His name is Juuzou. He's someone I was looking for when I got here. I think he was a little overwhelmed, I didn't know he was with the new group of people. They had to put him in a cell. I only found out by chance.

The number one hero in America is wrong, just like the number one hero in Japan can be, too. Killing is wrong. If Shigaraki made the decision to kill you does that not make it right in his eyes? You are better than that, Bakugo. Being above shitty things like being a murderer for convenience and not self-defense is what makes a hero. You are a hero.

Villains don't have to deal with these kind of fucking chains! (They have to deal with plenty of others.) It's frustrating because he knows, if Shigaraki kills someone here, unlikely as that will be, it's going to be on Bakugo's shoulders.

[Is there a difference between "murder" and "killing"? Because murder tends to be selfishly motivated while killing is more self-defense or safety. But if you kill to protect what you want, is that a selfish motive? Death should never be an option.

[Every situation is different, every reason or need is different, but it's all the same in the end. A life is lost and that's why it should be the last resort, not the easy one.

[Not the easy one. Bakugo knows the answer to the question, but the frustration remains. The guarded "I know" remains on the screen because he doesn't have an easy time opening up to other people. Besides, both of them know this discussion is pointless in the end.]

[It's not a pointless situation if Bakugo needs to talk about it. Not to Shoto, at least and he knows that Bakugo is deflecting in the only way he can. Bakugo also knows the answer to his own question regarding what Shoto was trying to do.]

I didn't attack him, we agreed to meet and fight. If I won, his wager was accepting me. It was the only chance I had to try to make his life better. Obviously, neither of us won and we both lost.

It's fucked up if telling someone you care about them just makes them hate you more. He's not your brother right now; the only time he is is when he can use it against you.

He is my brother. If he hates me or not, if he's a villain or not, nothing changes blood.

[But thing is, Dabi doesn't want to be his brother unless it's convenient for Dabi. That's what Bakugo feels. Shoto's reaching out for a burning coal and thinks he's going to somehow turn off the burn.

It's not something Bakugo can understand, being an only child. Just like how he can't understand Izuku's Quirklessness or the bullied life he led. And he knows that.]

Does that make my father any less a father just because physically he is? He's my brother, Bakugo. I'm not proud of what he does, but physically or otherwise it's who he is.

[He's already been burned by it. Fires as hot as hell twice and he can't imagine how that felt for Touya either. But, just as much, it doesn't matter. He's got to think of it objectively.]

That's what I'm assessing. I say I want the best life for him and then I present him with one of the things he hates the most. Myself. If I was anything but a selfish person, I would just leave him alone, he doesn't want to be saved.

[The argument is from two sides that don't connect. What makes a brother? What makes a father? Biological ties can only go so far before that father or brother is just a god damn title. But it's not his place to say such more than what he has.

Perhaps he's irritated, even defensive, that his classmate was put through so much due to clinging to those ties. Unfortunately in Shoto's case, "hero" and "family" overlap too much in his life to every separate them.]

[That's a huge maybe, but Bakugo's words are often two fold and the hidden gem under it is an encouragement from Shoto's blond friend not to lose heart just yet. Further solidified by the other text.]

I want him to have the life he's denying himself at this point. Even if it's without my father and I, I don't want him to have to live in the shadows or do what he did back home just because it's what he knows.

[He'll advise him to be cautious, criticize his recent choice, and even suggest he take a fucking step back and break for a bit, but Bakugo won't be telling him to "give up" on this. He's not stupid. He knows when a person should be told to can it and leave and when saying that is fucking pointless. This is one of the latter cases. Shoto won't give this up.

Only, he has a feeling the end results won't be what Shoto (and Endeavor) really want. This isn't some fairy tale ending on the horizon. Endeavor robbed the world of a hero who could've been great and in return, created a wreck that you can't just.. bang or cajole back to being what could've been.]

[Bakugo's advice is always the best advice, Midoriya is good at it too and Shoto is lucky. But it's true, his father robbed the world of what could've been an incredible force for good. There had to be something that could've been done to tame Touya's flames from burning him alive. Maybe Shoto is doing more harm than good trying to help his brother.]

I told him that I know he's a villain, I know he's a murderer, I know he's a threat to me and I know how he says he feels. I also told him that while I don't condone it, I accept it and that I saw a human in that video. So yes. I told him he doesn't have to be that anymore. I should have taken someone else with me but I was afraid he'd think it was an attack, so all I have is my word that's what I told him.

[Could've been. Probably was. But that's in the past now. Bakugo had spoken to Dabi about such a thing, even agreed that it's highly likely the Support Course could come up with something that would help him not burn himself. But the thing is, Dabi's made his choices and there are going to be consequences for them. Same as everyone else. It's not that Shoto's doing harm to his brother for trying to help; it's that trying to help someone who doesn't want to be helped can lead to two people drowning instead of one.

Can't say "try to befriend him" can't say "keep your distance" can't say "beat him up". Shoto's in a tricky place right now. What he can do is simply... let himself be available without forcing the availability offer.]

[There's a lot of things the Todoroki family could do differently, maybe. Starting from a million different avenues that could've been taken and aren't just his father's fault. But they're here, today, and no one knows what the right move is aside leaving things alone until Touya is ready. If that ever happens.]

I said it to his face like it should've been. You wouldn't have hidden behind a phone either. If a fight happens, it'll be because it just happens. I worried everyone and gained nothing for it, a hard lesson I don't want to repeat.
