[ How dare you, those two and a half inches matter. At least he's not counting his hair. Then it'd be more.

Still, it's nice walking in mostly silence. Shinsou is happy to chatter about things they see as they pass, seeing a few new things of hero merch in store fronts and lamenting the fact there will never be much if any Eraser Head merch. They guy hated that along with the press stuff, still...a guy could wish right? ]

So movie first? Dinner? Cafe should probably be last...

[Hey, Bakugou's hair would add to his height as well, so nyeh. It's still just some measly few centimeters. Hmph.

When Shinsou breaks the silence to talk, Bakugou offers comment back, usually calmer than normal, but will fire something snappy occasionally. Grump that he is. He accidentally shows off his nerd side again when commenting on the hero merch Shinsou points out, though has to snicker about their teacher's lack of representative merch. The guy didn't want to be known; that's the price of his anonymity. That said, with everything going on around them, and Aizawa getting shoved in the press more often now, that could change...

Bakugou also points out that Shinsou is carrying on Eraser Head's legacy as well. People will soon know Eraser Head as Shinsou's mentor. Just like Endeavor mentored Shoto, Hawks mentored Tsukiyomi, All Might mentored Deku, and Best Jeanist mentored Dynamight.

He'll be joining that list too. It's a heavy responsibility to bear, but he knows Shinsou can do it.]

Dinner, then movie, or we won't be hungry for anything at the cafe.

[ Man, Bakugou, don't remind him! Part of him is a little stressed out about the whole 'legacy' thing, but also...hearing the blonde talk about it with such confidence. Hearing him so offhandedly say that he thinks Shinsou can handle everything, it means a lot. More than most might think. Sure Shinsou acts like he doesn't let things get to him, but really how can he not? It'd gotten easier lately, what with more people seeing his potential, but there would always be those whispers in the back of his mind.

Luckily enough with Bakugou there, they're easier to ignore. ]

Sounds like a plan.

[ He lets Bakugou take the lead when it comes to dinner, they had agreed to split up the cost after all and if the blonde was gonna pay for dinner he was going to get to pick where they went. Besides, it wasn't like Shinsou was all that picky really. ]

[That's the reality of tutoring under one of the famous heroes. Eraser Head's stepped out into the light thanks to his class being the focal point of so many issues this year. Plus directly confronting the League of Villains multiple times. Shinsou's tutelage under him is obvious thanks to their shared weapons. Legacy is legacy now. Bakugou knows his boyfriend will handle it. He wouldn't have become a hero if the weight of a legacy could crush him. He understands the front of unruffled confidence and the insecurities it hides all too well. Battling doubts is part of being a hero.

It's heartening to know that Shinsou's going to be there with him. Heh, who the fuck would've guessed.]

Sushi, hot pot, or barbecue?

[Picky or not, Bakugou at least wanted to have some options when it came to dinner. He could be a demanding "my way or else" a lot of times, but during a date, you give your partner options. His mom didn't raise a Viking.]

[ Looking at Bakugou as he thought of his choices Shinsou seemed to actually think it over. He had heard from Izuku that the blonde liked spicy food and while some sushi could have some kick it was rarely particularly spicy, barbecue might be better than the former. Hotpot however, that they could both get a brother and from what he'd heard the ones in town were pretty good.

Not to mention hotpot was just tasty in general. ]

How about hotpot? something warm and not super heavy but still more filling than sushi.

[On the one hand, Shinsou thinking about his choices meant he didn't have an immediate preference. On the other hand, that meant Shinsou didn't have an immediate preference. Two things to learn about his boyfriend in one go. Good to know the ones that weren't picked were fair game for later dates then.

Bakugou nods at the choice, though makes a face when Shinsou decides to elaborate on the benefits. What a sales pitch.]

[And turns to lead down the adjacent road. Gonna have to grab a different bus for that choice, but it should be here in about five minutes.]

There's a place downtown my parents used to take me to.

[ Look, it's just idle chatter honestly. Not really a sales pitch, just stating his own thoughts on it.

Still he does follow Bakugou's lead, at least they had pretty good public transit. Just like before he's not huge on small talk and instead opts to stay quiet other than the occasional moment of elbowing the blonde lightly to get his attention, pointing something out, and then rolling his eyes. People watching was a pastime that Shinsou was used to, espcially on the train or bus. Kept him used to being observant.

It's not until they finally make it to the restaurant that he seems more talkative. ]

So, what sort of stuff do you usually eat?

