That was my way of asking if you think you're going to be home on time tonight.
[The life of a hero, right? Since Shoto is his biggest fan, he understands the need for a hero like him. Not to mention the sacrifices no matter how much Shoto enjoys that time spent with him, too. Or teamups. He'd do those all day if they could.
Yet again more things that add up to why Shoto chose Bakugo. No matter how frustrating it must be to be with someone like him, Bakugo is dedicated to helping where he can even in their life, too. Who better for Shoto?]
I won't be late unless something fucks up with this drive.
[Transport details. So long as the truck gets to its designated site without an interruption, everything should continue on time. Of course Dynamight worked best with Shoto, but they couldn't always be partnered up for missions, with their respective Quirks and skills needed in different areas or with different partners.
But it's not just in hero work that he stays with him. Outside of that, there'd been no one who Bakugo felt close enough to. Fucking surprised the shit out of him when he realized he found the guy not only attractive, but also somewhat tolerable? Things kind of went from there and now... moved in and living together.]
Yeah. [That works. Somehow. Let him go with that instead of confusing him more.] What do you want to have tonight?
I know you'll do your best on both things. I'll be waiting when you get home, whenever that is.
[Working together is great, but times like this too, even if it's one of them off duty and the other working hard, gives them time to grow in other directions, too. Important enough for Heroes as it is. However, Shoto wouldn't change it even if he had the chance. Not for either of them and not just because of their goals, they do well enough making time for one another.
Dissimilar, but similar in many ways, finding out that Bakugo returned his feelings had been the pinnacle of his life so far anyway. Sometimes much above the todo about their job, too.]
Hmm. What about curry? I won't complain about the spices this time.
[It's annoying that seeing those words on the screen are enough to make the smile appear on his face despite the grumpy words he responds with. No one else is around, so he can show that kind of emotion. A softer thing that's almost always reserved for Shoto alone. Maybe the guy can "hear" it in his text, see past the normal facade and know what's really there. If he can... shut the fuck up and don't mention it.]
We need the powder and meat, but we've got the rest. I'll use the new kind of powder. Not as spicy for your little petal tongue.
[He can hear it. He can hear it from a mile away and he's learned, well before the years in school passed, well before all the things came crashing about, just to shut up and enjoy it. Bakugo shows he cares in other ways, that's all Shoto can ask for. Someone who sincerely cares about him, no matter the method.
...Like knowing that he has a low tolerance for spicy food and taking the hit on things that Bakugo enjoys just so Shoto can enjoy them too.]
Is that a challenge? I think this is one I'll have to bow out of. I'll make sure to get both kinds, then if you make something while I'm not home you can. I'm going to pick up some strawberries, too. We can have them for dessert. I overheard a coworker talking about a recipe that they tried. They were saying to the other coworker just as I walked in they would rather use them as a platter. I think we can just use bowls. It seems strange and maybe lazy when we have dishes we could use and just wash instead of trying to cleanse an entire body enough to eat off of.
[He'll never admit it, but he does care. Shows it in his actions, from taking care of his teammates (rudely) to making sure his boyfriend isn't going to fucking starve on tea and rice. Of course Shoto sees more of that side of him, since he's living with him and is often the main focus of Bakugo's hidden, softer side.
Just because something's not spicy hot doesn't mean he has to skimp on the flavor. And he can always add hot spice to his own serving, so it's not a big hit on his part.
He... has to read that text again a few times because it goes all over the fucking place. From rejecting a spicy food challenge to talking about strawberries as a dessert recipe to not actually given the fucking recipe to--HE THINKS--talking about putting strawberries on someone's body?!]
WHAT THE HELL KIND OF TOPIC TRAIN WAS THAT?! You went from spice dares to human serving platters! Who the fuck talks about that kind of shit at work?!
[While Bakugo's brazenly reminded of more than one instance of when he likened Shoto's nipples to strawberries resting atop the fair-skinned mound of sponge cake called his pectorals.]
[Damn you for knowing him too well. Or at least growing to be close enough to him that you do. It's annoying and he hates it at times, but most of the time finds it irritating-yet-relieving cause he doesn't have to actually SAY IT all the fucking time. Actions for him, not words so much.]
We're not eating fucking strawberries off each other! Don't even think about it!
