[Taryon's thankfully not involves in that kerfuffle, but having a direct conversation with Ereshkigal specifically about her disagreement with Bakugo isn't that much better.
At least the volume is taken; his efforts were not entirely in vain. All that is left is to see if this softens the teenager's heart and opens up a path to friendship and kindness.
And if that doesn't pan out, Bakugo gets a good book out of it.] I will certainly do so! I promise. [Taryon holds up a fist to display his commitment.] Just be careful with the binding. It's a bit old.
[Sure, Taryon has picked up the skills to repair books, but he'd rather not have them soiled through recklessness. Each tome is precious to him, especially the rare and old volumes. It's how he treats the various figurines of Earth TV series characters over the past several months.]
[He's not going to defend or coddle the goddess for her poor decision, but at least he's made peace with her about it and the entire thing's tossed behind him without any care. Sure, he might rip on her later once or twice, cause he can be a petty guy at times, but nothing mean.
Still kinda strange this guy would use that to randomly show up and offer him books. If he's not here on Ereshkigal's behest or anything...]
Did you find it somewhere or was it brought here? [This time, Bakugo gives the book another look over. He's aware the physical volumes can range anywhere from rare-but-recent to pretty damn ancient. Spending time in Nanami's bookstore a long time ago was nice because of its quaint nature and physical tomes.]
Tch, come in. It's fucking awkward standing out here like this. [With that, he backs into his room, since Taryon's apparently not simply doing a swing-by drop off.]
It's mine. I had it since I was your age. Which feels like a long time but really, it isn't that long ago. [He adds quickly, because Taryon isn't old and late twenties shouldn't feel that old anyway.] It's a seminal work of art. One of the most complex worldbuilding I've seen in a fantasy adventure novel. Honestly, if you really this, every other book feels like it's a variation of its plot and themes, but I'm getting ahead of myself. You've got to read the other two books in the series to really get it. Oh. And some of the supplemental materials, but I'm going to have to ask LILITH about retrieving those.
[He breathes his sharply through his nose. There's so much about this trilogy that he wants to share, but he risk of spoiling it for a new reader stops him from speaking further.]
Oh. Right. Thank you for inviting me to your home. [He was raised to have some manners, so Taryon leaves his shoes at the entryway, lines up neatly, and follows Bakugo inside. He's got to have some sort of hobby that's on prominent display. It will make for an excellent continuation of their conversation.]
Did it arrive with you? [Some people have their personal affects appear with them when they came, from the clothes they were wearing the moment they were taken to the tools in their hands or on their bodies at the same. Bakugo arrived with his hero costume. Not in the damn pod, but waiting for him once he got out.]
You talk way too much! [Dammit, he wasn't asking for the books autobiography!] You're gonna run your mouth and ruin something!
[And he'll be even more pissed off if Taryon accidentally gives him a spoiler when he's at least interested enough to give the tome a try. Hopefully this guy's not about to take his reading of it as implied membership of his book fan club...
Unfortunately the room is no longer Bakugo's usual room from Neo Tokyo. Rather the one from Kyoto with two futons, one for him and one for his boyfriend. There's another set of two, but so far no one else has needed to move in with them. Too bad, because this means nothing's on display. Only a few items sit around the room, Bakugo's hero costume packed neatly in the corner by his bed, a rice cooker + teapot + portable burner on the desk, and some of his and Denji's clothes in a small chest.]
Have you heard if the move to Kyoto's permanent or temporary?
