[What's it been? Almost a day since they got blown out of the damn heart chamber? Two days? More? Fuck, he doesn't remember. Hit his head harder than he thought. But as much as he'd tried to contact Scott afterwards, all he got was static. Something fucked up in the watch and it took a while for the damn thing to get back off the fritz. Whatever, he knew Scot wasn't gone or dead at least, and he could use some time to himself to deal with what he saw... what happened.
And look who it is. Tch, right. They need to talk about it.]
[There's no disguising his relief when he sees Bakugo answer him.
At least no one is really here to see him make such an expression-- or how a large breath of air exhales from his lungs. Bakugo's alive, which he figured, but it's just good to see this. Even if he's being himself. Maybe that's an even better sign. Yeah, for some reason, he couldn't reach the other teen, and he's been experiencing some weird feelings and after effects from everything that's happened that he took some time for himself.
Maybe he's just exhausted too. There's also some guilt for dragging people around the tunnels with him. Being fooled by those voices. Of course Bakugo was right about that.]
i'm in front of your door and you didn't answer. already at the talon?
[Of course he's alive! Did Scott seriously think that level of impact would kill him?! He's gonna have to kick his ass for doubting him in the slightest. Though not being able to reach him for a while left Bakugo feeling a prick of concern more than once over the past few days. At least Scott's name and contact didn't leave the watch, so he knew he was still here. Both... a good and a bad thing, unfortunately.
They need to talk about a few things anyways.]
shit
no, my rank changed two days ago. i'll come get you.
[Ha ha ha. Yeah, prepare to get knocked off your feet, Scott. Bakugo makes it down to the basement floors a lot faster than most people, since he can easily jump the railing and fall the entire distance. A single "boom" popping him before he lands.
Scott doesn't even know where Bakugo's coming from, so he wouldn't know if halfway was 2 floors or 5.]
i'm coming out of the stairwell.
[And pushes the door open, heading into the lobby proper.]
[Of course Bakugo is already there by the time he makes it to the ground floor of the lobby. Scott's showing some signs of exhaustion himself, though some of it is at least hidden behind those ever present sunglasses. It's more reflected in the way he's carrying himself, posture just a little more worn, though he does his best to straighten up more when he sees his friend standing at the lobby floor.
He doesn't raise a hand in greeting, but still beelines over to him. If there's a slightly worried if relieved look on his face, sue him.]
Still standing, huh? [He tries for a small tease, though it's clear that Scott's leaning onto something just a little more serious.]
[Bakugo notes the signs, since he's used to reading Scott's expressions without seeing his eyes by now. The way his brows crimp or rise, the state of his forehead and the set of his jaws, of course his mouth, and even the tension of his neck are all pretty telling. Hell, he knows (most of the time) when Scott rolls his eyes.
This one's a lot more in his posture and Bakugo picks up his pace slightly when he notices Scott's hinted haggard. What the hell? He shouldn't have been winded from three flights of stairs! What kind of X-man does that make him?]
Urusei. Did the stairs kick your ass? [Despite his growl and flippancy, an undercurrent of concern licks at his words. He notes the tilt in the mutant's voice, then inclines his head to the side, suggesting they head for a bench nearby. There's a water cooler close beside a potted plant if wanted.]
[A small huff leaves Scott at that. Yeah, thanks for the greeting, asshole. Though Scott can't help but also check Bakugo for any signs of exhaustion or injury, the leader in him-- no, the friend in him wanting to see if he's okay. This is the first time they've met since they were ejected from the heart and. That's going to be something to talk about, but right now...]
I'm fine, man. I don't need to sit. I thought you were going to show me your new room?
[He's being stubborn, he knows he is. But he thinks he's fine, even though he can hear the worry in Bakugo's words. Yeah, he knows that, has long figured out that Bakugo is the type to hide his concern through that gruff behavior.]
