He's still a little mad about this, actually. That show of support had been so important to him, and even if it hadn't been made by actual support companies like everyone else's... ]

[ His one warning about not insulting the costume seems to have extended to implying it wasn't cool, so he's just going to ignore his phone for the rest of the night in a fit of minor irritation and filial loyalty. He's sure he'll feel better about it after a few hours or something, but it's aggravating to tell someone not to insult something and have them not apologize and kind of sort of (accidentally? his better nature wants to read it like that, rather than deliberate) insult it again right after.

He never minds when it's just an insult to him, but that version of his costume is also about his mother - and he usually only gets really truly aggravated when it's for other people.

...even his biting Katsuki's head off sounds sort of polite but that's okay. ]

[Well fuck. Katsuki's left blinking at his phone a few times. There have been plenty of times Deku's stood up to him in the past, but he's never been able to make much of it because Katsuki always bashed him right back into the ground. It wasn't until his entry into U.A. that he had the power to back up the spine he always showed.

It happened multiple times. Izuku had other friends to be with; he didn't need to tail Katsuki and put up with his abuse in order to get some sort of comfort out of attention---any attention---paid to him from the blonde. And it meant he didn't put up with some of the things he used to. Katsuki's not sure he's all that adjusted to a Deku who can and will stand up to him with the strength and conviction to back it up. And he's not willing to let his idol worship of Katsuki to get in the way of that either.

The times in the past Katsuki's gone "too far" haven't meant shit because Izuku wasn't able to stop him. Now... now when Izuku gets that look and the heat enters his voice, Katsuki realizes it's not going to be a pushover. He's brave enough to walk away. It'd always been Katsuki who had the power to shut the door in Izuku's face, tell him to piss off and leave him alone. Being on the other side of that is... very different. He swears he can feel the wind of that door slamming in front of him.

And no, he hadn't meant that teasing as some pseudo "test" for Izuku's growth. But yes, he had albeit-foolishly attempted that "made it cooler" comment as a compliment. But apparently it was insulting. Accidentally, ironically. He'd simply lapsed back into taunting Deku and landed on one of the other boy's rare active landmines. It's stunning how Izuku's angry dismissal was both polite and still managed to feel scathing.

Enough Katsuki doesn't bother trying to reply. He's left to lie here in the wake of his own backdraft. Apparently it's in their nature to make plans for something pleasant and then shit hits the fan during the lead up.

Dammit... That really had been fucking lame of him. He'll... think about this in awkward silence for the night.]
