Yuji shifts, shoving him gently towards his bed. ]

Nope, sit down. It's a surprise.

[blastedass]

[Bakugo blinks at the sudden nudge. Then shoots him a pout (scowl, but it's a pout) before backing off to his bed.]

Fine. You went out of your way for this.

[eyescar]

Yeah? Why shouldn't I? We're friends.

[ Cute pout... Yuji waits until Bakugo's sat before he starts getting things out.

Folding a blanket on the bed, he starts to unpack things: there are some clearly hand decorated cupcakes with little tigers and dandelions on them, wobbly but still cute; there's another blanket, big and fluffy, that he puts to one side, a leather jacket, and a set of t-shirts with some dumb slogans on them. Right at the bottom is a polaroid of the two of them - when did he take it? Seems like at the med bay... ]

Okay! You can look.

Hmph.

[He doesn't deny it this time. Since they're alone. He rests his elbows on his knees, hands dangling between his legs like a grumpy thug.

Oh shit, he really did this. Bakugo can tell Yuji decorated the cupcakes himself (the toppers are cute) and wonders if he did the baking too. A brow arches at the blanket... leather jacket, huh? T-shirts. This better not all be for him, dammit.

Bakugo pauses at the polaroid. Mostly because it's a hit of nostalgia. Reminding him they're both just two teenage guys living in a world together.

For a brief period, heroes and sorcerers, lilith, it all kind of vanishes. Leaving nothing but him and his friend in their little moment.]

Damn. You put together a gift package.

I didn't really know what to get, so I just starting getting things...

[ Maybe just the cupcakes would've been fine, maybe just the jacket, or the photo, but he couldn't decide, so now it's just a mess of presents.

He huffs as he crosses his arms. ]

Happy birthday, dandelion.

[Bakugo grunts in acceptance; not like he gave Yuji any heads up.

The pile is touching and he picks up the photograph, looking at it for a few seconds.]

[ Yuji leans in without thinking too much about it, to sling an arm around Bakugo and hug him gently. ]

I'm glad we got to spend a little of it together.

[Uuugh... but Yuji's earned himself the right and Bakugo leans into him as well... before putting an arm around the sorcerer, returning the hug.]

You can spend more of it.

[ Why does this feel like a victory...

Yuji slides into the embrace, settling there with a happy little smile. He wins today. ]

Do you wanna do something together?

[It is. And it's not brought out by sorrow or injury this time. Double boon.

Bakugo rests his head against the other boy's once he's settled in.]

Yeah.

[What... is the good question. He had planned to lie low today...]

You're warm. [Like always.]

[ This is nice... Yuji feels himself smiling softly, content and happy. ]

Yeah? We can keep doing this, if you want.

[ Nothing weird about snuggling with the homies. ]

We could watch a movie or something on the implants, or read, or whatever... It's your birthday.

[For someone who doesn't let other people get close, the few people he does let give him a quiet balm to his prickly soul. Bakugo like this too.]

You know how dry your eyes get trying not to blink for 90 minutes?

[If he's thinking to project the movie from the ocular. Bakugo has a short tolerance span for cuddling even with people he likes.]

I'd rather go out and see something in theater.

Sure, or we could use the DATAVERSE thing... I wonder if we could watch movies in that...

[ He leans into Bakugo as he thinks, unconcerned. ]

Do you want to go out and see a movie? I don't mind if that's what you want to do.

[Bakugo frowns in thought. Using the Dataverse, they could probably get some things from their own worlds. The idea of introducing Yuji to All Might and heroes is tempting.

Fingers play along the side of Yuji's waist, unconsciously drumming there.]

Let me see what's playing. You like horror films and action, right?

Horror is fine, action is fine, comedies are good... I like all kinds of movies.

[ He's one of those guys, unfortunately. ]

Watching movies was part of my training, so I got used to seeing all kinds of genres.

[Somehow that does not surprise him. Bakugo pulls a face at the training comment.]

How the hell was movie watching part of your training?

I had to concentrate on my cursed energy control, so sensei made me watch movies, so I could practice doing it without thinking.

[ He had the bruises to prove it for a while too. ]

[Especially for someone playing catch-up like Yuji.]

You didn't have a life-time of training with it.

Exactly, and I was "dead", so it was the perfect time.

[ A squeeze into the hug, as if that wasn't its own little lore drop. ]

So! What do you want to do?

You were dead?

[Yuji = learn something new about his friend every time they converse.]

Let's go see a movie. They've got a good action one up.

[He toyed with the idea of setting up a DATAVERSE visit to U.A. but... There's nostalgia and emotions to deal with there that would hit both of them.]

Yeah, it was the first time I died.

[ And up he stands, dragging himself away from the hug and stretching a little. ]

It's on me, okay, birthday boy!

[Tch. He misses the hug already, but like hell is he gonna say that. Bakugo gets up, though he's going to take a few moments to put his presents away. The shirts expertly folded quick and efficient, resting atop his dresser. The jacket on a hanger hanging on the doorknob for him to look at in more detail later. The cupcakes sitting on the top of his minifridge...]

Oy. Before we go-

[and flips up the box lid.]

-have one with me.

[He puts the Polaroid on his bedside table for the time being.]

[ Watching Bakugo pack things up is kind of cute, and Yuji steps aside to let him do it. His own room isn't messy, exactly - thanks Choso - but it seems his friend is a bit of a neat freak. Who knew?

Stepping back over, he looks down at the cupcakes and nods his head. ]

Sure.

[ Hand held out. ]

But if they taste gross you have to pretend, okay?

[Bakugo takes some time while he's packing the gifts up to look them over again. Yuji took the time and effort for this and he's going to appreciate it. Yeah, Bakugo likes his room neat and clean. It prevents him from wasting time losing things or cleaning too often.

The blankets on the bed, hand taking a run over the surface. Soft.

Then picks one of the cupcakes to hand to Yuji (a dandelion one) while he takes a tiger one.]

You've had some practice.

[But yeah, gonna sample it, icing first, then a bite of cake with the icing.]

[ Yuji realises immediately that he's being offered the opposite, and the smile that curves on his face is soft and fond.

Bakugo really is someone precious to him now, isn't he? It's not as if he's ever struggled with making friends, but... It makes his heart feel warm. ]

I might have made a few batches before I got them all looking good...

[ Somewhere in the world are people eating some sloppy looking tiger cupcakes. ]