[He's neither tired nor hurt. Despite the hotel throwing him hard and his own explosion plastering him into the ceiling like a damn fly, at best he had bruises on his knees, chin, and arms. Those faded after a day or two, since he's been thrown through concrete walls and come out with only scuff marks. And if he was hurt, does Scott really think he'd show it? Yeah right. Bakugo shoves his hands into his pockets.]
Don't pass out on the way. [Two can play that game. Bakugo can be an aggressive caretaker when he wants to, but other times he's more than willing to watch his companion faceplant, then mock them for it or yell at them. This is one of those latter times. He turns back to the stairwell and heads for it, shouldering the door open and doesn't bother holding it. Though it's wide enough it won't swing back in time to hit Scott if he doesn't delay.]
How about we walk this time?
[Yeah, there's a devilish grin on his face, deliberately trying to mess with Scott's current state. Come on, admit you're tired and need a lift, man.]
[He fires back, the retort coming instantly and almost too easily. Maybe a tad challenging, but it kind of feels good in away. Slotting into something familiar between them. Like things will be fine. It does ease some of the tension in his chest, although he still plans on talking about all that shit with him soon.
Just getting to his room first-- why are they taking the stairs?? Whatever. Probably some challenge from his friend and he's not going to back down. He'll show him, the need to proof himself rising up in the mutant and helping to push down any exhaustion. Yeah he'll crash later, but whatever.]
Fine. [With a challenging and almost taunting look, he passes/follows Bakugo and starts climbing up the stairs.] Don't bitch about it to me later.
[He wouldn't show signs of exhaustion or injury even if he had one! A quick walk and fall down the stairs is absolutely nothing to his stamina! Making him wonder why the hell Scott's a little breathy in the first place. Did he run here? Or was something taxing his health? Someone else he met a while ago came down with a "bug" of sorts.
They're taking the stairs because Bakugo was warned about the elevators on his first day here, by four different people, one of whom he trusted, and that was enough for him to abandon ever using the damn things. A vow he's stuck with even to this day. And he's not gonna break it. It'd take a life or death issue to force that. And since he can travel faster than the damn elevators... more complications would be required.]
Why the hell would I bitch about it? You're the one winded already.
Because you're not breathing hard after all that shouting. [Just snarking. Basic communication.] And I'm not winded, sure you're not seeing things? I thought I had the limited vision.
[Then more walking up more stairs. Up a flight, and then another. He thought that Bakugo would be promoted to rank 4 or 5, maybe 6, but... is it more than that? The surprise runs through him, though not enough to stop Scott from giving back his usual retort. It's fully necessary, obviously.]
Where is your new suite anyway? [He's really not winded!! He's fine! But he figures to ask now because they're climbing more stairs than he expected. It's honestly more of a mental exhaustion dragging him down anyway, than physical. ...Course, he hasn't been getting the best sleep lately because of said mental exhaustion.
Shouting doesn't make me tired! [What a crap assumption to make! Even if they're bickering over nothing but bullshit now. He gives Scott a look when he denies being winded. Right...
Another set of stairs, then another. 6 left behind, followed by 7, then 8. He's not even using the railings on these grand shitty staircases. Who the hell puts carpet on stairs?! Asking for a shit-ton of accidents and injuries when people slip and fall. Hellish static shock in the winter.
Damn, he really should force Scott to figure it out through trial. Climbing until they reach 9, then 10. Okay so technically the paired numbers are on the same floor(s), meaning it's not THAT large a climb. But reaching the floors where Jacks and Aces reside, Bakugo pauses by the impressive double doors leading to the fleet of suites.]
I'm an Ace.
[Half bragging with that shit grin of his, half serious because this implies a few things he can't talk about. Bakugo pushes open the door and heads into the halls. During that winter rank swap, he was a Queen.
[He rolls his eyes. He can't help but remember that their very first encounter was the other teen brushing his teeth so hard that he thought his gums were going to bleed, so. Yeah. That retort was expected. He'd honestly be worried otherwise.
But fuck, they're still going up more stairs??
