[Why the fuck should he learn to be a good loser? When he can get so fucking good he's always the winner? Striking out on his own, arms over arms and legs kicking, he makes for the coral area. Swimming had been one of his exercises as a kid, so this isn't a bad skill for him either.

Problem is, neither of them decided on an endpoint and it's ambiguous anyways since they can't touch the coral. So Katsuki ultimately breaks the surface and shakes his head shouting] HA! My fucking win!

[Because the finish line is... HERE! Where he is! HAHA!]

[ Izuku just laughs about it with him...? Whatever, Katsuki. Sometimes he'll argue the point but right now he feels...okay. Despite the way they were getting too serious on the beach earlier.

It's hard to stay serious when Katsuki's acting little-kid victorious over a race. ]

Hm. Well, he can use Float in water just fine, so he'll put his bad arm hand on Katsuki's shoulder almost absently as he does that.

Synchrony is all they need, right? They've done this probably too often. Someday Katsuki's going to have to admit to himself that they're probably in tune enough to get the echoed feelings, even if at least there's the bonus of stronger powers...? ]

[ Izuku's breath catches because of course he loves this sort of thing - the colors playing underwater in the pattern of coral, lighting up the clear water with a warm glow, and maybe a magical one.

He's a sucker for anything cool... ]

[This is crossing the boundaries between something he'd "bleh" at for being too soft or stupid (colors) and something that's undeniably "cool" because it's fucking glowing coral. you don't see this shit every day. or ever.

Katsuki's content then to wait here in the water, letting Izuku hold onto him as they watch the light show.

Hm... if he touches Izuku's elbow with one finger, does that change anything?]

[ Yes, two things. It makes Izuku jolt a little as he's like "was that a fish? seaweed? oh it's just Kacchan - wait it was Kacchan?!" and goes through a whole mental debacle in two seconds, but also it makes the lights in the coral change.

Brighter, definitely. Stronger. But the colors go warmer, too, with starbursts of orange. ]

[Ah shit. He immediately kicks himself for not having pinched him on the side or something. Really make him jump. Now he'll just figure it was him. Fuck. Katsuki shoves the idea away as he watches the colors brighten.

Yeah yeah yeah, he knows what they want. But like hell is he going to bang in the middle of the damn ocean.

Still, the increased light is nice (and he takes his finger away for double check).]

[ Taking the finger away remove the orange starbursts, fading back to green and blue low-lights, shot through with little bits of pink... ]

Touch somewhere else! [ Izuku's bubbly about it, but don't worry, Katsuki: he's not planning to bang or anything, either. He just wants to know if different points of contact do different things. ]

[Oh shit is this fucking color coded to them now?! He doesn't know if that's cool or kind of creepy... Then again, could be responding to the gems... hot colors, cold colors.]

[ Well. Izuku yelps with a kind of laugh...this time there are blood red little fireworks across the coral, and the pink amps up?

Izuku jabs Katsuki in the shoulder and there's a splash of yellow. ]

[Ooooh. So that's how this is gonna play out. Like those sensor light displays that respond to stimuli to do the light colors and shit.

Game on.

Kick in the ankle! Since this asshole's not treading water like the rest of the filthy commoners around.]

[ This seemed like the most fun option and also gave them a reason to have a water slap fight like kids. Not like they needed a reason. There's a snap-slash of white with the kick and Izuku shoves at Katsuki's head for some pinprick points of blue... ]

[When he shoves his head, Katasuki 'rebounds' it off the water with a snarl/glare/evilgrin thing. Okay, now it's on! No more slapping or shoving!

He slams both hands into the water and knocks an entire wave right at Izuku's face.

Water that fucking palmtree of a head you've got!]

[ Ack?! Well, the lack of contact snaps the colors down unless Katsuki's going to add some shoving - or is the water fight intimacy to them? Knowing these two idiots and how it probably harkens back to something nostalgic and not forgotten but instead shoved in the dusty corridors of their younger friendship...

...probably. Probably getting water splashed over his head and face like that as Katsuki snarls at him like some sort of feral yet smug cat is somehow a rekindled sort of intimacy. The kind you have with a friend when you're young and just turn to shove them in the shoulder because you're bored or restless and expect them to shove back or entertain you.

So the colors flicker out before coming back in bright little fireworks. Too far apart, dimmer - closer together or focused on one another, brighter. A little backdrop as Izuku splutters at the water that went at his face even as he snaps his arm up with just a hint of One For All for a "taller" wave of water to smack back at Katsuki. ]

[If they're not touching, it's not working, but Katsuki's much faster to jump on the competitive side than the intimate side. Why should he go holding onto Izuku if he can splash the fuck out of his face at the same time?

Fuck! Water! Katsuki jerks his head to the side to avoid the spray, then spits some of the water from his mouth as he bobs. Okay... that was supposed to be an end-all-be-all retort. But since someone saw fit to put a tiny hint of One For All in there...]

YOU'RE FUCKING DEAD!

[And blasts two handful explosions of water right at the other boy. HA HA HA!! He can make bigger fucking waves than you!

Boys, don't fight in front of the coral. You might damage it.]

[ Okay do they're moving up the scheduled fight - and yes, they sure might! Izuku splutters in the water and dives at Katsuki to try to tackle him under.

Because what is water safety? ]

[Oh hell no! He's not letting Izuku get in close range! Both hands hit the water and the PA-LOOSH afterwards sends him flying backwards across the water.

Yeah, they saw the glowing coral. Cool. Seen one, seen them all. THIS is way more fun!]

[ Well if they're using Quirks...

Is he watching out for Black Whip under the waves? ]

And yes he's watching for Blackwhip! He knows just how much Deku loves that Quirk and he's trained with him A LOT to learn how to control it, meaning Katsuki knows how to deal with it and see it.

He can practically predict the areas Deku'll come at him with it based on his position, directing he's facing, and how long the battle's gone on.]

[ They've been training too long...anyway: that whip comes up from below for his ankle along with kelp? While Izuku does a water attack above with way too much force. ]

[Below-- wait above?! Katsuki's caught in the middle. Oh fuck!

It's like someone went ACHOO and fired him out from the middle, letting blackwhip and water smash together where he used to be.

Okay, now you want the full deck, huh. Here comes a lightning bolt!]

Izuku yelps and drags them both up out of the water with float, although he thinks Katsuki might be immune but -

Well, lightning when it hits water kind of causes electrocution so he's trying to avoid that? ]

[Sucks to be you in the water, Deku. Katsuki does yelp when he's dragged out of the water, but quickly detonates another explosion to clear himself of Izuku's range.

Going to get some distance and set up an AP Shot to the butt.]

[ He's getting out of the water! To...hm. He'll jettison himself to shore. He doesn't want to be electrocuted and doubts Katsuki's going to worry about that (can fish be electrocuted? He has concerns :( ) ]

[Katsuki's already heading that way via a harsh explosion. only takes one to make it and he lands on his feet, skidding a bit in the sand like an action star.

Lightning strikes the ocean and doesn't light up the whole planet. It'll be fine.]
