[Katsuki dices his up a few times and starts in, getting egg and rice in each bite because he's weird like that.

They can do presents after this... even if he does give wary glances to the Christmas tree each time he passes it throughout the season.

[ Izuku just goes bite by bite without being too finicky. He's excited for presents but trying to eat at a normal pace so he doesn't choke.

Izuku hasn't been suspicious of the tree. It was only that once after all. ]

[Once is enough for Katsuki. Still gonna throw some shady glares at it because of what happened. At least the vine didn't ruin their tree and put all the decorations back on.]

[ Izuku lapses into silence as he chows down. No reason to get too chatty and let the food go cold and get scolded for it. Besides, he's starving.

The meal will be just about enough for him, but he'll probably need a snack before lunch. ]

[He'll try not to do much scolding during Christmas... Try. But he secretly appreciates Izuku's appetite and enjoyment of the food. Taking a rest from the omurice with his fruit, Katsuki glances over to the jar of ginger snaps they made the other night. Proverbial "deaf cookies" because that happened...]

Do you know sign language?

[ Katsuki gets a Look that is in its own way long suffering. He knows Katsuki couldn't listen that day in particular, but... ]

I offered like three times to sign for you and actively did once. You were kind of too preoccupied to notice, I think.

[ He automatically tries to be fair about it. ]

[The first time he asked him, Katsuki was about ready to blow up. The rest of of the night, cookies and games and all, is kind of a blur, but not a negative one.

He notices the Look and quickly jerks his eyes somewhere else, lower jaw sticking out in a pout. One of those "caught red-handed" Katsuki expressions.]

[ Ah. Katsuki did the thing where he didn't want to admit he didn't know something and just kept ignoring it, then...Izuku hadn't noticed largely because Katsuki kept missing perfectly ordinary things he said, too. ]

Okay, sure. It's bound to be useful one way or another.

[So fucking what? Shut up. He taught himself to read lips, but never found the time or reason for sign language. He had to look at Izuku to read his hands anyways, so why not just read his lips?

... It's a still a skill Izuku knows that he doesn't and That Cannot Be.]

[ Izuku signs something in response, because he doesn't really flip people off but he assumes saying something Katsuki can't understand will have the same overall cosmic effect.

(He probably signed something nice. So it's just the act.) ]

So you're currently losing?

[Katsuki gives him a look cause he has no idea what Izuku just said in his sign language. But since the signing it's aggressive or pointed, he assumes it's probably not a negative thing... As expected.]

[ He's not teasing in a mean way - he never does. Just making it into the sort of competition he assumes Katsuki will make it into anyway. ]

[How does he NOT expect that to ignite the other boy on fire.]

[Gonna order a fucking book on it tonight or might even take some online lessons.

Or, you know, do what he said and have Izuku teach him.]

I know. Did you want to designate specific days for lessons?

[ Katsuki tends to prefer to schedule some of their activities. ]

Tuesday and Thursday.

[And likely while they're washing off before a bath or other snuck in times.]

But I might, or we might lose our voices, or we might be in a situation where we don't want to talk because an enemy could hear us.

[That was his plan anyways. Might end up with a bunch of different things going on. But at least they'll have breakfast down? And lunch just needs to get shoved in the oven.]
