How the hell did he get into his belongings? Unless he swiped by one of the camels or something. Maybe Denji let Shoto into the room. Who knows. He'd be more pissed if it were someone else. His classmate gets a pass. As much as he'd not into celebrating his birthday... getting a note from Shoto brings a warmth to his chest. A gentle brush from home.
As for the gift, he's definitely going to try them on. While his Grenadier Bracers have collapsible functions, like the ones he used when interning under Endeavor, Shoto's right that he doesn't always have time (or reason) to grab them for activity. And they're huge, compared to the other hero's wristbands.
So don't be surprised if Shoto sees Katsuki wearing his new wristbands while doing his work in Egypt.
Being called his best friend likewise sends a quiet surge through his body again. Best friend. World mate. The only one here who knows him from that angle. It's not something he intends to take for granted.
Shoto's gonna get a note on his own things-- slipped in because Katsuki's a punk like that --to find later.
Thanks. I'll let you know how they perform.
And call me Katsuki.
Which is about the highest form of friendship the blonde will ever give.
( Left wherever Bakugo can find them best is a box of Basbousa - a sweet, syrup-soaked semolina dessert cut into tiny squares and topped with walnuts - and a handwritten note. )
Bakuboom!
Consider this an i.o.u for when we get back to Japan! I have something for you there! The lady who sold these to me said they were good though! Happy birthday!!! When we get back, pick a dinner and I'll make you it too.
[Not quite what he had in mind, but as Taryon talks, Bakugo changes his intention. Rather than letting the man enchant some of his own makeshift grenades, now he's curious to see what sort of "grenades" this tech mage can come up with on his own.]
Aa. Come up with five different variations and see if you can impress me.
[Of course he's gonna turn this into a challenge! Make Taryon work his brain more and give Bakugo an interesting surprise when he finishes.]
[Mmm... A little too sweet for him. He munches on the treat, noting the flavor and richness. In smaller bites, it's good though. Guess this is going to last a good while. Watch him share some with Vash on a camel ride at some point during their trip here. Look, he figures the guy was drooling when he bought them.
But he is gonna look forward to that dinner once they get back to base! Time to flex your culinary muscles, Vash. Show him what you've learned.]
Five?! [He blurts his surprise before he can catch himself.] I mean - sure, I can do such thing. Once we have a laboratory open to us Outsiders, I'll get right do it!
[He gives Bakugo a thumbs up.]
You'll get your weapons.
[Five, though...he can do a basic exploding one, but what other variations can he do when he doens't have access to common magical ingredients. A mystery that he will have to solve himself.]
[Oh? His brow arches towards his bangs at Tayron's exclamation. Could be a few reasons for that. He's piqued, and looking kinda smug about catching the mage off guard.]
Too much for you, smart guy?
[And there he goes, putting his composure back together. A laboratory they can use means it'll have to wait until they return to their normal base. But he doesn't have a due date.]
I'm looking forward to this.
[Hey, if it explodes, that's the most important part.]
