[ Izuku lapses into silence as he chows down. No reason to get too chatty and let the food go cold and get scolded for it. Besides, he's starving.

The meal will be just about enough for him, but he'll probably need a snack before lunch. ]

[He'll try not to do much scolding during Christmas... Try. But he secretly appreciates Izuku's appetite and enjoyment of the food. Taking a rest from the omurice with his fruit, Katsuki glances over to the jar of ginger snaps they made the other night. Proverbial "deaf cookies" because that happened...]

Do you know sign language?

[ Katsuki gets a Look that is in its own way long suffering. He knows Katsuki couldn't listen that day in particular, but... ]

I offered like three times to sign for you and actively did once. You were kind of too preoccupied to notice, I think.

[ He automatically tries to be fair about it. ]

[The first time he asked him, Katsuki was about ready to blow up. The rest of of the night, cookies and games and all, is kind of a blur, but not a negative one.

He notices the Look and quickly jerks his eyes somewhere else, lower jaw sticking out in a pout. One of those "caught red-handed" Katsuki expressions.]

... then teach me.

[ Ah. Katsuki did the thing where he didn't want to admit he didn't know something and just kept ignoring it, then...Izuku hadn't noticed largely because Katsuki kept missing perfectly ordinary things he said, too. ]

Okay, sure. It's bound to be useful one way or another.

[So fucking what? Shut up. He taught himself to read lips, but never found the time or reason for sign language. He had to look at Izuku to read his hands anyways, so why not just read his lips?

... It's a still a skill Izuku knows that he doesn't and That Cannot Be.]

[And flicks him off.]

[ Izuku signs something in response, because he doesn't really flip people off but he assumes saying something Katsuki can't understand will have the same overall cosmic effect.

(He probably signed something nice. So it's just the act.) ]

So you're currently losing?

[Katsuki gives him a look cause he has no idea what Izuku just said in his sign language. But since the signing it's aggressive or pointed, he assumes it's probably not a negative thing... As expected.]

Huh? The fuck am I losing?

At the number of signs you know.

[ He's not teasing in a mean way - he never does. Just making it into the sort of competition he assumes Katsuki will make it into anyway. ]

[How does he NOT expect that to ignite the other boy on fire.]

I'm not gonna stay behind you in anything!

[Gonna order a fucking book on it tonight or might even take some online lessons.

Or, you know, do what he said and have Izuku teach him.]

I know. Did you want to designate specific days for lessons?

[ Katsuki tends to prefer to schedule some of their activities. ]

Tuesday and Thursday.

[And likely while they're washing off before a bath or other snuck in times.]

[ He likes that flare of competition. ]

Okay, sure. If something like this happens again we'll be ready.

But I might, or we might lose our voices, or we might be in a situation where we don't want to talk because an enemy could hear us.

["But I might" he says and Katsuki instantly thinks he's got a point...

Dammit, Deku. But he nods at the response anyways because the other example is sound.]

We can do that later today.

[After presents and stuff, if they're not distracted by other shit.]

[ And maybe any other holiday celebrations he can wring out. Watching a holiday special under the kotatsu, for example... ]

[That was his plan anyways. Might end up with a bunch of different things going on. But at least they'll have breakfast down? And lunch just needs to get shoved in the oven.]

[ Izuku kind of lets Katsuki meal plan while trying to handle a lot of the shopping and prep work and cleaning to even it out... ]

I'm pretty much done anyway.

[So far they've managed to balance out the work for the holidays. Katsuki does handle a bulk of the planning and stuff, but he's slowly (SLOWLY) learning to let Izuku handle errands and other delegations. Not just busywork.]

Dishes in the sink.

[ He hasn't been accosted on his errands yet! And if he is someday, well. Katsuki did it first. ]

I know, I'll wash them before we start.

[Managed to avoid the vines too? Impressive. HE DID WHAT?! Accosted Izuku on his errands?!]

Dishwasher's empty.

[ Katsuki got accosted by Mahito when on errands! ]

Kay. [ Izuku gathers his own dishes to go rinse off before putting them away, thoroughly because he tries not to skimp on chores ever. ]

[Shit, don't remind him of losing agreements! Izuku's probably got his turn coming up at some point... Mr. Try to Drown Himself.

Katsuki finishes up his meal and then passes his dishes to the sink around Izuku's shoulder, leaving him to clean up both their dishes while he goes to put away the rest of the rice mixture and the remaining omelette sheets.]