[And there he goes with his big mouth, putting ideas in Shoto's head that he'll hate that likely weren't even there before to begin with.]
We HAVE spicy chocolate. Didn't you see it in the cupboard?
[Imagine feeling strongly for someone who feels the same for you. What a novelty idea for two people living together and otherwise committed to their relationship.]
I said we'd use bowls. Are you thinking about it, right now?
[Those ideas certainly weren't there moments ago, nope, but they sure are now.]
No, you told me that I was likely to turn the food sour if I tried getting ideas about it. So I don't go in the cupboard because that seems like a waste. Maybe we could put it together with the strawberries? Would you try it?
[He never thought he'd actually have to contend with that during school, figuring he'd be too focused on his schoolwork to bother with such a thing. And yet it obviously happened, with Bakugo falling for Shoto before moving forward into graduating and now living with him. Strange, huh.]
Bowls. Yeah, totally thinking about bowls.
[DODGING THE FUCK OUTTA THAT ONE! Gonna use the literal brain on the other end to his advantage for once.]
Warning still stands. [Food knows the master and the fool. Don't let Shoto near the pears; they will ripen past peaks in a second just to spite him.] If you want chocolate-dipped strawberries, I can make some for you.
[Of course they're "not friends" whenever it comes up! But Bakugou has stated, succinct and rudely, that Shoto's his boyfriend. More like when someone was getting all up and close to him, the blonde shoved an exploding hand between them and warned the guy to "Get away from my boyfriend" without giving a shit it was caught on camera.
So... yeah. (The phone call he got from his mother later was UUUUUGH!!) Anyways.]
I'm thinking of bowls now, dammit!
I'll coat yours thinly. Or just use normal chocolate. You don't have to burn your damn tongue for me, Half-n-Half.
[Therein yet another reason. Shoto sometimes doesn't know when people are hitting on him. He's gotten better at recognizing some of the ones he's already been through in his outofschool years but. Bakugo knows. Plus. That means that Shoto has on video the moment that Bakugo told everyone. It's something he enjoys to keep and watch to this day.
His mother is a sweet lady how dare.]
Alright. I trust you wouldn't lie to me and you have a good idea. I still might try the spicy ones so make one extra from that batch?
[Big surprise there. Bakugo already knew about that one. Shoto's more or less been in the safety of UA while he was growing into the hero he wanted to be. But once out of it, in the real world, with society repairing itself and some, not all, but some of the previous bad habits showing back up (egotistical reporters and shit), it'd only been a matter of time before the unsavory attention was called onto his admittedly-gorgeous boyfriend.
Finally it pissed him off enough he slammed down the proverbial gauntlet and told the rest of the entire fucking world to back the fuck off. Shoto Todoroki is his and y'all can shut the fuck up and die!
DON'T CALL HER 'SWEET'!!]
Spelling it out like that is real suspect, Shoto... I'll make a bunch.
[And adds some things to the list he texted earlier.]
[Yeah. To absolutely no one's surprise no matter how Shoto tries to anticipate society past what he's been taught, he doesn't have all the capabilities when it comes to social interaction. Fight him on the stages or meet him on a battlefield and things are different, but without Bakugo there he probably never would've understood until it was just too awkward for both of them and left. Thankfully, much better things came of it. He's not the only good looking one, though. Shoto is his and never won't be his.
She's sweet. Deal with it.]
Oh? Is it?
[Can Bakugo read the sarcasm? He knows. Bakugo can't see the soft, very obvious smile on his face to see his first name. It's something he likes more than he says, just so that Bakugo doesn't feel put off saying it when he does. Or typing it.]
Yes. Text me when you're on your way home. Take your time and be safe.
[Bakugo's well aware of that and after things began to thicken between them, he looked out more for Shoto personally, instead of leaving it to Deku and others to do it. Watching him when the reporters came, eyes narrowed as his growing legion of fans began to follow him, insisting on being there when the other boy was called out for a modeling shoot (because why the hell would one of Japan's Hottest Heroes NOT be asked to model underwear almost as soon as he turned 18?), and others. Until finally, when their relationship went "click" into official and Bakugo immediately went from "guardian" to "GUARD DOG" with all of that. Modeling's fine, so long as the camera doesn't start asking for his boyfriend to "show a little more skin".
