I saw Dabi when I got here, we didn't know each other because of the mist. My father either doesn't know, or didn't want to tell me and I wasn't going to be the one to tell him, either.

[Admittedly, the violence isn't anything but endearing at times. It's just how Bakugo is and Shoto doesn't live in the world where he's going to deny that Bakugo's very capable of those things. The fight will be fun none the less.

That's more like it.

[That's what he wants to hear. Clashing with Shoto's been something he wanted and got robbed of, and never had a chance to meet him in battle again. The one guy who's Quirk actually made him stop for a second in his life and wonder just how strong it was (student-wise). Yeah, he's gonna fucking enjoy this.

They can talk about the classes later. Right now, there are some updates to deal with and he frowns at the phone in response.]

Great. If he tries to do what he's always aimed to do, he's gonna get fucked over.

[That's something Shoto could echo. Seeing Bakugo at play in his class, at his level, at his skill, had he not been so fixated on just using his ice. Had that day not been such an emotional rollercoaster... Technically Bakugo deserved that win, regardless. But it's true, Shoto robbed him of a true win and that's not something he can make up for.

Maybe it's best to just get out with it, and get it over with. Yeah.]

He's my brother, Bakugo. His plans haven't changed but his anger, that could've been me just as easily. I don't want him "fucked over".

[He didn't "deserve" that fucking win! That was a shit battle, thrown because Shoto couldn't get his fucking concentration together! He never accepted that win and he hates it when anyone else talks about it as a win! It's only out of pure respect for All Might and those quiet words while he awarded him that medal that Bakugo didn't destroy the 1st place emblem when he got home.

But no, Shoto can definitely make up for that win. Might be more of a ethereal battle here compared to having a real rematch back home in another tournament, but it'll go far in balming that old sore.

You know, after he gets over Shoto dropping a bomb on his face.

Shoto gets an incoming video call and when he does manage to eventually accept it--]

[They'll get their fight, but not before Shoto is both bracing himself and accepting the video call, just as much as he winces at the sudden shriek of Bakugo's voice through the device. Once his ears stop ringing, Shoto sits down in his small room on the edge of his bed to shuffle back and lay against the wall. It's there that he nods his head, affirming non-verbally at first.]

Yes. My brother. Do you ever remember us mentioning Toya? Either the old man doesn't know it's Toya or he isn't telling me, but it's certainly him. He got angry when I used his name.

[There's no doubt in his voice, only pure shock. Because even as he stares at him and that defeated, maybe even guilty nod of his head, Bakugo's mind is already racing back through time. Dabi's voice, mocking Shoto by name when he captured that fucking marble. The man's obsession and rage on Endeavor, his ability to get to Hawks, the flames under his control, his eyes... he knew those damn eyes looked familiar.

No, he doesn't have all the pieces, but by the time all of that realization slams down into a neat little compartment, Bakugo doesn't really need much more "proof" in the matter. Shoto's words come back as well.

Dabi is Toya, Shoto's brother...]

I didn't know. I'm guessing someone that got revealed after Shigaraki attacked me and Deku. But Endeavor knows how the war ended; he's from that time.

If that was revealed before the war's end, then Endeavor knows and he's in denial.

[Bakugo's kidnapping is not something he'll ever forgive himself for, or his brother for doing. He's certain he did it specifically in front of Shoto just to see the emotions he could pull from him over stealing a dear classmate. Later a dear friend. There are things his brother won't ever get 'passes' on, but there's also the want to take responsibility for his own family.

Enji's just not saying anything at all, Shoto decides for himself in his own mind and sighs softly.]

It was. I fought him. We barely won.

[They're short statements but they're meaningful ones.]

I just didn't know how to tell you before. It doesn't change who I am, but it changes who he is and that he's our family's responsibility. I promised not to keep things from you and you deserved to know this much.

[While Bakugo's not out to get revenge on the villain for kidnapping him, there's no lie in saying he wouldn't mind decking him in the face as paybacks at some point in time. Probably going to come in at the nick of time and turn the tide in the heroes' favor, then rip off something badass about "that's for kidnapping me" over his shoulder. For now, he'll simply keep the occasional eye on Dabi.

After all, he's--now even moreso--related to Shoto, Endeavor, and Hawks. As for Endeavor's relationship with Shoto and the lack of informing him, well... that's their family shit.]

Doesn't matter if he's family on not. If he's gonna be a villain, you stop him.

[Simple to say, he knows, but that's the reality. Whether Shoto wants to do that through trying to reason with him like Deku would try, or ultimately knocking him down for the count.]

[A lot of people would like to do a lot of things to Dabi and that's his own fault. Shoto isn't going to provide a shield that the villain can stab in the back just because of it. And as a matter of fact, as soon as Bakugo's ill chosen words leave his mouth, Shoto's eyes look directly into the camera with a sharply unimpressed look.]

I've never implied I wouldn't stop him, or that I'm not going to if he tries something here. He's guilty of murder, thievery, battery and assault, unlawful use of a registered quirk, aiding and abetting a wanted criminal and I could go on. Don't mistake him being my family for me forgetting, or that I want to ignore what he's done.

