[A flicker of humor, especially as they start nearing the Talon, with Scott already finding himself walking to one of the training rooms that he often frequents. A place where he can blast the walls without worry, destroy some of the training dummies, and that was when he just had his sunglasses. Now with his visor, maybe they can start toying around with some new stuff... although he's really not dressed for any real training exercise. And Bakugo is a werewolf.
They'll work something out. He's looking forward to it.]
So, it's not a good thing. [A small hum leaves Scott, with one thought suddenly appearing in his mind.] Well, there was this one mutant that like... stole other mutant's powers. But he's dead.
Don't make me splatter you across the wall. [Because he will. Familiar scenery begins passing, Talon's entrance rising in front of them. He's been here so many damn times, the place is as memorized as his own damn hand. Reinforced training rooms are his constant companions throughout his months in the resort, building his strength and keeping his shape as he honed his body and Quirk over and over. He refuses to let the resort break any part of him: mind, body, or spirit. And when it comes time to wrench themselves free... he'll be ready to bring hell to the House.
Oy, don't think he can fight any less as a werewolf. Scott should watch out for those teeth and claws.]
Aa. All for One took useful Quirks for himself and lent them to his followers as soldiers. The doctor working for him found a way to biological copy and transfer Quirks between people. Those are the only two ways in my world anyone knows. [And both are in the hands of people who would rule the world if able. Killing anyone in their way.]
[A teasing comment, even as he tosses his useless hockey mask aside and starts to slide off his normal sunglasses for the visor that he's kept in his jacket pocket the entire time. Yeah, Jason's Halloween jacket has deep pockets, it's fine. But he eventually starts to slide the battle visor across his closed eyes, before a flicker of red flashes through them as he reopens his eyes and looks over at his friend.
'All For One' though, huh? Sounds a little bit like Apocalypse, maybe.]
Yeah, basically, he had this whole ritual, don't know how it's done, but he tried to steal my professor's body and thus his powers. It's how he managed to have so many, by snatching other mutants like that. Real dick. [He really just made things worse for everyone. He hates that guy.]
And he also had followers, but I think he mostly just enhanced the powers they already had, rather than transferring them or anything.
[At least that's what Ororo mentioned to him. But he flicks the button of his visor and luckily, it lands on the correct 'mode' for right now.] So this is basically what Professor McCoy made for me back home.
Hoh? Interesting. [He can get behind this. While Scott starts switching up his costume and visor, Bakugo takes his place in front of the training room's control panel. A few taps and flicks generates a wider room as the walls and floors yawn outward for more space. Bland pillars and ramps rise from the floor, providing obstacles to mount atop and duck behind. Satisfied for now, he glances to Scott's visor application, red eyes narrowing at how they fit over his ears, rest on his nose, and block those ever-important eyebrows for telling his friend's expression. Tch.
... still fucking cool when that slice of ruby flares up in an impressive glow.]
He transferred his consciousness into a new body? [Sounded like his MO if he was stealing the professor's body and taking the mutant's ability with it.] What happened to his old body? [Did the victim inhabit that one or did he absorb the victim altogether? Questions, questions. Bakugo snorts at the "real dick" comment. Yeah, that sums it up, Scott.]
Hmph. There was a drug on the streets called Trigger which did that to Quirks. Shitty side effects. [Having someone able to enhance mutant powers normally is pretty damn dangerous.]
Think this place copied it or did their best replication?
[If there's one thing he can appreciate about the casino, it is their state of the art training rooms. Sometimes it really doesn't feel all that much different compared to the Danger Room, minus the Sentinels that Hank trains them with. There's still ramps and other obstacles that feel familiar enough, although he's not sure how much actual running he's going to do in his current outfit. He just mostly wants to show off his new visor to his friend and maybe go through a few training exercises.
Okay okay, he's definitely going to train as much as he can, even like this. They can do more too later on, when they're actually dressed for it. He's genuinely excited for that, especially since Bakugo is someone that he trusts a lot. Plus, doing all this will probably be good for him too-- he knows it will be. See him get his body working and training after the breakdown a while back.]
I guess it just rotted away? It's not like my Professor would've woken up in his old body... I think his mind would just be destroyed or something. [Frowns. It really sounds fucked up talking about it like this. He really didn't think about it too much at the time, not when so many things were already happening, but they were so close in losing the Professor. Jean's father figure. One of his mentors now, someone he doesn't want to disappoint.
