Katsuki is a crude, arrogant, short-tempered, and aggressive person, tending to come off as an anti-hero, if not downright villainous for those not familiar with him. Many people’s first impressions of him are fear, wariness, discomfort, or antagonism. After being accepted into U.A. High School and experiencing several personal defeats, Katsuki has gradually changed into a less antagonistic person, albeit still retaining a lot of his unpleasant traits. Katsuki is unwavering in his aspirations of heroism and feels a hero should never stop fighting or give up, regardless of the threat they face, and that always winning is the mark of a true hero.

Due to the constant praise of his abilities and achievements as a child, his talents in many areas, and his powerful Quirk, Katsuki developed a superiority complex along with his overconfidence. He’s fiercely competitive, desires to be the first and best at everything, and cannot stand it when he doesn't win, leading him to lose his already short temper or, occasionally, sulk. However, Katsuki also values hard work and fair play, to the point of furiously refusing to acknowledge a win if he feels that his victory wasn’t earned by actual merit. He detests being pitied or looked down by others, holds contempt towards those that don't take him seriously, but recognizes the efforts of those that manage to put up a challenge against him.

Immensely prideful and preferring to act alone, Katsuki hates the idea of being protected or having to rely on other people to assist him, unless he is recognized as the unquestionable leading figure within a team. He earlier ignored his partners' ideas and suggestions for his own direct approaches, but his teamwork skills gradually improved. He now acknowledges the importance of his teammates, protecting them from harm and helping them if they are truly in danger, while simultaneously expecting them to do the same for him in return, even if he comes off as condescending.

Katsuki's not particularly nice or open with people who are on his side, or anyone really, but will act less unfriendly and sometimes even kind to those that manage to earn his respect. Because of his attitude and vulgar language, his U.A. classmates often react negatively to him, although they have come to appreciate his skills and warm up to his personality. Katsuki matures slowly through his time at U.A., coming to befriend some of his classmates and willingly engaging in social interaction with them, though remaining aloof and solitary for the most part. Katsuki doesn't care much about what others think of him, but highly values honesty to the point his brash candor is seen as rude and insensitive. He is never afraid of speaking what's on his mind and will notice when people are not being truthful to him, showing that, despite his anti-social habits, Katsuki actually has an excellent judge of character, making it hard to deceive him.

Katsuki’s not only very athletic and talented at fighting, but also very intelligent and extremely perceptive, capable of strategic planning and quick improvising. Moreover, Katsuki's grades are among the highest of his class (ranking 3rd place out of 20), evidence that he treats studying seriously. Katsuki also possesses surprising talent in other areas, such as cooking and music, even though he doesn't show a particular interest in them. Overall, Katsuki’s considered a natural-born genius, excelling at whatever he tries his hand at, with the potential to be one of the best heroes around.

Katsuki’s fragile pride has cost him victories and personal humiliations on numerous occasions. He, however, has furious denial issues and has difficulty accepting his mistakes and shortcomings and will fiercely deny them whenever they are pointed out. He can neither stand admitting he was wrong, nor that someone is growing stronger than him, as both risk his intense determination to be the best, revealing his intense underlying inferiority complex. Still, he listens to others’ advice, slowly coming to realize his faults and how to somewhat improve on them. But because of his pride, Katsuki never outright admits it, preferring to self-reflect alone and brood in silence.

Katsuki has also shown moments of fear and guilt, the former due to a traumatic abduction by Sludge Villain, and the latter due to viewing himself and his own weakness as the cause of All Might’s end. Still, despite this anguish, Katsuki has difficulty doing the same thing (feeling guilt or admitting respect) towards Izuku over he treated him, due to years of misunderstandings, tension, and pride. For all his power and success, he’s jealous of Izuku's growth and potential, as well as his popularity with the class. Deep down, Katsuki admits regrets over his cruel treatment towards Izuku and acknowledges that he bullied Izuku as an outlet for his own insecurities and weakness, something he’s now attempting to atone for it privately. But no matter how much he hates it, Katsuki acknowledges and trusts Izuku's abilities, and at least respect him as a fighter and a rival.

