[Because apparently it does matter. Bakugo already knows what Esikko's stake is in this and he wonders if the man has any idea the kind of person he's apparently latching his feelings onto. In some ways, probably, but in other ways, probably not. Depends on what Dabi's decided to reveal about himself in this world.
There goes the rest of it. Bakugo narrows his eyes as Esikko approaches him like he's going to threaten him. Don't even try it. No surprise he revealed that little detail.]
He was looking for it too?
[News to him. Interesting Dabi would tell Esikko...]
Did you ever stop to consider that he knew where it was? That moving it isn't necessarily the reaction just anyone would have, or even that would feel right to do? This place is an entity— you have no idea what sort of threads are tying it to this place, or what you might do by relocating it.
( Mildly scolding, but it's not the issue so much that he moved it in general. It's the issue of not consulting someone else closely related to the person that the statue is. It's the deep-rooted anger relating to his own situation, to his own father, to the death that was stolen from him, to the lack of closure, the frustration, the searching, the lack of a body even more driving him insane—
He does reach out, to grip at the front of Bakugo's shirt. But he's weak. He's always been weak, and he can't do anything with these pathetic noodle ass arms— it's just that being physical like this is the only way he knows how to express intense emotions, the only way he's ever been taught, or shown. His fingers curl, desperate, emotional, weak, useless. )
Why are... why are you acting as if I'm insane, to be troubled by this?! I thought you were a hero! Aren't you supposed to care about the wellbeing of others?! If I took the statue of someone important to you, if I claimed it was for their own good, you'd be just as angry!
( Anger and heavy emotions mount to a point where Esikko can only see red, and without a thought, he reaches his free hand to try and slap Bakugo across the cheek. Whether or not he succeeds doesn't really matter— whether his hand hits or is caught by the wrist or anything else, he yells his answer just as easily. )
I was looking for him! I found him, back when I was messing with the roots of the House itself! Because I was the one who knew that people could turn to stone, who was trying to discover why, who was working with Hiyori so closely on it! And so yes, I did tell him where he was, he knew! He's always looking for him, you idiot! Why does that matter?!
[There's no way someone of his caliber would miss that windup. Esikko's hand slams against Bakugo's wrist, arm lifted and blocking the attempted impact. Barely budges. He's not going to let this guy get in some damn hit on him.
Red eyes narrow as the rest comes out. Right, just like he thought. It had nothing to do with the principle of the matter and all to do with Bakugo being the one to do it.]
I'll talk with him later.
[He already has a meeting set up with the villain.]
You're not the only one doing research on this shithole, baka.
( —having his hit blocked is almost as frustrating as having his concerns pushed aside. To Esikko, it is the principle— he'd be chewing out anyone who had thought to do this to this particular statue, to any statue of importance that he knew about like this, because of his own personal feelings on the matter. And so he grips harder at his shirt to just keep trying to smack at him, hand eventually curling into a fist for pathetic little pounds.
And eventually still, even his second hand releases the grip on the shirt to do the same. He's so mad, he wants this outlet!! He's doing absolutely nothing at all with this force, but he's half shaking in his attempts, showing his effort... Pathetic... )
You're not answering me! I know I'm not the only one, but why would you move them somewhere no one else can access without your permission?! You don't understand! You didn't see— you haven't felt— ughhh, you're pissing me off!!
( as if that's not inherently obvious by him wailing on him like a child )
Where are they?! At the very least, let me see that piece of shit father, just to make sure nothing has changed in how I sense him!
[Personal investment. Bakugo watches the prince pound at his shoulder and chest with weakening beats. Despite his anger, he understands where Esikko's coming from, even if he thinks the entire thing's stupid. Dabi doesn't need Esikko to fight his battles for him. If the guy has a problem with it, he can come to Bakugo in person and they'll deal with it. But for two weeks now, there's been no fucking problem. Now someone had to stick his nose in their business and claim it's all because emotions and bullshit.
