[Esikko broke first. But he's unlocking and opening the door soon enough, standing in his usual black sweats for the cooler weather, barefoot with one hand in his pocket. Same usual scowl on his face.]
Don't slam on the door, dammit! Trying to break it down?
[Says the guy who literally kicks people's doors instead of knocking.]
You, of all people, don't get to ask for less slamming!
( It's that playful sort of anger, the fluster and upset that's only surface level and easy to blow over, harmless. Still, Esikko is full of it right now, jabbing his finger out to poke insistently at Bakugo's chest. )
All I need are the rules, a practice game each, and a night of analyzing on my own and I'll crush you, you know.
( Huff!! He steps forward to let himself in, if he can, as he drops his hand back away. He's dressed not in lounge wear, but in something more fit for activity. And it looks like he's a little winded.
Hard to say if that's from him rushing up here or whatever he was up to before this. )
Haa?! You got something to say, Prince Prick? [Go on, tell him to his face he kicks doors and slams them shut! Cause he's always a controlled and composed young man when it comes to knocking on doors! It's only when the idiots behind them are fucking DEAF does he bother increasing the intensity. Duh!
He clicks his tongue, lips curled in mild annoyance, before batting Esikko's hand away as his expression melts into a casual nonchalance. Yeah, yeah. Time to kick some royal butt.]
Ha! You said you could take me on now. You get the rules, a practice game, and then you're playing.
[There is no "night of analyzing" when Esikko stomped over here to make good on his threat and wager! Bakugo'll teach him, let him get his bearings, and soundly slaughter him across the table.
*clack!* He throws the door shut behind Esikko and heads for his now-repaired living room. Three packs of cards sit on the small table between two lounge chairs. As well as two drinking glasses with one of Esikko's preferences in a chilled cooler to the side.]
( The breath Esikko sucks in at that insistent desire to challenge now makes his cheeks puff up a little, and when he finally huffs out all that air, his foot stomps down like an angry rabbit. )
Fine! I don't need a night, I can still take you down no problem.
( He's huffy, he's puffy, and his leg does another little stomp before he storms over to the table itself, eyes flicking cautiously between all of the card packs before he grabs one of the drinks from the cooler. Something like calpico, probably... The gesture doesn't go unnoticed, even if he's too busy being angry and determined to properly thank him for having a cooler set out for him and glasses.
He sits down in one of the chairs, practically on the edge of it as he moves to uncap his drink and pour it into a glass. So serious, so determined... over cards. He's funny like that. He really wants to see Bakugo in that maid dress. )
[Definitely not a complimenting way of uttering his honorific. Don't taper off a "you" in threat if you're not gonna back it up, huh? Did he really think he'd be able to thrown down such a gauntlet and then back out to prepare. Hell no! Suck up or pay up!]
You'll eat those words.
[Bakugo's merciless, even to his friends. He drops his ass into the chair across the table, a whuff of wind pressure carrying his small grunt into the air. Each card deck has a different backing, all gold with varying designs. Typical of the peacock. Sweeping two aside, he plucks the remainder from the table, flips the tab open with his thumb, and dumps the cards in a neat stack into his other hand. Nothing but water in the cooler for him.]
Poker. The resort already plays it with our ranks. [If Esikko's done any cash in reward with the cards he's gathered, he has an idea of hands and combinations for those points.] Here's a list of them.
[And passes over a printout with the proper poker hands.]
( Has anyone ever told Bakugo he's so confident that it's even more annoying when he's right? Probably, and so Esikko only says it with the glare he shoots over, pouty and harmless. But fine. He'll trash talk a little less himself, both to even it out and to look a little less bad if he does lose. Because, in the face of relentless confidence like Bakugo's, even his own competitive confidence flags a little.
Not that he intends to show that outwardly. )
I didn't realize you could play this with two players. ( He hasn't done much card playing at all, it seems, as he reaches out to take the print out with a quiet glance over. Sure, he's turned in cards for cash and rewards, helped Compress out once, for example— but this is more interactive, more rules. Different, he thinks. He crosses one leg over the other, leaning back a little to scan his eyes over these hands. )
Okay, so pretend I know nothing, just in case I've learned poorly. What are the rules for this one?
[Yes. Confidence is bullshit if you don't have the strength and skill to back it up! His confidence brims from that smug self-assurance with complete belief in his ability to support it. Esikko glares at him and he grins right back like the cocky bastard he is. Don't pick a fight with someone who can crush you, Prince Prick!
(Even though Bakugo's probably one of the safest people in the resort to pick a fight with. At least he won't kill? ... But boy can he wreck someone without killing.) He's looking forward to seeing Esikko wearing that horrid outfit. Watching him scowl and tug on the skirt's gonna be amazing.]
You've been playing Solitaire. [Or a Poker-ized version of the game. Bakugo shuffles the cards in hand, splits the deck, and bridges them in a flurry arch between his fingers. The hands remain the same, as well as importance. What Esikko might recall being a combination that earns more points or better rewards are the same hands which'll beat "weaker" combinations. Shouldn't be hard for him to pick up.]
Each of these hands beats the one below it. [And since I am not a master at playing poker, Bakugo will do a far better job explaining the rules than I can. Take it away, BoomBoomBitch!]
( Perfect, a flawless explanation. Esikko doesn't take a lot to pick this one up, and Bakugo's explanations are clear enough, so he follows. This one seems to be skill and luck in combination... He's smart enough to pick up on the fact that game length and number of players can change how this goes completely, too.
But will picking things up quickly be enough here? Can't really do any surprise moves like he might in chess-like games for one like this, but. He sure will try...
It means that he's so focused he's actually far quieter than usual. )
[If Esikko needed a lot of hand holding for poker, Bakugo would've raged at him for a thick head. He'd prefer not to bring the damn resort into his entertainment, but in this case, he's out of options. Poker's the best place to start and he wants to crush this cocky prick for getting ahead of himself. Not having to explain everything in detail helps as he lays out the cards and shows which hand beats what, while giving a more simplified ruling for bluffs, holds, and folds. Enough for Esikko to get the main grasp of the game.
Bakugo wants to win, but he hates winning against an unequal opponent.
He finishes up the explanation, grills Esikko on the hands and vocabulary, then finally satisfied with his own teaching, doles out the cards for their practice game.]
( It means that he can lock in and observe Bakugo during all of this, too. He's sure Bakugo has a hell of a poker face, but if there are any tells, he's going to be watching for them like a hawk!! ...Of course, he has a few tells himself...
And if it's luck he has to rely on here, he's going to be terrible with it. But he's sure going to try his best. )