[Ill chosen? Fuck that! He said those words on purpose because he wants to see what Shoto's reaction's going to be. A revelation like that isn't going to end up with the rest of the Todoroki's going "oh okay" and continuing on like nothing happened. Pulling punches, wavering on a choice, shit like that can happen when the enemy you're fighting turns out to be your god damn own family member! (Didn't you read comics or watch movies, Shoto? It happens.) But he knows Shoto's determination, so those words specifically slugged him in the gut. Bakugo's eyes remain narrowed on the screen.

Meeting the other boy's eyes with just as piercing a gaze as he hears him out.]

[Shoto's hand won't waiver if it happens to need to collide with Dabi's. It hadn't in the war, and it certainly won't here. That's why his resolve is as certain as it comes in answering Bakugo. There's more than a hurt feeling or two, but then again Bakugo's been far away from him for a long time. Maybe he's forgotten how resolute he can be in some ways, maybe not all but some.]

Then you should've asked, Bakugo.

[He's direct, but he's taking in a deep breath and letting it out slowly.]

[To change the topic again because he can see where this is going, Shoto adds:]

[Neither will his. But the resolve behind his hand has quietly begun to change direction due to his experiences with U.A. and his class. He has no lack of intensity behind his determination, but he knows there's far more going on now than simple heroes versus villains of his childhood days. He grew up a lot. If the question hurts his feelings, then he needs to get ready. Because that question is going to be plastered all over his face by the media when he gets back home. If not the rest of their classmates.

None of it malicious or doubting (from 1-A) but mostly wanting to offer comfort and support if his resolve ever does waver. At least, that's Bakugo's thoughts on the matter. They'll obviously do it with more tact than Mr. Social Grace just did.]

Would it have gotten a different response?

[Not just the answer, but the feelings that came along with it. He merely snorts in annoyance at the other comment, but lets it go in light of the question.]

[This is exactly why he's been afraid to say anything. The instant doubt and even if the question has to be asked, in any way shape or form it proves that it casts just as much doubt. When he gets home, he won't remember this, but the him in the here and now certainly will. What's done is done and it sounds like Bakugo isn't going to make a big deal about it. His hand runs back through his hair, messing it up before running his fingers back through it and letting it fall where it might.]

[There's always been doubt. Even in their classes, their teachers have reminded them of the dangers and have even asked (rhetorically and directly) if they're ready to face those dangers and make those hard decisions. Sometimes you can tell yourself you're ready, but when someone asks you to your face and you have to say it with your own mouth, it's not as easy to acknowledge it. Reaffirming your assurance and determination is part of the strengthening process.

Bakugo's not going to sit here and lecture him, but if he can instill doubt in Shoto simply by asking if he has any, then they've got some fucking work to do on weeding that shit out of him. You can't cast shade on a torc--

[He's quiet for a few seconds as he sends the address to Shoto through a private message.]

[Little does Shoto know that running his hand through his hair is sending Bakugo into a further gay panic. Both he and Midoriya would've been recommended glasses for thinking it, but it gets necessary with his hair as shaggy as it is. Just be glad he didn't see Shoto straight out of the shower with his hair wet. This conversation may be starkly different.

Even still, Shoto reclines and is trying to make himself understand. At least he'll have something to occupy his mind all night. His eyes tick to the phone and he opens the message, committing it to memory. Near would be proud. Maybe. Probably not he would just give him that look like 'u want a star' and the answer is yes. He does. He's doing a good...

It's his turn for his mind to screech to a halt and his eyes move from the address and up to Bakugo's face on screen. That is directly a compliment from Bakugo and certainly not something that Shoto is taking lightly. It means a lot to hear.]

I'll win for more than them.

[This is the only way he can protect his friends, too. They didn't need his protection, but this really is the business of his family.]

[GAY PANIC?! WE'RE NOT AT THE FUCKING DISCO!! ... Of course that conversation would be different. It'd be hard to hear him after Bakugo fastballed a towel around his face to dry that mop off. Before you run into a wall or something. (Do you need a hair trim, Shoto?) And there's nothing straight about Shoto coming out of the shower in front of him.

Bakugo doesn't give his address out to many people. Mostly the ones from his home and a few close allies he has here. He trusts Shoto completely with it, however, and gives it freely. As for the compliment, that's given out on deliberation as well. Because Bakugo's aware he's standing in the middle of two keypoints in the war back at home. Izuku on one side, the direct aim for Shigaraki and All for One. Shoto on the other side, the direct aim for Dabi and the entire Todoroki clash.

And he has to keep both of these fuckers from dying while making sure everyone involved is saved.

That's his win. 100% complete victory.]

[A great reference. While Shoto's hair may be longer than back home, he's gotten used to it. If Bakugo wants to deal with his hair, he can help him put it up in more than just some string. It's all he's been using.

But that aside, home always has them in a spot of bother and those decisive moments like having to just hope that your friends don't die, that they can make it through so that more people can either run or survive are hard. Bakugo has a lot of hard days ahead of him.

Shoto doesn't really say anything. It's more a small nod of his head and what could've been mistaken as a upturn of his lips that could've been barely a smile. With that, Shoto hangs up and goes to deal with his own private crisis over what to do about his family. At least tomorrow will be fun.]
