[For someone who doesn't let other people get close, the few people he does let give him a quiet balm to his prickly soul. Bakugo like this too.]

You know how dry your eyes get trying not to blink for 90 minutes?

[If he's thinking to project the movie from the ocular. Bakugo has a short tolerance span for cuddling even with people he likes.]

I'd rather go out and see something in theater.

Sure, or we could use the DATAVERSE thing... I wonder if we could watch movies in that...

[ He leans into Bakugo as he thinks, unconcerned. ]

Do you want to go out and see a movie? I don't mind if that's what you want to do.

[Bakugo frowns in thought. Using the Dataverse, they could probably get some things from their own worlds. The idea of introducing Yuji to All Might and heroes is tempting.

Fingers play along the side of Yuji's waist, unconsciously drumming there.]

Let me see what's playing. You like horror films and action, right?

Horror is fine, action is fine, comedies are good... I like all kinds of movies.

[ He's one of those guys, unfortunately. ]

Watching movies was part of my training, so I got used to seeing all kinds of genres.

[Somehow that does not surprise him. Bakugo pulls a face at the training comment.]

How the hell was movie watching part of your training?

I had to concentrate on my cursed energy control, so sensei made me watch movies, so I could practice doing it without thinking.

[ He had the bruises to prove it for a while too. ]

That's smart.

[Especially for someone playing catch-up like Yuji.]

You didn't have a life-time of training with it.

Exactly, and I was "dead", so it was the perfect time.

[ A squeeze into the hug, as if that wasn't its own little lore drop. ]

So! What do you want to do?

You were dead?

[Yuji = learn something new about his friend every time they converse.]

Let's go see a movie. They've got a good action one up.

[He toyed with the idea of setting up a DATAVERSE visit to U.A. but... There's nostalgia and emotions to deal with there that would hit both of them.]

Yeah, it was the first time I died.

[ And up he stands, dragging himself away from the hug and stretching a little. ]

It's on me, okay, birthday boy!

[Tch. He misses the hug already, but like hell is he gonna say that. Bakugo gets up, though he's going to take a few moments to put his presents away. The shirts expertly folded quick and efficient, resting atop his dresser. The jacket on a hanger hanging on the doorknob for him to look at in more detail later. The cupcakes sitting on the top of his minifridge...]

Oy. Before we go-

[and flips up the box lid.]

[He puts the Polaroid on his bedside table for the time being.]

[ Watching Bakugo pack things up is kind of cute, and Yuji steps aside to let him do it. His own room isn't messy, exactly - thanks Choso - but it seems his friend is a bit of a neat freak. Who knew?

Stepping back over, he looks down at the cupcakes and nods his head. ]

Sure.

[ Hand held out. ]

But if they taste gross you have to pretend, okay?

[Bakugo takes some time while he's packing the gifts up to look them over again. Yuji took the time and effort for this and he's going to appreciate it. Yeah, Bakugo likes his room neat and clean. It prevents him from wasting time losing things or cleaning too often.

The blankets on the bed, hand taking a run over the surface. Soft.

Then picks one of the cupcakes to hand to Yuji (a dandelion one) while he takes a tiger one.]

You've had some practice.

[But yeah, gonna sample it, icing first, then a bite of cake with the icing.]

[ Yuji realises immediately that he's being offered the opposite, and the smile that curves on his face is soft and fond.

Bakugo really is someone precious to him now, isn't he? It's not as if he's ever struggled with making friends, but... It makes his heart feel warm. ]

I might have made a few batches before I got them all looking good...

[ Somewhere in the world are people eating some sloppy looking tiger cupcakes. ]

[Yuji's not escaped the same feelings from the blonde across from him. Someone who Bakugo admits is both an equal in strength and a person he values and trusts... someone he accepts is his friend.

Bakugo's never been one to make friends or even 'want' them in a traditional sense. But there are some people who decide for him that they're friends... and often end up getting accepted.

Yuji's someone who lightens the weight of his heart.]

Remind me to teach you how to glaze the tops. It'll be easier for you.

[Cupcakes are cupcakes. Asides from the treats being heavy on the sugary size, and a little dense, they're not bad. Yuji didn't create monsters.]

Hn. You improved.

