[ Then there was his date with Bakugo, and with Raidou, and Megumi confessing to him... ]

In middle school girls didn't really like me and there wasn't a point in dating people when I was going to die.

Aa. No one ever gave me valentines or asked me out. I never wanted to deal with that shit.

[And really, considering how Katsuki acts, who'd want to get near that?]

Now we're both dating.

Before now, obviously. I mean, I did, but - you know what I mean.

[Katsuki can't help a small laugh and leans back on Yuji's bed, hands behind his head.]

I would've asked you out. But Raidou did it first.

[It feels okay to finally admit this. Especially since Yuji just said something similar. There's no regret or longing, just the usual fondness he has for his friend.]

[ Yuji stares at him with wide eyes, and suddenly his chest feels warm. Embarrassment, or - what? He's not really sure, but he's definitely blushing. Three people...? ]

You're the one who just said you'd give me valentines.

[Katsuki closes his eyes, mostly because there's a faint red on his face now. Okay so maybe he's not completely immune, but yeah...]

Oh.

[ Covering his face with his hand, Yuji laughs softly. ]

I had no idea you felt anything like that.

Me either.

[He curls his fingers slightly against the back of his head.]

You're still my best friend.

[It's a quiet, gentle admission, but admission all the same.]

Yeah... So are you.

[ Leaning in, he shuffles closer, putting his head on Bakugo's shoulder. ]

Does Denji-kun make you happy?

Hn.

[The little bump nudges at his head and he tilts his own to rest it against Yuji's]

Yeah. I never met anyone like him.

[ Cosy, the threat of teasing him and giving him the middle finger gone, Yuji hums softly. ]

Then that's all that matters, really, isn't it?

No, there's more than that. I don't want someone who just makes me happy. He frustrates me and challenges me too. We don't see eye to eye on everything, and our habits are different. Sometime I get mad at him.

[He rests his other arm under Yuji's head so he can reach around and drop a hand on his shoulder.]

But when I come back here and he's there... that's what matters to me most.

I think happiness is what matters to me. I...

[ He's been sad for so long, so painfully long, that seeing Raidou and feeling happy... That urge to protect him, to take care of him, to spend time with him...

Yuji closes his eyes. ]

I'm just glad.

Yeah. I know how important it is to be happy.

[After what Yuji went through, the people he lost, the wounds he's endured physically and mentally... Having someone that makes him feel happy would be so very important.

Katsuki turns his head and rests his lips against Yuji's temple.]

He better make you happy most of the time, or I'll kick his ass.

He does make me happy! You don't have to fight him.

[ Yuji laughs a little, tilting his head into Katsuki and letting himself relax, eyes closed and content. How funny they always end up this, their fondness for each other winning out every time. ]

I'll beat up Denji-kun for you too.

Then we won't have a problem.

[He knows Raidou makes Yuji very happy, and does his best to give the guy what he wants and needs. Just like him and Denji, the other two are also figuring out how relationships work.

As Yuji relaxes with him, Katsuki closes his eyes as well, enjoying the soft moment. He never thought telling Yuji would affect much between them. It's been so long and they're good where they are. Fondness, friendship, affection, trust.

Nothing needs to change.]

I doubt you'll ever need to.

Yeah. We’re both good in that case.

[ The last few weeks have been a lot; painful and sad and exciting all at once, leaving Yuji agonised and heartbroken. He’s so tired, so worn down, so sad, but here and now… He’s okay. They’re okay together.

His smile stays in place. ]

I’m still gonna get you chocolate.

Aa. Our boyfriends are pretty damn lucky.

[It's a joke. They're the lucky ones. Katsuki's dealt with plenty of his own shit the past month and wants it all to stop for a little while. Both personal and event crap.

Right here, right now, feels like a blessing he could indulge in for a long time.]

[ Yuji swallows the lump in his throat. ]

[There goes the lump. He nudges in closer.]

[ He’s still smiling though. ]

Even if you did, it wouldn’t be your fault. It’s okay.

[There's way more than that for liking Yuji around.]

None of us control that for now. [For now.] But when we go home, I know I'll be taking a little bit of you with me.

[And rest his hand over Yuji's heart.]

[ Lifting his own hand, he places it over Katsuki’s gently. ]

[No amount of friendship gets in the way of a good fight. He curls his fingers a little, heart picking up just a little bit under that touch. Damn thing...]