He blew up one of the red-white speedos they wanted Shoto to wear. Obvious enough answer?]
Wow, sarcasm lessons are working out.
[He recognizes when Shoto does it. Despite his sometimes inability to "get" sarcasm, the guy can toss it unconsciously well, and consciously other times. As for that name, sometimes it slips out, and sometimes it doesn't.]
[All that in mind and it's never been a falsity that Shoto has trusted what Bakugo said. Even if other people, yes, tried to look out for him their gentle proddings never help him set boundaries like the loud, booming "Are you a fucking moron?"-esque retorts usually did. Bakugo's just always had a way with things that Shoto appreciates. There's no guess work, mostly.
Should've just kept them for later. These days, the only 'more skin' that anyone gets to see is Bakugo. Shoto doesn't mind shirtless, but anything else or too revealing and he feels like it's infringing on his relationship. Which as much as endorsements are great, he wouldn't want to trade for them.]
I've been practicing.
[The smile turns into a small smirk.]
When you're too busy rightfully kicking someone's ass. Then I get to see it on TV. Speaking of, I'm going to have the day off for your interview. I arranged it so I can be there in the audience.
[Some people would give Shoto a weird look for appreciating that kind of insulting explosion questioning his understanding of whatever situation the blonde was railing at him about. It made some of the interviews really strange, considering Bakugo would still yell at Shoto despite it being known they were a dating couple. No one asked him on air, but a few times some people asked the Half-Cold, Half-Hot hero how he put up with it.
At most Bakugo's find with boxer brief modeling and swim trunk modeling. He's done modeling gigs as well, and should Shoto have objections to something Bakugo either doesn't know or didn't catch, the blonde defers to his boyfriend. If Shoto's not comfortable with him wearing that cause it's infringing, then Bakugo's no fucking wearing that. Simple.]
How? One-lining yourself in the fucking mirror?
[There's a hilarious (and stupid) mental image.]
YOU STILL GET TOLD! Ugh, fucking hate those things. They still keep bitching about my language or my image. Least Denim Head's eased on me.
[While his mentor continues to facepalm in frustration over his chosen protege's continue abrasive nature.]
[Anyone who already didn't know how to "put up" with Bakugo didn't deserve to know him. It's learning to understand him that was momentarily difficult, but everything he does or says just has a veneer under the rough parts instead. As long as someone takes that time to see through it, he's certainly worth it. If anyone asks him, his answer is the same: "I don't put up with him". He doesn't, that is his boyfriend and whom he has chosen to be with. He adores every moment.
Even ones being asked how he practices sarcasm. And definitely the modeling jobs that he's done. There's very little he would say no to as long as Bakugo maybe enjoyed private try on sessions at home, too.]
Watching American and British movies.
Yes, I do. You're busy in the moment, though and I'd rather you concentrate on that than worry that I won't know until a bit later you'll have to be late. If they get upset about whatever you say, then they didn't know who they were interviewing and I find that highly doubtful. Besides, your fans enjoy you as you are. I know I do. I think you do great on TV.
[His response has certainly caught plenty of questioners off guard, but if they take some time to think about it, the answer makes a lot of sense. Bakugo usually doesn't have to answer much about Shoto because he's made it clear he doesn't talk about his boyfriend. Questions regarding the other hero are usually met with a snappy "Fucking ask him yourself!" and storming off. So long as that questioning doesn't take too long because Bakugo's not going to let some damn interview or nosy fan keep him from any kind of plans he's already made with the other hero.
Okay so... there may have been a number of private "try on" sessions at home. How else are they going to know neither wants the other to go strutting in that stupid speedo without at least checking it out in private... Yeah, only Bakugo gets to see Shoto in that kind of risque covering.]
That's gonna fuck you your vocabulary.
[Try not to adopt too many cuss words learning English from those movies... The American ones at least]
How about I DON'T tell you I'm gonna be late, so if the fucking thing goes over, I have an excuse to walk the fuck outta there because I've got a date to keep!
THEY KEEP CENSORING ME, DAMMIT!!
[Yeah, cause there's an obscenity law, Bakugou. Sheesh. The networks can't do anything about that.]