Kind of weird as fuck to see people so emotionally invested in Dabi. Bakugo knew the guy as a mass murdering fuckhead back home who kidnapped him and tried to kill his classmates and mentor. Does Esikko know any of that? Who knows now.
Why?]
I told you already. I don't want this fucking place using them.
[Even if he doesn't have control over the house ripping the statues away sometime or replacing them or whatever the fuck it wants to do. In Bakugo's mind, he's protecting his world-mates' remains.
piece of shit fa-
*SNAP*
Bakugo abruptly fists Esikko's shirt this time, his face twisting into anger as several explosions crash harsh in his other hand.]
You fucking idiot! I don't know how much background Dabi's given you, but I'll bet it's only been partial and biased! You don't know everything that's happened in our world, what either of them have gone through, or how they've acted!
[Fingers tighten hard enough to grind the material of Esikko's shirt into his palm.]
It's not my place to spill all their bullshit to people I don't know, but push me one more fucking time, and I'll tell you every shitty detail until your brain fries!
( The grab, at least, immediately freezes Esikko from his relentless slapping and thwapping. His arms freeze mid-assault, a sharp glare focused in through tunnel vision that feels too isolating. Stupid, he was stupid, to feel any sort of disappointment, to have any sort of reluctance—
His voice lowers, at least, no longer yelling, but instead an anger coiled up and held back again. )
I bet I know more about him than you do.
( Slowly, he tries to focus on his breathing, to calm down, arms lowering and one of them catching on the wrist of the hand that's holding onto his shirt now. Cold fingers grip lightly, more to brace himself rather than anything else.
He knows. But more than just knowing, he agrees, he relates, he understands, he feels such an intense amount of empathy that it's painful. Foreign, too, but he doesn't want to let it go. He has trouble letting anything go. He knows he's not a good person, that Dabi's not a good person. But the worlds they live in— why should they be?
He searches Bakugo's face, though he's not sure what he'll find in it, a twitch of a frown betraying his complex mess of emotions right now. )
[Bakugo's expression remains the same. This asshole thinks he knows everything that happened, that he was given a full impartial shot of one person's experience in life, when that person could pick and choose what he revealed, shaped and molded as he saw fit! And he's going to take it all as solid truth?! THEN GET PISSED BAKUGO DIDN'T "take into consideration" SOMEONE'S FEELINGS?! Which he fucking did, thank you.
If that retort's supposed to be a jab, it misses by a mile and Bakugo releases Esikko's shirt with a scoff.]
I don't give a shit what you know.
[Who Dabi hangs with or interacts with isn't his business or concern. Of course people know him better; he's been here longer, had more time to make connections, and it's not like heroes or villains regularly interact outside of battles. Whatever Dabi's told Esikko...]
Tch.
[He turns his back on Esikko and heads across the suite. Someone like Esikko would sympathize with Dabi when it came to having a shitty father, huh. Wonder what else he sympathizes with. Murder of innocents? As much as he wants to spill all of that, he bites his tongue and keeps it in. It's not his fucking business.
Bakugo pushes open his bedroom door, then goes to the living room and flops down on the couch, kicking his legs up on the armrest with his hands thrown behind his head.
As they've been since last month, the statues of Endeavor and Hawks are in Bakugo's room. Carefully positioned to be as far away from any potential swinging doors or falling furniture or even chairs. There's a safe space around them so no harm comes to them.]
( He breathes that out in a huff, brushing his shirt smooth again as he follows him across the suite. Once the room is opened, he lets Bakugo wander back and steps into the bedroom himself, arms crossing uncomfortably at the sight of the statues.
He hasn't seen Hawks before, but Endeavor is familiar enough, and both give off the same supernatural sensation of being off, somehow. That's normal.
He does step closer, just to examine them better, but calls out to Bakugo as he does. )
How on earth can you sleep with them in the same room like this? I'm aware you might not be able to send them to the same level that I can, but this is just distracting, isn't it? Disturbing?