But he pushes those thoughts away for now, wanting to focus on his visor. He still wants to show off!!]
But it's a good replica, able to control my optic blasts just like normal. It pretty much feels exactly the same. It just... has an extra button. With extra modes.
[A scrunched face. It probably doesn't take a genius to figure out what Scott means by that. This place just couldn't be normal and give him his regular visor, nope. It had to make it 'sexy' in some way. Typical.]
[These were the first place he actively searched back during his arrival week. As much as he wanted to blow steam by blasting the ever-living fuck out of the resort (and did so a few times), learning it did fuck all against its magical rejuvenation and he'd eventually get in trouble for destruction... Training rooms. At least the damn bird realized what kind of people it was kidnapping and included a place for wanton cut loose.
If Scott wants some training exercises, Bakugo's already programmed a number of them, ranging from obstacle courses for movement testing and target practice for long-range reaction shots. He's almost always down for testing powers and setting new personal records. Doing so with Scott's one of his-- never gonna verbally admit it --favorite ways to spend his time in the resort. Kicking ass with a friend is fucking amazing.]
Hmph. Sounds like that bastard and Nutsack Face would get along. Until they tried backstabbing each other. [Megalomaniac egocentric villains like that would never get along forever. Only engage in mutually beneficial partnership until one though he could do without the other. Sorry you're talking to a closet nerd, Scott! Bakugo would ask these questions. He asked a number about All for One back home as well.
Letting the topic drop, he focuses instead on Scott's visor, approaching for a close-up wander. Check out the ear pieces, the way it sits on his nose bridge, how much of his face it really covers, and noting what he's got left over to piece together Scott's expression. Not gonna tell if he's rolling his eyes. Duh.]
Let me guess; the extras are perverse. [What isn't when the resort gives someone's something "extra" crap? Hey, he at least got the scrunched-face expression! Not hard when it's Scott's entire face reacting.] You're gonna shoot targets first. Not me.
[There's a small tilt of Scott's head as he lets Bakugo inspect the visor that's taken the place of his normal sunglasses, eyes temporarily closing as he lets his hands wander across his face. It's done without a second thought, easily trusting the other teen with this. Let him inspect his new visor, all the new features, and how it's the singular item that can allow him to actually control his powers.]
Mm, yeah. Pretty much. I'll give you five bucks if you can guess one of the features.
[It's meant to come off as snarky, but there's an almost content murmur to his voice just because of how close Bakugo is and letting him touch his visor until he's satisfied. His eyes reopen then, Scott nodding at the suggestion.] Yeah, hard for you to appreciate my powers if you're doubled over in pain.
[Sexy. He doesn't stop the word in his head. Nothing embarrassing about it. People have said the same about his hero costume (and he's kicked their ass for it) but he's not blind to what costumes and gear can do. Scott's visor accents his face in different ways, from the lower half of his cheekbones to narrow crimson line creating a handsome imposing image Bakugo finds both cool and attractive. He briefly skims a blunt nail along its silver curve, checking how snug the piece sits on his friend's face. In case he needs to rip it off in the future...
No pushing buttons. He'd isn't gonna accidentally take a fucking optic blast to face.]
Increasing and decreasing your beam's intensity. [And nerd takes over horny for a moment as Bakugo runs his thumb across the other teen's lower lip. Something about Scott's murmured voice and their close proximity. Tch, pain in the ass. You know, being attracted to someone. Bakugo's mouth quirks around a short hissy scoff. This fucking brat.]
Like you could even hit me. [And kisses him, hot and hard, head tilted just enough to fit their mouths together in a comfortable angle. No clacking teeth, no bumping noses, yes invading tongue... and breaks it with more wet than he really needed.] Give me a good show, Shades.
[Hard to really argue when he's suddenly enveloped in a deep kiss, strong and sudden enough that it takes his breath-- not that he'd admit it. Not to mention that Bakugo is cheating for doing this in the first place, taking away his ability to counter his comment, but it's just so nice to kiss him that he has a hard time being too mad about it. Tongue meeting his once more in familiar contact, touching and exchanging saliva, all before they pull away once more.