      « Suitability »
It might seem dubious whether Katsuki’s suitable for a game based on forming bonds with others. But that’s what makes him suitable. As his experiences in his own canon revolve around his pride being tempered by humbling experiences and realizing he’s not able to win the world on a silver platter all by himself, a world like Noctium that requires those bonds serves as a fast track for him to make those tough decisions. To suck up his own pride and accept the need for others or to reject them and endure the consequences of his own decisions and weaknesses

Admittedly, “bonds” don’t always have to mean friendships; trust and partnerships can occur even without, and rivalries and enemies have their own kind of bonds that can be just as intense as the lighter connections. Katsuki is very particular about who he forms bonds with, and this sort of attitude makes it more interesting to deal with trying to fit in a world that requires those kinds of bonds. His reactions to Synchrony will reflect all of that, as he’s not fond of being “forced” to bond with others, but will find out that it’s not the cliché friendships and sunshine he often disses it as being. He’s young and immature in areas, but he’s maturing and improving in his experiences, which makes what bonds he does form, friendships or otherwise, a greater challenge and a greater reward.

As for his Gembond powers, Katsuki has the utmost pride in his own Quirk and will always see the perks of his gem as secondary to his own power. But he won’t dismiss using them to augment his Quirk once he gets used to handling them. He’s still a teenager from a world of superheroes and super powers and despite his aloof attitude, the powers granted by his ruby are undoubtably “cool” and fit in his personality. He’ll take to them quickly enough, but expect him to be competitive about coming up with unique applications that only he can produce (he’ll try anyways) and push himself to get stronger. The transformations will likely weird him out, as that’s taking more “control” away from him, but provided the changes are still intimidating or fit in with his preferences, he’ll take to exploring them as well.

Being a hero-in-training in his world means that Katsuki will view the native gems and the world of Noctium as “extras” in his own story, but regardless, will seek to help where he can. Once he accepts he’s here to stay, he’ll take a hero’s place in the world and work towards helping combat this *beep beep beep* causing all the trouble. In the most explosive, my-victory way possible. While he’s not the greatest at rescue missions and chafes in any placement on a team save for “the leader”, he’s smart enough to understand his lot and reluctantly deal with it. Gripes and temper included. No matter where he is, Katsuki’s always going to be a hero.

      « Condition Upon Arrival »
Katsuki is being pulled from Chapter 286, in the middle of the Paranormal Liberation War between heroes and villains. Specifically, mid-fight against Tomura Shigaraki (possessed by All for One) after the villain shot out a series of spiked tendrils towards Izuku Midoriya. Katsuki had just rushed to Midoriya and checked him out of the way, but in exchange, bodily took the full force of the attack. Upon his arrival, Katsuki’s currently dealing with the trauma / exertion of the war and two gaping puncture wounds through his left shoulder and the right center of his lower abdomen. While the wounds are critical, he’ll be able to survive for a duration without medical attention, including seeing some battle action between bouts of weakness / unconsciousness, before succumbing to his injuries (as shown in future chapters before the war ends). Mentally, however, he’s arriving with a very aggressive mindset and will treat anyone he doesn’t know as a threat. Meaning he’ll definitely be antagonistic towards the rescue party and medical aid. I’ve taken that into consideration on his TDM threads. Confinement and restraints post-medical treatments are basically guaranteed until he calms down.