[He doesn't get a response from that. Threat? Or promise. Whichever way he wants to take it. Bakugo stays on the couch, letting Esikko explore the room unguarded or watched. For all the gaudiness of the suite, the room's been left alone save for the blonde's personal affects from his previous room.
Some weights to work out, his school supplies and books, his rice cooker + portable burner, clothes in the dresser, and so forth. Nothing much thanks to a lack of large space. You could fill a dorm room comfortably with his stuff without crowding.]
You wouldn't understand.
[And he's not going to fucking explain it either. Not that his previous accommodations gave him much space to put them elsewhere. Certainly wasn't gonna put them in the bathroom.]
...You've been sounding too much like that stupid dog.
( That's more muttered to himself, as he runs a hand along the arm of one statue. But nothing seems different, nothing is amiss, and it's not as if he expected anything else. Physically, anyway. He had to check for what he could sense, spiritually— but from what he can tell, it's all fine.
So with a sigh, and one more glance around the bedroom, he exits, crossing his arms again and staring over at Bakugo. )
Maybe you're right. You're the one I don't know anything about. Can't bother explaining to someone like me? Couldn't possibly imagine that I might understand it?
[Luckily Bakugo doesn't hear that comment. There's nothing wrong with either statue save for a small chip on the lowest two feathers of one of Hawks' wings. Damage the man can easily repair if he ever returns. Regrowing feathers is easy for him.
Bakugo refused to allow them to use Endeavor's statue, period, and didn't allow them to use anything from Hawks save for the smallest amount that wouldn't cause the man harm. If the hotel didn't just "refresh" everything the second the man returned. Bakugo hopes he never does. Doesn't want anyone stuck in this shitty place.
He remains lounged on the couch, blocked from majority view, yet Esikko's stare pierces right through. Fucking annoying. Did he finish writing his damn report yet?]
Have you ever had someone you looked up to? Someone you wanted to protect.
[Why is he not surprised at that response? Everything in Esikko's life is negative, or if it's not now, will eventually be. Bakugo closes his eyes as he takes in the information, not minding when the guy walks around the couch to do whatever he's doing.
Still, if Esikko's being truthful about having someone he wants to protect, even in this place...]
Then you know why I did it.
[Those people are from his world. Even if he has issues with the League, if they became statues, he'd be trying to find their statues as well and bring them to his room. Well, not now, since apparently ISSUES. He'd at least find the petrified one and then tell the other two. Or one. Whoever remains.
If Esikko wants to call that selfish, then fine. He's selfish.]
( At first, he wants to bitch more. Wants to call out what sort of people Bakugo wants to protect, the character of the man, his own beliefs about what you can move on from or how— but he bites his tongue, because he knows that would be hypocritical.
If anything, doesn't it just show it's similar? He stops next to the couch, looking down on Bakugo with his crossed arms and a huffy sort of almost-pout, like he's trying to decide how to feel. How to respond. )
Well. Then you know why I'm upset, too.
( It's the same, isn't it? It's selfish, but he's selfish, too. He knows that. It's the same. His arms drop, after a moment, and with a release of a sigh he'd been holding in for too long, he bumps his foot against the edge of the couch, a fake kick. )
And you wouldn't even let me get one hit off about it. Asshole.
[Maybe Esikko already has. It's fucking strange, seeing the villain has someone who cares about him and wants to protect him like this, but then again, the other Todoroki, including Dabi's little brother, also felt similar. Obviously not the sort of pink tinge he thinks Esikko has.
But still... fucking hell. Bakugo's stomach twists in irritation, assuming Esikko's willing to look past Dabi's actions enough to feel this way about him, yet still has the gall to eternally condemn a man he doesn't know at all, save for a one-sided biased report.
There's no point arguing with someone who's mind's already made up. He's not going to waste his time with something as pathetic as smearing Dabi's name out of pettiness.]
You didn't ask permission to hit me.