His cheeks are lightly flushed from the kiss, a shuddering little breath leaving him, before he huffs and raises his hand to his visor once more.]
Just sit back and enjoy the show, asshole.
[A quick turn, with Scott barely giving Bakugo any time to get settled, before he presses against his visor to let out a fast red blast-- hitting a faraway target within seconds. There's definitely a part of him that wants to show off right now.]
[Scott's fault for being attractive. Physically, gear-wise, snarky charming attitude. Bastard. Bakugo threatens his teeth on the mutant teen's lower lip, gives a final nip suggesting Scott got off light this time, and leans back to give him his space. They've got some training to do and he can't do that with his mouth attached to the brunette's. Not yet anyhow. He slicks his tongue across his teeth and lips like a beast finished with a tasty meal. Worth it to see the mutant's face afterwards.
He steps back and crosses his arms, barely getting them up before Scott whips around and crimson streaks through air and space. Right into the target. Not a close one, but a farther victim. Heh, is this Scott showing off because he's trying to impress Bakugo? That's kinda cute...]
[He's been trapped here in this casino for so long without his full gear, it's nice to actually use his powers in a way that feels like true control. Sure, he's needing the assistance of an accessory, but there is something so fulfilling to finally just press a button on his visor to let out quick and precise shots while still seeing everything around him. It's a boost that he didn't know he was missing and so he's more confident like this, Scott quickly turning and firing crimson red through the air to hit each target.
He almost seems like he's having fun.
It's not like it's too hard to aim, mostly just staring straight at something and letting his powers go-- but it's still all done rather effortlessly on his end, not pausing between each hit until every single target is gone without a miss. Okay, he might've practiced just a bit too before meeting Bakugo for this date.
Once done though, Scott tilts his head at his friend with a small smirk.]
[Bakugo has similar feelings regarding missing his own costume and gear. Even if they wouldn't be too much more use to him in the resort than going bare handed like usual. But someone close to him already promised to reclaim his costume, so he's waiting on them rather than renege on the deal.
Nice to know Scott's visor works out snappy for him! He can instantly tell the mutant's more comfortable with better control over his optic blast's intensity and size. An adjustable visor is better than fickle human eyelids. He should tell Scott about Shinsou. Eyebags uses a mask with adjustable controls to help his vocal Quirk. Similar to Scott's visual one.
Bakugo notes the mutant's better physical handling too. He moves quicker, twists and turns sharper, and catches shots he knows the teen would've clipped or missed prior. Not just blasting now, but slicing and piercing too...
Damn right he better be having fun! Training's not all work! He folds his arms over his chest as Scott finishes off the last of his strikes. Yeah, this wasn't a first run. Someone practiced.]
Faster than your last score. That visor takes a lot of the eye work out.
[He's definitely grinning, almost beaming with a certain pride that wasn't fully there beforehand. Maybe for the first time in months he actually feels like the X-Man he's supposed to be, instead of just always taking off his sunglasses and having such a hard time controlling his powers or seeing what he's blasting while he's like that. Full eyesight and control really makes a big difference.]
Better be faster. [He snorts, but still is smiling bright.] I've been working on bank shots as well, although sometimes those are a little harder to pull off. Depends on what I'm hitting and shit.
[But with a low enough blast, he's found that he can bounce his powers off mirrors and things while still carrying enough momentum to knock someone out.] I've figured to start with common things I see around here.
[A training gymnasium full of concrete spires and slabs. Other teenagers like himself practicing moves and drills, costumes of all colors accenting their Quirks. Someone succeeds, a challenge bested, and one call out to friends around leaves them beaming in pride and joy. ... Nostalgia and homesickness twist his stomach in a wrench before he can parse it, skin tightening like he was plunged in freezing water from head to toe. A sucker punch to his guts he wasn't expecting.
Fuck...
STOMP STOMP STOMP!! DOWN!! PISS OFF!! He'll deal with it later. Right now, Scott's his important focus!]
Don't get cocky with me. [His lips quirk in a smug grin despite his warning words.] Bank shots, huh? I brought that up the first time. [When he saw Scott's optic blasts, how brilliant they were. Good to know he's made progress in that area. Bakugo pulls one arm across his chest, stretching his muscles and shoulder.]