His surprise by all this is overtaking the slow exhaustion that's been building up. There's a brief thought that Bakugo is just doing this to fuck with him, but that doesn't feel like the case? He thinks he can read his friend decently well. So, if they're going up all these flights... was he promoted to a high rank? A king? Queen?? When did that happen?
Figuring all this out, his shock is less prominent by the time they reach those double doors, but his mouth is still parted as he looks at Bakugo with a questioning glance. Explain dude.]
How did you get to an Ace so fast? You were a 3 just a few days ago.
[But he follows him into the halls, taking in just how... fancy everything is. Definitely a sharp contrast to the dingy floor of 3s. Shit man. So this where Bakugo is going to be staying for now on, huh?
There's a stupid little feeling. One that Scott immediately squishes down, just a little disappointed that he can't just easily walk down the hall and knock on his door just to bother him. You're being stupid, Summers.]
[He would've been irked if Scott hadn't figured out some of the surprise before they got to the floor. Bakugo's not one to lie about something, so his ascension to this floor meant this was the rank he was at now. Not a damn fake out. With a push, the door opens and he leads Scott into the large hallways. Impressive as fuck and overly-gaudy in Bakugo's opinion, but that's 90% of the damn resort. Chandeliers overhead, sconces on the walls, paintings, gilded wall decor, crystal mirrors, rich carpet, and so forth. Even an elevator, which Bakugo never uses.]
Gag order.
[Which is unfortunately the most he can say about it. He inferred it himself during his interactions with the scant few people ranking topics came up with. As much as he'd like to tell Scott... the mutant will have to suss it out himself with his own questions and assumptions.
Bakugo understands some of what Scott feels as he looks around the halls; they aren't on the same floor anymore and he'd come to silently look for the guy in the communal bathrooms when he was brushing his teeth or getting ready. Their schedules rarely lined up enough for that, but sometimes...
He stops in front of his own double doors, another impressive set of panels matching the doors along the palatial hall. Suites apparently are different, but doors to them are same same. A quick scan of his watch unlocks the door and he heads inside, opening up to a large foyer.
Unfortunately, given how new he is, Bakugo's suite hasn't adapted to his preferences, so it's still stuck on GOLDEN EVERYTHING RICH SHIT DRIP default, gleaming satin and silks on furniture reflecting the fake sunlight glowing through the windows.]
Eventually the suite's gonna change to my preferences, but I haven't fucked around with it yet.
[Still, several large bedrooms, multiple bathrooms, living rooms and lounges, dining areas, a changing rec room he can adjust as he likes, an impressive kitchen, and doors that randomly lead to other places in the hotel... which Bakugo keeps fucking locked at all times because that's just creepy as hell.]
[There's a small frown that tugs at the corner of Scott's mouth at that answer. He doesn't think Bakugo is the type to hide information, not if he can help it, so it's likely that he's in some strict rules about keeping all that a secret. Still kind of annoys him, even though he's still mostly glad that his friend doesn't have to live in those shitty quarters anymore with the shared bathrooms. Yeah, he will miss him, like a whole fucking lot, but he can still see him. Not like this is goodbye.
Don't be fucking dramatic about it, Summers. You're being stupid.
He shoves his hands inside his pocket, all that prior exhaustion gone, as he fights down stupid emotions. Maybe he can distract himself by looking at the gaudy decorations, everything so over the top, it reeks of opulence. Yeah. They waste no expense treating 'royalty' like royalty. Bakugo's suite is similarly decorated, so much of that same color (golden??) that the mutant can't help but snort. Maybe he's glad that he has to wear sunglasses right now.]
Yeah? And here I thought that you liked everything covered in gold and shitting in a golden toilet.
[This place is huge though. The open area leading to multiple rooms, the large dining area, so much. It's like having his own personal hotel in just a single room. Scott finds himself plopping down on the armrest of a couch, figuring to just sit there for a moment as he takes everything in.]
So, been hiding out in here since the whole thing with the heart.
