That if is a huge if and without the emphasis in the text? He still sees it as the largest of those words. It's Bakugo's between the lines and Shoto wishes he couldn't see it as clearly as day. ...What he wasn't expecting was the bit about not being stupid and also a hero.]

I couldn't sleep. I've had a hard time finding a comfortable way of sleeping lately. Aside the thoughts plaguing me, it's still painful even with what they gave me.

Sucks doesn't it. There's stronger medication out there, but it's probably not something you can get over the counter. Synchrony is supposed to help heal injuries faster as well.

[Shoto almost lost him. He's working on getting him, but shaken trust isn't easy to do. Kicked puppy isn't easy to unkick when Kirishima is said puppy.

It does "suck". The first time it was easier, this time? Not really. How much faster? I'd like to be able to at least be on the station in case someone we know ends up there. I don't know if they'll let me off the station but I can at least be there if it's that fast.

[It's no Granny kiss, but Shoto shouldn't be down and out for more than a week. They had Bakugo patched up and walking around after his arrival post getting skewed by Shigaraki in a day. Back home, it took... longer to get that shit handled.]

[One day is this day. He caught fight his way to getting Dabi to live a life that isn't the one he's lived for ten years. There will be other opportunities to do other things. Shoto is starting to realize that he did something all over the board selfish and failed at worse, in all the ways possible.]

[He had a good reason for doing what he did, but just because you have a good reason for getting to Point B doesn't mean you can drive your ship over a reef and sandbar and hope to make it to the destination without massive injury, if not completely failing to make the journey.

Much as Bakugo certainly ascribes to the notion, beating the "Live Your Own Life But Better!" lesson into Dabi's head will never work. The man has to want to do it himself. Otherwise, they're wasting their time and effort on nothing. It's the sad, ugly truth.]

[Shoto added the boat hitting a pier and going down in a fiery blaze to that list of things one shouldn't do. A lot that he shouldn't have done because it's true, if he doesn't want to change nothing that Shoto can do will change him. Maybe the best is to switch tactic.]

I'll make sure to check in on him. Losing him to home was enough, losing him while he's sitting right here is something I don't want to happen.

[You can't save someone who doesn't want to be saved. And in the end, that only means two people will die in the end, one of whom didn't need to, and whose efforts certainly wouldn't be appreciated by the death-determined side of the equation. Bakugo's more apt to let Dabi make his own choices here, and then fully hold him responsible for them since he had a completely blank slate and knows it.

No more blaming Endeavor or Shoto in Noctium. It's all on Crispy.]

[He can't and Shoto will have to learn that the hard way here. He can't save Dabi or anyone else who pushes his hand away. It's true in where Dabi is responsible for every move here on out. Especially when they could most certainly be taking their jobs as heroes properly and keeping tabs on crime. All of them. His father alone could probably cleave a swath through crime.

However, the more pressing problem is Izuku right now. Shoto knows, realizes and feels it on a level that he hates hearing.]

He will come around. If he doesn't, then we go get him and straighten him out again. You should come over if he's not home, I'm sure Kirishima would enjoy the company as much as I would when he's back. Or if you want us to come over to wait for him with you then that's doable too.

[Except that there's so fucking Little Crime here that Bakugo and some of the other hero types have bitched about things being "boring" for them. The Diamond Guards cover so much and vigilantism, not outright hero work, is only permitted in certain areas. Still, with the mess that's happened this month, perhaps that will suggest to the higher ups that things aren't as peaceful as they think.

Izuku's a pressing problem, but Bakugo really doubts there's much they can do about it asides from letting the guy run his course. The event going on, fucking winter weather, is of no help either.]

If he's not better by February, yeah. We'll kick his fucking ass again. I'll come over. If he saw a gathering at our house, he'd leave. Doesn't want to be around people much right now.

[Just as Shoto expects from Bakugo. There's not a moment in the day that doesn't have some sort of victory he can assume Bakugo has had. Big or little. However, the way he's speaking doesn't sound so victorious, neither should it.]

We'll let him have some time to himself and if he doesn't come back when this is all a little more in the clear, we drag him back. I promise you. Maybe you and Kirishima could go out looking just to be sure. If he replies to me I can at least ask if he's eating properly to remind him to eat.