[He grew up with a nerd as a best friend for a few years. It's still nerdy.

Bakugou settles beside the post waiting for the bus, hands in his pockets and back to the metal pole. He appreciates Shinsou's quieter personality and the occasional comment usually gets answered rather than ignored or snapped at like other people's get. Well, he goes gripe once or twice about the elbow in his ribs. Bakugou notices the way Shinsou looks at other people though, figuring he's listening to their voices as a continual study for his Quirk. It's pretty impressive. Bakugou opts to quiz him on certain accents and dialects when they reach a lull.

It's left behind on the bus at least, though he finds it interesting regardless. The restaurant is a nice, two-story building and each table has its own pot over a burner with chairs or booths as requested.]

Balanced. Meat, vegetables, rice and noodles. Kimchi. I don't like a lot of really sweet things.

[While he's not unbearably anal about his diet, Bakugou keeps both health and moderate at the forefront, alongside his personal tastes.]

[ The quizzing him throws Shinsou off but at the same time it's fun. Even without his persona chords he can mimic some accents, different dialects, things that the device wouldn't be able to mimic anyways and he had to learn on his own. Even manages to mimic Bakugou's crude yet educated way of speaking. He knows while the guy sounds like a ruffian there's more there. He's smart and he shows it even when he's being crude.

When they're talking and Bakugou answers Shinsou can't help the little chuckle that leaves him again. ]

I don't know why I'm not surprised. I mean, out of everyone you would be the one to be more particular.

[ While he shrugs and to some it might seem like he was judging Bakugou he wasn't. It's something that he expected and he's glad he was right. ]

Kimchi's good though, I like to put it in my noodles...also kimchi and eggs is good.

[That's exactly the reason Bakugou wanted to quiz him. To see how skilled his boyfriend is without his Support Gear. Despite the power of Explosion, Bakugou would never be caught dead unable to handle himself without his Quirk or his gear. A solid chunk of his training and practice involves going without either. It's nice to experience Shinsou's growing abilities in the same vein.

When Shinsou manages to imitate him, Bakugou bristles in annoyance... but Shinsou might catch the tail end of a proud smirk on the corner of the blonde's mouth when he thinks his face is averted enough to hide it. Dumbass.]

Not my fault I pay more attention to my health than those junkies. [Bakugou recognizes the lack of bite or judgement, so Shinsou's response is calm without fire. He opens the door and holds it for his boyfriend before following him in. The scent of meats and fresh vegetables comes with a slightly steamy feeling on their skin. Hot pot restaurant and all. Lots of boiling and simmering broth.] It's best on tamagoyaki or hard boiled eggs. What kind of noodles?

Hmmm, sounds good.

[ Shinsou takes in the sounds and smells of the restraunt and can't help but sigh a bit. It smelled good, like spices and meats and everything good about hotpot. ]

Usually just ramen noodles or something. The instant stuff, quick and easy y'know?

[ Sure he didn't have the best diet but it wasn't terrible.

And sometimes instant noodles with kimchi just really hit the spot. ]

It's not that hard to make noodles.

[Bakugou's giving Shinsou the side-eye stick-eye. Come on. Noodles are the easiest thing to make next to toast. You boil water and drop them in. Just takes more time than instant ramen... but you can make a lot and dole it out later. Then again, someone needs his sleep.

But he can't exactly deny the appeal of instant noodles and kimchi for a quick meal.]

You wanna go heavier on meat, vegetables, noodles, or balance it?

[It doesn't take long for them to get seats at a booth, the large dark steel pot resting in the center of the table atop an unlit burner. That'll change in a minute. Their waitress passes out menus and asks about drinks.]

Yeah well sometimes doing instant is just easier, not all the time but sometimes.

[ Shinsou just shrugs. He knows instant isn't all that great but it works and when sometimes you don't want to leave your dorm...something that you just have to poor hotwater into is useful.

Not that he's ever had to do that. He totally doesn't have an electric kettle in his room.

Not at all.

Sitting in the booth and getting himself a water and hot tea, Shinsou just sort of glances at the menu a bit before answering. ]

Balanced might be better, you've been here before right? What do you recommend for broth?

No shit.

[Time's certainly a thing in the life of a hero and student, even moreso when you're both. Bakugou's an excellent cook, but even he's had time crunches and had to grab some bar from the pantry or nuke something in the microwave. It's rare, but happens.

Definitely can relate to the comfort of not leaving your dorm room. He's got a minifridge and single burner in his room for that very reason. Antisocial grenade.