[Scott's assuming right. Bakugo would've told him, as he's sure anyone else who found out and knew would tell people the liked, but none of them are able to. The few people he spoke to about it made that clear with their lack of answers and dismissing the topic. Not without a hint or two, knowing he'd pick up on it. Bakugo likewise isn't able to reveal much to Scott, but he trusts the guy might clue into things while they talk.
As for not seeing each other so frequently anymore... hey, Bakugo has a lot of rooms he's not using. Scott knows he's welcome to the blonde's room at any time when he was a 3. Mind the usual curt greeting or initial irritation he's known for when people invade his personal space. Nothing's changed about that regardless of Bakugo's rank.
They'll probably talk about it soon enough. He lets Scott look around as he heads for the kitchen. A quick tug on the fridge door (one of three, fridges, by the way) pops it open and he reaches inside for two bottled waters. Yeah, all this shit was ridiculously gaudy, but in time it'll take shape to something he prefers. Who the hell wants to wake up to a bunch of fucking gold covering every square inch of the suite?!]
Ha ha ha. Fucking hilarious. [And tosses the water bottle towards him.] Heads up.
[Should've whapped him in the damn head with it for that comment. Yeah, the royalty suites were often described as mini hotels or miniature resorts within the hotel resort. The King and Queen suites are even more ridiculous than the Ace and Jack. Bakugo would know; he was a Queen for a month.]
Haa?! I don't hide, dammit! I didn't get this thing until two days ago!
[Three fridges?! Well, guess Bakugo can store all of his water and protein drinks or whatever else there now. It'd almost feel like an endless supply of all the stuff he likes. Scott definitely won't feel bad snagging something from his fridge whenever he stops by. Which. He knows that he will. Of course. He's not so dramatic to think that the other teen will never want to see him again.
Really stupid.
He catches the water bottle with one hand, mumbling a small thanks before he starts twisting the cap off so that he can take a good drink out of it. After walking all those stairs and just feeling a little exhausted in general, this really hits the spot. He wipes his mouth with the top of his hand-- before a familiar smirk eases across Scott's face when Bakugo starts shouting at him again.
Yeah. Alright.]
So how does it happen anyway? You just get notified that your rank improved and you're escorted to your new room? [Or hmmm.] Or I guess you knew that your rank changed.
[One fridge in the kitchen, one in the master bedroom, and one in what will eventually be his study or workout room. Probably with mini-fridges in other areas for cold water or something like that. Hasn't bothered to memorize where everything is in two damn days. An endless supply is a good description. There's enough shit in here to embarrass him. Despite growing up with well-off parents, he never was all that keen on drowning himself in materialistic things. Sure, as a kid he was super happy to grab all the All Might toys and collectibles, but growing up changes some things.
And yeah, Scott needn't worry about Bakugo's relationship with him. He mostly gunned for this rank to use its power against the hotel, not because it came with a fancy ass room. He's not gonna abandon one of his closest relationships for a fucking glitter-bomb locale.
Bakugo twists his cap free with a snap and screw, the lifts it to his lips. But at the same time, he's not gonna ignore what the suite can provide for him. Climate control, window view changing, and so forth. Bakugo leans against the kitchen island and sets the bottle on its end.]
I got a notif on the watch saying my rank changed and I had to be out of my room by the end of the day. [Wouldn't want to be rude to new guests who might need his basement room. Though anyone who gets Bakugo's old room is gonna be impressed at how well he cleaned and kept the place.] Here.
[Bakugo scrolls through his watch's messages, finds the notification, then holds his wrist out to Scott so he can see it. The coordinates of his new room are at the bottom of the message, along with some lip service the Peacock likes to give.]
[Use what advantage that you do have. Scott's all for that sort of mindset, especially when it comes to breaking out of this place. Overthrowing the House. Both, hopefully. That's the goal. Even if they were ejected from the heart of the casino, they are still here and able to fight. Maybe in a way, they're getting closer. Something like that doesn't seem all that common. And now his friend has a higher rank, something to definitely use.