All that crap's stationary. Let's see how well you do with a moving target.
[Scott doesn't catch onto those thoughts plaguing his friend this time, taking in Bakugo's smug smile for what it is and meeting it with his own. He's still having too much fun, actually feeling connected with his powers instead of thinking they're a huge burden to him and everyone around him. He can actually protect others with full control.
Because despite this place lording itself as a fun sex casino, they both know how dangerous it can be too.]
You didn't invent the idea, genius. [But still grinning, teasing him, before preparing himself once more for the next round of targets. There's still that flicker of humor on his face, but almost instantly, he changes into a more serious demeanor as he focuses on the challenge that Bakugo plans to spring up on him. It's a really fast switch between those two attitudes...]
What? Don't think I can hit a moving target? Bring it on.
[One day they'll share those thoughts, so Bakugo can chide Scott on thinking his mutant powers are a burden rather than a gift. He knows how hard it can be to handle a dangerous ability; he blows shit up with his hands. He knows three people who have Quirks poorly suited for their bodies, yet they make them work.
Watching Scott's pride in his own mutant powers thickens his chest with satisfaction and a long-awaited "finally" sensation he's been missing. The mutant teen is strong, but even moreso when he's behind his own powers. So they can wreck this fucking place when it starts pissing people off.]
I didn't say I did! [RAWR! One hard swipe, fingers flying across the screen, and those smoldering targets in the air swiftly retract. Instead, two targets abruptly flare out of a harness-like item suddenly hovering nearby. Which Bakugo swiftly slips over his shoulders, leaving him with target "wings" to either side. Both hands crackle and flare with twin explosions as he steps backwards into the obstacle course.] You got 90 seconds to hit one.
He didn't quite expect Bakugo to be the one to make himself said moving target, but it only adds to that growing excitement-- the determination to complete the challenge more than ever. A clash of powers, even if they're not directly fighting, but it still matters. Before, he was always extremely careful about using his full powered optic blasts on others, during training or anything, really, but as he turns his dial on his visor to something far below lethal, he's less concerned about actually hitting his friend.
Sure, there might be some bruises and everything, but that's kind of expected given what they do. It's not using his powers and blasting someone's face or head off. Of course, he's going to be aiming for the targets on his wings rather than anything else. It doesn't count otherwise, he knows.]
I'll get both in that timeframe.
[He says, but there's barely any hesitation before he fires off a quick red blast right at his friend. From there, it'll be an onslaught of shots, Scott barely pausing between each attack-- sometimes firing in spots where he thinks Bakugo will go, trying to predict his path, so that he can hit one of the targets.]
[Why the hell would he stand around and do shit while Scott got all the fun of shooting targets? He regularly sparred with and challenged his classmates during training rather than ducking out alone (even if it was more forcing them to fight for their lives while he tried blowing them up). Two people training together meant both had to work on something mutual. Scott, his aim, Bakugo, his reflexes. Precession versus speed, with reaction and reflex for both.
Arranging the backpack over his shoulders, he stalks into the newly-designed obstacle course, fully intending for Scott to follow him in sooner or later. Hills, ledges, pillars, basic shit this time around. He's never taken a full-powered optic blast from his friend (isn't sure he wants to), but he's been on the receiving end of a few crimson rays. Packs a fucking punch. Not like he's gonna let Scott hit him this time!]
Che! Bring it on, Shades! [*KA-BOOM!* Without warning! Explosions scorch the ground and he rockets to the side, leaving a fading smoke trail before bouncing off another in a jagged zigzag through the air. It'd be pointless to duck behind obstacles and stay there in hiding; Bakugo passes by them merely as ways of interrupting Scott's sight and either emerging out the other side or rebounding off another direction.]
Ngh! [Light snaps past his cheek, he throws his head back and lands on one hand- BOOM!-sends himself vaulting backwards until his feet hit the wall behind him. A crouch, muscles tense, BOOM! Good! Scott's not firing where he was, but rather aiming where he expects he's going to be. Bakugo cusses under his breath as they're forced to try and out-predict the other rather than rely on pure speed.]

Date: 12/27/25 23:56 (UTC)Arranging the backpack over his shoulders, he stalks into the newly-designed obstacle course, fully intending for Scott to follow him in sooner or later.
