That makes it sound like you're going to drain my blood for it?

[ Izuku's laughing though...some of the photos are hard to make out if they're weird - because the "normal" people here don't always look like humans.

So, basically like back home. Izuku's looking for the stereotypical Halloween monsters though. ]

[Hey, it fits with the theme so why the hell not? Katsuki frowns at the pictures and then gives each of them a nudge to the side, seeing if any of them move. Screws are an obvious indication they're not supposed to.

He's still got the "secret spy shit" going on in his head.]