He plans to bring it up soon. Maybe even the fact that he saw the heart twice. He gunned back down, bumped into another close friend along the way, half determined to see if he could get another shot at it and also worried that Bakugo might've been down there still. It wasn't like he could reach him through the watches after for whatever bullshit reason.
But right now, he looks at Bakugo's watch, reading the messages that's available. He knows that his friend can't talk about it much, so even this little bit is helpful.]
They really changed their tune after you got promoted. [Is what Scott eventually lands on, eyes turning back up to look at Bakugo. Finally, a small smile seems to twitch at the corner of his mouth.] Really trying to suck your dick about it.
[...] And now I won't be able to rely on your shouting from down the hall to wake up me every morning.
[Overthrowing the House is going to take a lot more on than one person getting a new rank. Bakugo's aware they're not going to get out of this unless all of them work together. Which is a fucking huge ask... He'll do his part for now, opting not to make a rash or reckless action until a solid, winning battle plan is ready and everyone else is on board. They have one shot if/when they make their stand, and they need to make it happen then and there.
Unfortunately the message doesn't really offer much in way of hinting or suggestion on how things were done. Bakugo can't even show him the riddle the house sent him to answer. Gag orders suck, but as with the few he spoke to about it before, now he's accepted the proverbial muzzle. Annoying, but a small price to pay for the benefits. Besides, Scott's smart. He can figure it out with his own questions over time.]
No shit. This place's social wheel's a fucking shithole. [He lowers his arm and goes back to his drink, bringing it to his lips for another swallow. For having his issues with the house and the heart, he seems to be doing well enough. Bakugo snorts when Scott has to be a perv about it and flicks some water at him.] I don't want that asshole anywhere near my dick.
[Ironic comment and they both know it.]
Urusei! I'll call you when I get up and blow your ears off!!
Only certain assholes. [He's smirking. Why is he having fun--] I know.
[He was honestly expecting Bakugo to throw something at him, so he catches the apple without any trouble. And he also takes a bite out of it. Thanks man. He did get a little hungry after walking all those steps. Maybe he should be a bitch and ask Bakugo to cook for him sometime at his fancy new suite. Heh.]
Looks like I'll continue to keep watch at the lower ranks for now. [He shrugs. He really doesn't care too much about having a giant ass room, but mostly just wanting one with a personal toilet. That's what matters the most to him.] But I'll be sure to stop by just to piss in your toilet.
[And of course, sleep over. Does he want to admit that much?? Out loud? He kind of feels like doing it today, especially since he is tired still. A part of him just wants to slump against Bakugo and sleep against him-- a stupidly affectionate thought because ugh.]
Hilarious. [Scott, the perverted dad joke teller. Bakugo pushes away from the counter and swings around the island, lifting his hand to gesture the mutant to follow him. Time for a more personal tour rather than a simple talk about it. They can look at all the different rooms. Bring your apple.
Like the rest of the food in the hotel, the fruit's excellent quality. Hopefully Scott's rested enough from all that walking. It'll take a bit to get through his massive suite. Hey, if Scott wants to stay over for dinner, he isn't gonna get turned down. Might even get to cook alongside him.]
They'll be fine. Some people want to stay in the lower ranks for their own reasons. [He knows at least three of them. Well Scott can always come up and use Bakugo's bathroom if the blonde's in? Which... is somewhat of a hit or miss given the guy keeps a schedule through the week. Thanks for reading his mind, Scott.] If that's all you do, you're gonna fucking clean it too.
[Is that a grumpy way of saying he wants Scott to stick around when he visits? Probably. Not like he's gonna admit anything. Anyways, for the time being, this giant ass place is the living room, complete with couches (one's a foldout), entertainment system, windows with a scenic view (fake), fireplace, library, and other amenities.]
[With another bite of his apple, Scott starts following Bakugo. And despite all his earlier comments, he is kind of impressed with the different rooms that the other hero now has for himself. The thought of just stopping by and hanging out also feels easier, now that his friend is giving him a tour of everything.
