[Damn, those fangs real? He wouldn't be surprised, if because Bakugo would be the type to go all out or maybe just this resort being itself.]

The insult to one of the most iconic horror figures in movies...

[Scott shakes his head, exaggerating his disappointment towards the grumbling werewolf next to him. Oh, there's no way he can't give him shit for this, it's like prime opportunity and he's going to take it. Like sure it probably makes sense that the movie wasn't popular in Japan and especially not in the future, but whatever, he doesn't care about those details.

He's just obviously missing out on culture.]

And dude, it's the name of the movie he's from. Basically a bunch of teenagers hang out in summer camp and they're killed by him.

[...Sort of, but he's not going to get into the plot twist and everything. Not to mention the sequels, but they're not as good in his opinion.]

Uh, because it's like one of the most popular horror movie franchises back home? It's just fun watching?

[Another small poke with his fake machete, just a little surprised that Bakugo is even asking him this question. Guess he takes the whole hero thing to even the stuff that he watches, huh? Always wanting the hero to win, because he doesn't think Bakugo would be the type to be averse to violence in movies. It's kind of cute. Granted, Scott prefers those sort of stories himself-- hell, he'd rather watch Star Wars over Friday the 13th any day, but still.

His smile grows.]

Don't worry, I'm thinking about sparing you tonight... depends on how well this date goes.

Jeez, it's not real. Stop taking it so seriously.

[But moving on... Scott huffs, amusement clear in the sound, and he thankfully stops poking his friend with the toy. Whatever debate they can have about horror movies, he's way more interested in this date and testing out his powers with his friend. That's one of the reasons why they're out here, even though they're not really dressed for a full on spar. That's fine, it's mostly just going to be testing stuff with his visor-- something that he's stored in one of the big pockets of his jacket.

But before even all that, he's still looking forward to something else. A belated birthday date dinner and all that.]

Well, since you really don't know... Jason always catches his prey. It just happens, believe me. But come on, I've been craving to eat at the diner all day now.

[A small, if amused snort, his elbow this time ribbing him in the side as they start heading to the diner. Yeah, this is basically a belated birthday dinner for him, but he honestly doesn't hold it against his friend-- mostly because he didn't mention it in the first place. All that stupid camping stuff sort of distracted him.

Still, it really doesn't bother him that they're doing this late, it's definitely better than not doing it at all.

And he honestly appreciates Bakugo being so gung-ho about wanting to celebrate it in the first place. He's a pretty good friend, huh? Even if he's grumbling next to him and doesn't know anything about classic American horror films. He'll try not to hold it against him too much.]

Yeah, he basically drowned in the lake because all the camp counselors were too busy having sex instead of watching over the kids. [...] Dude, if he was actually here, he'd probably have a heart attack. Uh, even though he's already dead.

Sort of, yeah.

[There's the whole thing with his mom in the first movie that was the actual killer, but then there were sequels and... eh, too much to explain. Besides, that would ruin the plot twist! Bakugo needs to experience it for himself. It would be like if he told him that Darth Vader is actually Luke's father. No way, that's like the big point of the second movie.

Besides, it's food time.

So, without even trying to explain the movie further, Scott starts tugging Bakugo along with him-- a brief pull, as they get closer to the restaurant. He's allowing himself this because they're celebrating his birthday.]

But need to know, did you choose that costume? [Is he actually going to judge his friend? Maybe.]

[Since Bakugo is an Ace ranking... he really has no qualms making him pay for everything and cover the tab. It's nice to be treated anyway. Yeah sure guess it makes him the 'girl' in this date but whatever, it's also his birthday... and the fact that he's finally 18 years old. It's a big year, right?]

You don't have to knock it that hard. [Sure, treat or treating is a little childish... but there's some fun in it still. Dressing up is fun. But the teasing continues, even as they step insider the modest diner, a place that definitely won't break the bank and just here for the atmosphere and decent food. Hopefully not drugged.]

What do you do back home? Pass out candy? Or wait, are you the type to pass out lame shit, like fruit snacks?

Like 5 years ago.