Bakugou orders a tea for himself as well, opting for ice instead of heat. The contrast between it and the soon-to-be hotpot is the intent. The menu has a lot of combination options, ranging from meat platters to vegetable spreads to mixtures of the two with sides of noodles and rice.]

The "ancient" spicy pork. It's a master stock that's been used for over 20 years.

[ Shinsou can't help but laugh at Bakugou's answer. ]

You are such a foodie.

[ There's no heat, just teasing and a genuine sort of affection. Putting down the menu Shinsou just nods. ]

Sounds good, I'll trust your judgement. So long as there's some actual flavor and not just mouth numbing heat, I'm in.

[He's not a foodie! He just has knowledge about shit and pays attention to health and preference and judges the food he eats. Sheesh! (That's called a foodie, idiot.)

The only problem with the table having a burner underneath it for the pot is he can't kick Shinsou in the shin...]

[It's the spice kind of spicy, not heat kind of spicy. Bakugou nods towards the sauces on the far side of the table against the wall.]

There's the hot stuff.

[He ends up ordering a spread platter, with plenty of meat and vegetables alongside a bed of glass noodles, and the stock he talked about.]

You want an appetizer? Spring roll? Egg roll? Green plate? [Think edamame and spinach leaves drizzled in sauce over rice.]

Uh huh, suuure.

[ You are totally a foodie, Katsuki, and Shinsou think's it's endearing. Get used to it. ]

Got it, as for the appetizer. Spring rolls sound good.

[ Something light and fresh to go with the hearty brother they'd be having. ]

You know, there's nothing wrong with having food as a passion, right? It's cool you know that sort of stuff, better than somethings and hey it's useful.

Spring rolls.

[To the waitress as she finishes jotting down the rest of the order. With that, she clicks on the burner to start the pot heating up and adds some water for it to get its steam going. Then heads off to gather their drinks and get the order in.]

A passion for something usually turns it into a career. I'm gonna be a hero, not a chef.

[ Shinsou shrugged, crossing his arms to lean on them as he looked around a bit before looking back at Bakugou. ]

I can get pretty into stuff with coffee but you don't see me looking into being a barista.

[ He may not have a full coffee bar in his dorm room but it's probably not for the lack of trying, let's be honest here. ]

Aa. Right.

[Bakugou's the annoying savant that's good at everything, so he had his pick of whatever career he wanted. But only heroism has held his interest. More like he's determined to be one. He leans back in the booth, sipping at his tea after it arrives.

The place is pretty nice and their booth feels private and comfortably walled off from anyone behind them. Steam drifts up from other tables in sight, the sound of chatter and slop of food in the broth filling the air.]

Shit, are you like Ponytail, but with coffee instead of tea?

[Curious, but with that usual scowl. Though if he's honest, having the aroma of coffee around their place would be more preferable to tea...

Heh, no. I've heard how Yaoyorozu can be.

[ It gets a laugh from Shinsou as he shakes his head. If he knew what was going through Katsuiki's head he might tease him, even just a little, but sadly he doesn't. ]

I just know what I like and how to make things. I don't buy the super expensive stuff or anything specially unless I really wanna try it.

[Thank fuck Shinsou can't read minds. Bakugou leans back in his seat and gets a feeling with his legs for where the burner tank is. Of course it's safely enclosed and stuff, but still, doesn't wanna keep kicking it accidentally.]

Coffee can be as expensive as alcohol too. [Not that surprising, all things considered.] Do you just use it to drink or do you put it in other things?

Not really? I mean I don't really cook, and the most I mix it with is normal coffee sort of things. Milk, sugar, maybe some chocolate milk or something if I have it.

[Despite her powerful Quirk and rich-girl status, Yaoyorozu has a lot of confidence issues. She's certainly working on them, but... it's her Achilles heel. The things that make her happy help, like tea and studying with her friends and other shit.

Huh?! He has no tells!! He expresses exactly what he wants! Hmph.]

You put chocolate milk in your coffee?

[Cream, sugar, milk, sure, but despite all those fancy coffee drinks, plenty of which have chocolate in them, the idea of chocolate milk ironically catches Bakugou off guard.]

Of all the things people put in coffee that sounds weird? People put milk and chocolate syrup in it...I just skip a step.

[ Shinsou just sort of laughs, shrugging. He's not offended, in fact it's kinda funny to him. ]

You want something weird, I've seen things about people putting orange juice in coffee. Now that's weird.
