Depends on what you mean. They're obviously not real, but...they do seem to have my tastes down pretty well when it comes to places I go and enjoy or things I see and enjoy. I've been double checking them as I go, but you know, like - I don't know, I guess I just take them as a sort of guidebook brochure...?

[ Also, the emphasis was not suspicious. Izuku usually eats at Dodo house and doesn't eat out a lot - but he's got a bunch of part time jobs so he's been around the food places a few times and eaten at work once or twice, or just taste-tested things so he can do the menu better. ]

[Maybe he said it wrong, but Izuku answered what he was really trying to ask. How the other boy handled the memories and how he thought about them.]

They fucking piss me off. Feeling like I've lived a double life, one that's not my own. But...

[The happiness that's in those memories, the completely difference of his life in many ways better than the life he's lived, is impossible to ignore. It rankles his guilt and regret in ways that's hard to convey. Shit he won't bring to verbal light.]

Nothing I can do about it.

Mm...I don't know if they make me angry. [ On the one hand, it's totally weird. On the other - there's something nice about memories of Katsuki that are just a little bit bittersweet "what ifs". Izuku recognizes something of them both in those, and it's...kind of like a movie? A movie he doesn't mind seeing sometimes. ]

I think, if I have to remember things that didn't happen...these memories aren't so bad for that?

Either they make you angry or they don't. It's not hard to tell.

[Katsuki has similar responses to the memories. The "nice" feeling that comes from knowing there's at least one reality where Izuku didn't have to go through what he did. But the feeling never lasts. The weight of reality comes back and he has to push the "what if" to the side, lest it become some kind of trap he has to drag out from.]

Tch. They're not "bad", but they're not me. Feels like I'm watching someone else's life.

[Someone that he's occasionally envious of, and that's a very uncomfortable feeling.]

W-well, yeah...I mean...I guess it's just, if I have to have fake memories...I'd rather them be something pleasant? I don't want "trauma" from another life I didn't live?

[ That just seems like it would be stressful, so. He'll take the happy stuff, sad as it sometimes can be. ]

[It makes sense. Katsuki finishes the food. There's a quiet "thank you for the meal" that mingles with the soft clink of chopsticks on the rim of the bowl before the blonde stands up.]

I'm gonna wash off and get ready.

[ We'll say...probably? Not storming, but sprinkling/showering. Izuku's going to have to grab a raincoat and an umbrella. ]

Okay, I'll take the dishes back and then get ready myself!

[Ugh, still wet. Katsuki scowls at it as he sets the bowl down on his desk.

A raincoat and umbrella are a good idea.]

I'll be 45 minutes.

Okay! I'll grab a shower too, then.

[ Not like he's been working out, but he did fall asleep early last night and wake up early, too. ]

All right. I'll meet you at your room when I'm ready.

[Izuku already came to his and he doesn't want to do a "front door" meeting in a house that cna change shit around...]

[ The suites...usually stay in the same place except when they change once a month, so.

Izuku hurries off to do the dishes and then take a shower! Busy bee. ]

[katsuki still doesn't trust it. (Might be a petty grudge from earlier.) He still finishes his workout, though a lighter set because he ate, then showers off and cleans up before dressing.

45 minutes later, he's outside Izuku's room, rapping the door with his knuckles. A black hoodie jacket with red trim sits over a white t-shirt and black cargo pants, both of them more resistant to water than normal clothes. He has a raincoat as well, dark blue, and dark boots he's dragged his pants legs over.]

[ Petty grudges and Katsuki Bakugo - name a more iconic pair.

Izuku opens the door with a bright smile. He's ended up in jeans - go figure - and a cardigan over a t-shirt. He's also got a raincoat, so that's useful...as to shoes, he's uh, wearing sneakers so whatever... ]

Kacchan! All ready to go then? You look bundled up.

[Izuku and Katsuki. Boom.]

You don't have any boots?

[He gestures down to Izuku's feet, then tilts his head towards the window at the end of the hall. Might not be raining as hard, but the puddles and potential for more rain are still present. Figured he'd ask just in case it slipped Izuku's excitable brain.]

Oh! [ He just...likes his sneakers. Izuku dips back into his room - Katsuki can come if he wants? Izuku has a lot more Stuff already, most of it having to do with that mech series he's really into in the AU...which he's now also actively enjoying as himself, so. ]

Totally didn't even think about it.

[It's wet outside! That's a good way to ruin those sneakers that you like! Katsuki crosses his arms over his hips in irritation as Izuku runs back inside. Tch. Honestly, this guy...

He does step in since he's there, looking around the room. Not even two months in and Izuku's room looks as nerdy as his dorm room. He's gonna have to watch this show at some point.]

I noticed.

[ Please do. Izuku needs more people to talk to and theorize with in terms of Duoventure............he has problems. And notes. He takes off his shoes quickly and then goes for the boots. It's a bit weird to wear shoes instead of slippers inside the house, but this isn't Japan, so... ]

[Katsuki may or may not become a sounding board. Depends on the series. If he finds it sucks, he'll drop it. (And yes, he knows, Deku. He knows. Lots of problems.) Katsuki doesn't yet feel too strange with the shoes versus slippers, mostly because this place doesn't feel comfortable to him yet. The shoes in the house kind of punctuates that feeling.]

You already filled your room up this much...

Well, a lot of it was "mine" already at the place I was "living at" before Dodo...I figured why not keep it.

[ Because...well, he had it. Why not? ]

[Like, is he supposed to be at his, well... the Katsuki here's, parents' house?!]

Just...where "this me" lived...it's a bit weird for most of us, I think, so most people prefer Dodo house. Besides, you can use your magic in here but not out there...

So my parents are out there? In this world?

[Of course he remembers them. Their faces, their voices, where his mother is ironically much worse than the Katsuki who grew up in this world because Katsuki didn't pick up on as much of her aggressive habits and temper.

But... if his parents, his house, his room, his life is out there in this world, really out there physically and ready...

What the fuck is he doing in here?! Did his presence erase this world's Katsuki from existence?!]

[ How it works is in your AU you can have family SIMILAR to yours, but they're different enough they're not those people...in case those people apply in. So... ]

Not yours. Your...the AU version of a family. Mine's nice enough, but...

[ Izuku does love his mother too much to feel totally comfortable staying out there. ]

And...I remember growing up with you here...but I also don't think that was the case until you were here. It's like - It's like a whole new level of the memories from here unfolded after I saw you, and now they're always there.

[ Weird, but not unwelcome. Izuku finishes lacing up his boots. ]

Until you were here, in this world...my childhood friend group was a bit different.

[Yeah that's how it's structured, but does raise the question about "your character" being the same enough to be "you" just in a different world. Might not be Inko who raised Izuku, but the raised Izuku would still be Izuku in an AU.

Which doesn't entirely abate Katsuki's momentary concern about his AU parents suddenly not having their son come home. They're out there in Crane City, in a home he knows but has never "seen" physically for himself.]

So the me from here hasn't come home yet...

[He understands what Izuku implies about being conflicted over loving his own parents enough to feel uncomfortable expressing the same to the AU parents. He wouldn't feel comfortable either.]

It's like a game updating a new character, fitting them into the world and people's memories and backstories.

[Great. He's become a fucking DLC character to the base game.]

Well...I mean, yeah, if you want to go home you can? I've found they sort of - it like, anticipates us living in the house, and they think we're dorming here.

[ A light shrug. He DOES try to visit his fake!mom off and on because he feels badly otherwise, but it's...not the same. ]

And...yeah, exactly. I mean, you were always already in my memories because of home, but now there's just even more memories of Kacchan...but I also remember not having those while I was here?