      « Abilities »
Explosion ~ Katsuki's Quirk allows him to secrete nitroglycerin-like sweat from the palms of his hands and ignite it at will to create explosions of various sizes. These fiery shock waves are highly powerful and destructive, often burning and/or shattering whatever they hit, with Katsuki himself being immune to them, save for some recoil. However, if Katsuki overuses his Quirk through repeated explosions, particularly large ones, he eventually beings to experience throbbing pain in his arms and shoulders and he risks damaging their physical stability. In battle, Katsuki prefers all-out offense in close combat, using his Quirk's propulsive abilities to close the distance between him and his opponents, followed by a bombardment of close-range martial arts attacks that are often started with a powerful right hook. He has also developed specific long-range blasts and narrowed the scope of the explosions’ area of effect as part of his continued progress with his Quirk’s flexibility. The recoil caused by the blasts can be exploited for mobility purposes, as he uses them to propel, halt, and navigate himself through the air at high speeds as a form of pseudo-flight. All elements of an explosion are part of his Quirk’s arsenal. The shockwave can be used to block incoming attacks. The noise can be used to distract, deafen, or disorient an opponent, and cover surrounding sounds. The generated light and heat can be used to blind his opponents and set things on fire, though both these aspects are constrained by the inherent speed and lack of duration of an explosion.

Enhanced Strength ~ Katsuki possesses a high-caliber physical strength, confirmed by his ability to use his Grenade Bracers without sustaining effects from recoil, whereas Izuku nearly dislocated his arm trying to do so, enabling him to perform powerful grapple-style techniques in his normal hand-to-hand combat.

Keen Intellect ~ Katsuki has proven to be extremely intelligent and strategic. While he occasionally doesn't have preemptive strategies like most people, he analyze his opponent's weaknesses in the midst of battle and can anticipate worst-case scenarios. Even outside of battle, Katsuki is incredibly perceptive, having deducted the truth about One For All by just piecing together comments and interactions surrounding related parties. Katsuki can seemingly detect people lying to him by just reading into their behaviors and expressions. Still, his short temper sometimes causes him to overlook crucial details and commit mistakes.

Leadership Skills ~ Katsuki has always been criticized for his lack of cooperativeness, usually as a result of his overwhelming ego that prevents him from following the lead of others. However, thanks to Katsuki's very determination, perfectionism, and intelligence, he is a capable leader should others decide to follow him instead, thanks to his efforts, adaptability, and superior skills.

Other ~ Katsuki is highly skilled at playing the drums, doing so at a school concert, and is also a talented cook, doing so for his family several times.

Hero Costume ~ His hero costume is composed of a tight, black, sleeveless tank top, with an orange "X" across the middle, forming a v-neck. There are two dots along the left line of his collar, indicating the support company that designed his costume. His costume also has a metallic neck brace worn with rectangular ends that have three holes on each side. His sleeves reach from within his large grenade-like gauntlets to his biceps. His belt, which also carries grenades, holds up his baggy pants with knee guards, below which he sports black, knee-high combat boots with orange soles and eyelets. His mask is jagged and black, and as it goes around his eyes, a large, orange-rimmed flare shape protrudes from each side. Somewhere within his costume is a communication device that allows him to listen and talk to others.

Grenadier Bracers ~ An adjustment added to Katsuki's hero costume, these literally-grenade-shaped bracers store some of his explosive sweat. Once filled, he can pull one of the bracers' firing pins in order to ignite all of it at once and release a massive, devastating blast. It has enough explosive power to destroy all parts of a building within its blast radius. The firing pin mechanism has a two-stage preparation to prevent the pin from being pulled by accident. The recoil of the bracer’s explosion takes a drastic toll the shoulder of whoever uses it, although Katsuki seems to be completely unfazed by this due to his superior physical ability. Additionally, as he mentions himself, the Grenadier Bracers from his costume serve to reduce the risk of physical strain caused by overusing his Quirk.

Improvised Grenades ~ Around the belt of his Hero costume are two grenade-like containers made to look like rudimentary hand grenades. These can be filled with Katsuki's nitroglycerin-like sweat from his Grenadier Bracers and then be used by him or someone else as regular grenades at a later time by pulling the cartridge and throwing them.

Knee Pads ~ These are blunt metallic attachments to Katsuki's knees, designed so he can "kill with his knees," but he has not yet used them for such.

Provisional Hero License ~ A card and document that allows hero trainees to use their Quirks for heroic activities with recognition from the law.