After all the shit from a few days ago... it means a lot.]
Less attention and stuff with the lower ranks. You will have to deal with your own fanclub now. [Other guests fawning over him. Staff sucking up to him majorly. But Scott supposes that probably isn't all that much different than how hero stuff goes in his world. It's so bizarre, whenever he fully thinks about it, but at least preferable to the stuff that Getou told him. Yeah, that whole system is shit.
But focusing on the friend that's still giving him a tour...]
So, if I stay more and sleep over, I won't have to clean it. Got it. [Sounds like a good deal to him-- and maybe just admitting that he's going to do all that without being too mushy about it.
The living room is definitely nice too, but not surprising. There really hasn't been a dud of a room. He takes another bite of his apple as he looks at the entertainment system, before shifting his focus to the fake scenic view.]
Wow, even got your fake windows. [...Maybe a reminder that they're still trapped though, huh?]
[Bakugo has a few companions here with a higher rank, but his pride generally refused to mooch off them unless it was a special occasion, or they invited him to come see them. He made his rank 3 room work, and whoever's getting it after him (provided the resort staff doesn't fuck it up on purpose) is gonna get a well-kept room with quiet the attention to preserving detail. He'll be keeping the same efficiency in his new suite.]
Those fucking bastards'll learn to leave me alone. [A few small explosions crash and pop around his palm, implying exactly what Scott figures he means. He already spent a month as a Queen and had to blast the damn flockers off several times. Hell, they're the reason Scott and he got trapped in the hall and made a break for the winter woodlands, leading to the cabin...]
You'll be cleaning the room you stay in. [Well, "cleaning" meaning he makes the bed at least and doesn't leave trash all over the floor. Mostly teasing, since he knows Scott takes care of his stuff as well. Probably not to the same high standards as Bakugo's ridiculous preferences, but enough it won't be a problem.]
Aa. You can change the scenery on the. I dunno how yet. [Just got here two days ago and one of those days was spent dealing with... post heart slam shit.] Che, it's all a buncha fucking distraction. Where do you live?
[Maybe he can switch the view to someplace Scott'll recognize? Now he has to go look at how to do that... A remote or something on the wall? Start looking too, Shades.]

A fact Hiyori never shied teasing him about.]

Date: 5/22/25 00:20 (UTC)But fuck, they're still going up more stairs??

Date: 5/23/25 00:41 (UTC)Gag order.

Date: 5/28/25 19:35 (UTC)Don't be fucking dramatic about it, Summers.

Date: 5/30/25 00:44 (UTC)As for not seeing each other so frequently anymore... hey, Bakugo has a lot of rooms he's not using.
[Rude!]

Date: 6/1/25 15:14 (UTC)Really stupid.
[Or hmmm.] Or I guess you knew that your rank changed.
no subject
Date: 6/1/25 23:25 (UTC)And yeah, Scott needn't worry about Bakugo's relationship with him.

Date: 6/3/25 00:47 (UTC)He plans to bring it up soon.
[He's asking to be hit--]

Date: 6/3/25 14:43 (UTC)Unfortunately the message doesn't really offer much in way of hinting or suggestion on how things were done.
[He's totally gonna wing an apple at him!]
no subject
Date: 6/4/25 00:32 (UTC)[He was honestly expecting Bakugo to throw something at him, so he catches the apple without any trouble.

Date: 6/4/25 23:45 (UTC)Like the rest of the food in the hotel, the fruit's excellent quality.
Anyways, for the time being, this giant ass place is the living room, complete with couches (one's a foldout), entertainment system, windows with a scenic view (fake), fireplace, library, and other amenities.]
no subject
Date: 6/5/25 18:45 (UTC)After all the shit from a few days ago... it means a lot.]
[...Maybe a reminder that they're still trapped though, huh?]
no subject
Date: 6/5/25 23:04 (UTC)Those fucking bastards'll learn to leave me alone.