[A simple answer that Scott doesn't elaborate on, mostly because he's getting himself situated in the booth that the host has led them to. Yeah, guess they're actually getting what they want, probably because of Bakugo's rank. Still kind of annoying to deal with, even though he's been here for almost a year, but he's not going to let that ruin his date with his friend.

He leans forward a little against the table, arms folded underneath him as he smiles.]

Oh, so you're even more boring than I thought.

wanna start handwaving this portion?

You know you're not helping your case, right? You're making yourself sound like a studious nerd.

[If he gets kicked underneath the booth, well, he probably can't fully blame Bakugo for it. He knows he's being an ass, but that's part of the fun, and he will absolutely kick him back just because. Never take anything lying down or whatever. And it's clear that no matter how much he bitches or teases him, Scott is having a good time. Chatting, eating, until they finally leave the diner.

Maybe a small walk is in order before they go to the Talon to train and test out his new visor. He is pretty excited about that, just because they've been working together for so long and finally he can show him better control of his powers.]

[No fry throwing this time, just relentless teasing. Maybe a couple extra kicks here and there. Scott carrying that more lighthearted nature during the entire conversation, energy bright and all because of the other teen sitting across from him. Definitely sappy, so of course he'd never admit it. Maybe a part of him doesn't even realize how much he's affected by his deep friendship with the other.

Even when he tells Bakugo about his shitty school before Xavier's, his mood doesn't drop. Just boring shit, never fitting in. Hating the teachers there. But things changing when eventually attending said mutant school, how he just sort of fit in with other freaks. Outcasts attract outcasts or whatever. Maybe a small mention that back home, mutants still are the minority, most people don't have powers.

And going into that topic more as they walk around the Vale, with the Talon soon the next destination.]

I mentioned before that like the X-Men are relatively unknown, right? I mean... there aren't superheroes running around back home like your world. I think we'll be the first group.

[...If they already haven't moved on since his disappearance. The only thought that actually manages to temporarily bring Scott's mood down, a flicker of doubt crossing his face.]

From: [personal profile] laserguy
[He really hopes he can use Bakugo's world as... well, maybe not like the optimal outcome, but something to work towards because people with powers are so readily accepted there. It's just maybe a little worrying that maybe that acceptance is only because the majority are powered people, but he doesn't want to think about it that way. He wants to see that change, be it, and not just because there are fewer humans than mutants. That feels kind of fucked up.]

Uh, yeah? That's the plan, asshole. [He grins at him though, lightly bumping his shoulders into Bakugo. There's something appreciative in his expression that he can't hide, because he knows this is Bakugo's way of actually encouraging him and it's definitely enough to pull him out of those more negative thoughts. At least for right now.

Besides he really does want to show off to him.]

We'll show everyone that humans and mutants can co-exist.

laserguy: (look i know i'm an ass)
From: [personal profile] laserguy
[SHOVES BACK okay no, although Scott can't entirely resist from bumping again into Bakugo's shoulder, though it's still more of a light knock than anything else. A full sign of his comfort and camaraderie with the other teen, maybe it's why he's really opening up about this sort of topic with him in the first place. He's still really the only other one around his age that deals with this sort of thing.

Maybe Gojou and Getou too, but... everything he's heard about their world seems even more fucked. He doesn't want things to go their route, although things are already different because of most humans not even knowing about curses and stuff.]

I dunno, I guess it's possible? [There's a small frown though, Scott clearly uncertain how he feels about something like that.] Is it going well in your world?

Date: 11/25/25 18:40 (UTC)
laserguy: (big ol' visor)
From: [personal profile] laserguy
Always.

[A flicker of humor, especially as they start nearing the Talon, with Scott already finding himself walking to one of the training rooms that he often frequents. A place where he can blast the walls without worry, destroy some of the training dummies, and that was when he just had his sunglasses. Now with his visor, maybe they can start toying around with some new stuff... although he's really not dressed for any real training exercise. And Bakugo is a werewolf.

They'll work something out. He's looking forward to it.]

So, it's not a good thing. [A small hum leaves Scott, with one thought suddenly appearing in his mind.] Well, there was this one mutant that like... stole other mutant's powers. But he's dead.