[And he's not even a statue! Rude. Now this kind of pettiness? Yeah, he'll dip into like a brat.]
( Unfortunately, the brief time he'd met Endeavor before even connecting who he was, Esikko had already seen enough of his own father in him to form an opinion. Dabi's mental breakdown on the beach had only sealed that.
Esi's face goes a little red from the mix of embarrassment at that first statement to anger at the second, and he promptly whirls around to...
Attempt to sit down right on Bakugo's chest. He's not asking for permission for this either!!! )
Shut up already. What makes you think I haven't told him? It's not like it matters, anyway. I've told you it always ends the same.
[There's nothing he can do to change that, nor spend his energy on attempting it. Each of the villains had a chance to change, to avoid making their own poor mistakes in life, to be better. They didn't. Doesn't make what fucking excuse they gave, a crime's a crime. Murder is murder. Even Endeavor planned to pay for his own...
Bakugo has a hard time feeling sorry for a man who kidnapped him, threatened him with death, tried to murder his classmates, and more!
What the fuck?! The blonde scrambles backwards, trying to get that bony ass from digging into his chest. A hand grabs at the couch back to pull himself, other one snapping and popping small explosions in the air beside him. Dammit, Esikko, he thinks he's got the right to try being fucking "funny" after all that bullshit?!]
Don't screw with me! You're the one making a big deal out of permission! [Petty or serious or not.] If you didn't think it mattered, you wouldn't bother trying!
( ...True. The explosions and the call out make him wince a little, the noise startling and the feeling uncomfortable, but this time he doesn't back away. He leans back with all of his meager weight, his own hands grabbing at the cushions of the couch to try and stay relatively in place.
It's like the silliest wrestling known to man? This is what happens when you never learn to hug, maybe. )
...You said you'll talk with him later. In person? Just you two? How do I know you won't kill each other?
( And, it's not like he should care about Bakugo, he thinks, he swears, but the more it comes to his mind, the more he does, and it's annoying too. Ugh. )
No one ever asks me for permission, so of course I want it. I'm just making it even.
[What the hell is this guy's problem?! Wasn't he going to come over here, look at the statue, and walk the fuck out?! When did it turn into this crap?! It's not Esikko's weight that's annoying; it's the angle of his buttbone digging into Bakugo's ribs that make it uncomfortable! Don't you have any ass cheek, Prince Prick?!
Don't you dare. If you try to hug him right now, they'll need tweezers to pick up the pieces...]
I'm not gonna waste my time trying to kill him! Dead people come right back.
[Why the hell does Esikko even care? Besides, it's not DABI pissing him off!]
You gonna fight his battles for him now?
[HE STILL DIDN'T ASK PERMISSION TO FUCKING SLAP HIM OR SIT ON HIM!! GODDAMN HYPOCRITE!!]
( Urgh— he's evening the playing field!! All the years and multiple lives he has to make up for, you see? No, there's no real logic there, he's a hypocrite.
A hypocrite who shoves his palm into Bakugo's face as he half turns to look at him. He has a great ass, thank you, it's the only part of him that's not flat— but he still manages to be bony. )
You know, my bodyguard has been dead longer than the others. Don't treat it as so consistent or reliable.
If I'm there too, maybe you two won't brawl, you know? ( and he's nosy. but he cares, too. )
It's just something to consider. ( he's staring so hard, but there's so much he's not saying that he has his lips pressed together in an almost thin straight line. )
[That's a villainous way to think. Someone fucked me up so I'm gonna fuck them and others up to make it even! Bakugo's down for some good old revenge (though his is more reclaiming the top spot in a game angrily because someone dared to beat his score) but not when it veers into that shitty territory!
Also because he often takes his "revenge" then and there by kicking the offender's ass. He has better things to do than plot some long-term crap.
It's real tempting to bite Esikko's fingers when he plasters them right in his face. Get those things away from his eyes, dammit! He jerks his head to the side, snarling up at the other man. Didn't you walk into this room hating him?!]