[ There are a few people in Neo Tokyo that Yuji has been purely honest with, where he has admitted some of the burdens he carries - and Bakugo is one of those people. He stands beside him and understands him, he recognises the struggle of trying to be the best you can be, the loss of a mentor... There's an empathy there he couldn't share with many other people.

It helps. Yuji wants, more than anything, to be that same kind of help to his friend as well.

Taking a bite of his own cupcake, he nods. It's sweet enough that any of the mistakes are easy to forgive, and it does the job - celebrating Bakugo's day. ]

Mm, I worked hard!

[ And there's definitely icing on his mouth. ]

Feel free to eat them all.

[There are things Bakugo could, and probably should, be more honest with Yuji about. But... those are waiting for more fitting circumstances. Probably don't want your friend to be wondering how you came back from the dead either. Yet Yuji's one of those people who Bakugo will fight beside, talk to about struggles (sometimes), and routinely encourages.

There are struggles they share that Yuji can relate to and one day, Bakugo will want to talk to him about them. But he has a hard time with wanting to share, and not wanting to burden Yuji with his struggles.

Despite being a hypocrite when Yuji has those same inclinations.

Best to wipe it all down for a while longer with cupcakes and end up with a little frosting mustache on Bakugo's upper lip. At least he didn't get the tiger stuck up his nose.]

Good job. Did you use a box mix or make it from scratch?

[Yeah, he'll be saving them and will eat them over time.]

[ They're of the same mind - they understand one another in ways that maybe other people can't. Yuji is starting to realise that, so he lets himself share, unburden himself - he trusts Bakugo to be there and be his own brand of kind, but also to knock him around the head when the situation calls for it.

He's starting to realise he might need that sometimes.

Reaching out, Yuji goes to wipe off that icing on Bakugo's face without thinking too much about it. ]

It was from scratch, but I looked up a recipe first.

[Bakugo has slowly started to realize the two way street between them, one that's been walked more by Yuji than by himself. Granted, he's has less of the traumatic experiences here. Hasn't had to get knocked on the head, though he expects Yuji to do that to him should he ever need it for whatever reason...

But the things they can share... Bakugo should talk to him about that. About losing a teacher, about seeing a friend almost die, about dying and coming back... even if it's not the same as Yuji's version.

Bakugo blinks at the run of thumb across his lip. Then pops the tiger off the frosting and uses it to put a dot on Yuji's cupids' bow.]

I'm impressed. The kitchen's not burned down either.

[Nar har har.]

[ They've been through a lot, the two of them, far more than any teenagers ought to have gone through - and maybe it's made them stronger, maybe it's made them better at what they had to do, but at what cost?

They're still just kids: whenever someone reminds Yuji of that, all he can do is shrug it off and try to laugh.

It's what he signed up for, right?

The push of icing against his face makes him blink, tilting back and trying to lick it off. ]

You're so funny, dandelion.

[There's no maybe in Bakugo's mind. They don't go through those trials, endure them, survive them, and come out the weaker for it. Scars may last forever, their minds weighted with trauma, but they're stronger. Even if the cost is his body, Bakugo's ready to sacrifice that if he has to. But... he intends to be strong enough he won't have to.

Yeah, that's kind of the issue, isn't it? They are kids. Even if sorcerers or heroes, they're kids. Despite Bakugo bristling when someone calls him one.

He scoffs when Yuji tries to get the icing off just by tilting his head and licking at it.]

Look who's talking.

[eyescar]

[ Not being able to get the icing doesn't stop Yuji, and he tries again, attempting to lick before - nope, it's really not working, is it? He huffs a little, shaking his head and looking around. He didn't bring any napkins, either...

Yuji ends up wiping it with his thumb, sucking it off after. Sweet. ]

I didn't do anything funny...

[ Did he? ]

[Bakugo ends up laughing at him, short and sweet, but a genuine laugh regardless. He's about to reach out on his own, but then Yuji does it himself.]

You just were.

[He finishes up the cupcake afterwards, tongue stealing off the corner of his mouth to take a crumb+icing combo off the side.

Yeah, that was pretty sweet.]

[ Wow, a real life Bakugo laugh! It's cute!

Wiping at his face just to make sure, Yuji tries not to pout. ]

Was not.

[ But, but!! He goes back to grinning quickly enough. ]

Now that they've met dandelion approval, we should go?