He's not dead, dammit! He went back home! [Why the fuck do people not understand this?! The hotel's not keeping everyone around in a goddamn meat freezer!
Considered it. Yeeted it. No comment. He's more interested in talking about the fucking statues.]
( If Esikko hated him, it would be clear as day. There's none of that here. Instead, when he's pushed him enough to see that it's clear there's not going to be any sort of retaliation (though he'd give him a pass for finger biting, or anything else, honestly), he withdraws his hand and sighs, standing back up. Freedom. )
What are you talking about? Who's not dead? Because if you mean my bodyguard, he is. His body is in the clinic. They won't allow you to see him, and they insist he's still alive— but I can promise you he's not.
( Or is he talking about... the statues again? After they were talking about Dabi being able to come back to life, and then that stupid dog bodyguard... The statues aren't what he'd call dead, no. But he certainly wouldn't be able to safely say they'd gone home, either, just from a base look at it, with his senses as they are. )
[If Bakugo might have retaliated. Tempting as fuck to do so. Esikko gets back up and he pushes himself into a sitting position on the couch, arms crossed over his chest. So this guy's bodyguard isn't a statue, but he's in the clinic? Another guest? That doesn't make any sense from what he's heard when people die or go home.]
What the hell? Those statues are past guests that aren't here anymore. Parrot and Anemone Hair were doing an experiment to see if they could revive one. [Bakugo never thought it would work, but given the specifications Senku proposed, he ended up at least being an assistant in the deed. As far as Hawks' two feathers were concerned.]
People don't stay here like some shitty captive. Otherwise, timelines and other worlds would get fucked up.

Date: 12/17/24 23:47 (UTC)Esi's face goes a little red from the mix of embarrassment at that first statement to anger at the second, and he promptly whirls around to...
Attempt to sit down right on Bakugo's chest. He's not asking for permission for this either!!! )
Shut up already. What makes you think I haven't told him? It's not like it matters, anyway. I've told you it always ends the same.

Date: 12/18/24 00:06 (UTC)Bakugo has a hard time feeling sorry for a man who kidnapped him, threatened him with death, tried to murder his classmates, and more!

Date: 12/18/24 00:13 (UTC)It's like the silliest wrestling known to man? This is what happens when you never learn to hug, maybe. )
...You said you'll talk with him later. In person? Just you two? How do I know you won't kill each other?
( And, it's not like he should care about Bakugo, he thinks, he swears, but the more it comes to his mind, the more he does, and it's annoying too. Ugh. )
No one ever asks me for permission, so of course I want it. I'm just making it even.

Date: 12/18/24 00:27 (UTC)Don't you dare.

Date: 12/18/24 00:35 (UTC)A hypocrite who shoves his palm into Bakugo's face as he half turns to look at him.
( he's staring so hard, but there's so much he's not saying that he has his lips pressed together in an almost thin straight line. )

Date: 12/18/24 01:00 (UTC)Also because he often takes his "revenge" then and there by kicking the offender's ass.

Date: 12/18/24 01:15 (UTC)What are you talking about? Who's not dead? Because if you mean my bodyguard, he is. His body is in the clinic. They won't allow you to see him, and they insist he's still alive— but I can promise you he's not.
( Or is he talking about... the statues again? After they were talking about Dabi being able to come back to life, and then that stupid dog bodyguard... The statues aren't what he'd call dead, no. But he certainly wouldn't be able to safely say they'd gone home, either, just from a base look at it, with his senses as they are. )

Date: 12/18/24 02:11 (UTC)What the hell? Those statues are past guests that aren't here anymore. Parrot and Anemone Hair were doing an experiment to see if they could revive one. [Bakugo never thought it would work, but given the specifications Senku proposed, he ended up at least being an assistant in the deed. As far as Hawks' two feathers were concerned.]
People don't stay here like some shitty captive. Otherwise, timelines and other worlds would get fucked up.