[Shoto, mainly, doesn't care what people think of him dating Bakugo. They're not the ones that run his life, no one but him runs his life. Not even Bakugo if the youngest Todoroki wants to dig his heels in and be a brat. He just finds no reason to and is on board with things not taking that long. Finding days off is hard when it's both of them and for full days enough to go out. They both have little choice to stop for their fans and public but it's easier to avoid if they can.
With how good Bakugo looks in everything he's brought home, Shoto hopes he never skimps on the clothing endorsements. He will continue to do the same considering the outcome it usually brings.]
It's just reinforcement. I'll be careful, though.
[Yet again, Bakugo worrying for him. Best boyfriend.]
A good idea, but you wouldn't. You're a dedicated hero and one of the best. Though, that isn't a lie if you told them. I'd like it to be a date. We haven't been on a date in a while.
They do. It's unfair but they also will have to maybe come half way and meet you with a bleeper button. Really it's not much to ask. No matter what they do, I'll be there.
Edited (We don't talk about my HTML fail.) Date: 4/15/22 06:54 (UTC)
[There've been times, plenty of them, when Shoto's dug his heels in like that. Sometimes it's turned into arguments between them, but each time they've managed to come out of it well enough. Learning to live with someone else and love them is not as easy as some of those shit movies his mom used to watch makes it seem. Made even more difficult with their heroic lives taking a lot of their time away from each other. Nature of the damn game and all. Still, a pain in the ass if he's honest. The times the do get off is worth the effort at least.
It's not like he brings him a lot of risque stuff. There have been suits, summer wear, athletic wear, even school uniforms (ironically enough). Most of it's been hella fun at least.]
Uh-huh. You better.
The hell I wouldn't! A date with you is more important than some fucking interview going into overtime!
[He sure would walk off the set once the time was up. Did it before (hadn't been the best PR but you know...) Shoto's the better choice.]
Why the hell HAVEN'T they used a fucking bleeper button instead of whacking my entire damn segments out?!
[Every relationship has its ups and downs and no matter what the tiff might be, Shoto never finds any reason for it to be game ending. He can't pinpoint the moment he started to love Bakugo with not understanding it at first, but he does. Their lives aren't made easy by being heroes, but at least both of them understand the overarching problems and both of them have those overarching problems.
To be real, just seeing Bakugo in nice outfits? That's enough for Shoto sometimes. Nice outfits on the floor, too, are just as good. Except that uniform, that one can hang around. Save for seeing him come home battle torn, but safe, is another. Best not to dwell on it, Shoto still has to go to the store and Bakugo is out.]
I'm getting in the car. If I run a red light, does that mean you'd have to come stop me? Then you'd have more excuses.
[That's why Shoto's going to stay in the audience, Bakugo deserves the recognition that he works hard for and there's no reason not to stay around if Shoto is right there, silently cheering him on. Number one fan for the hero who would always be number one to him.]
I'm not sure. You might want to talk to your booking agent and find out, I think it would be beneficial. It's not that everyone doesn't already know your vocal habits. If you find that they're insufficient as an agent I can recommend a few.
[Not really worth trying to pinpoint the exact moment, though there are times Bakugo can recall when he started to notice things or think differently about the other boy. Frustrating times cause he couldn't fucking believe he just thought that about fucking Half-n-Half. But more and more happened and despite some attempts to resist it or deny it, eventually the truth came out and now all this.
Heh, nice outfits on the floor. It's probably not surprising a lot of their clothes try on's together end up with a working on improving skills regarding taking said clothes off. And having to wash them afterwards some other times. Like the fucking school uniforms. Sometimes their hero costumes also get roughed up... not just in battle, but in post-battle impatient stress relief.]
DON'T FUCKING DO THAT, YOU MORON! You want points on that brand new license of yours?!
[If he were there in person, Bakugo would've smacked him upside the head. Dumbass... As for Shoto in the audience, it has helped a few times, kept him more calm and not as ready to rage. But it's always a trigger risk for the blonde's attitude during interviews. Go figure.]
My agent's fucking fine. Denim Head's got shit worked out. If the networks can't handle it, that's their god damn problem. They're the ones that keep calling me back in.
[No, it isn't. All that really truly matters is the feelings that are now and the nostalgia can just happen on its own. He loves Bakugo and that's all that matters. Though, the past is nice to think about once in a while, their future and present is what Shoto is more concerned with.
The hero costumes likely get a good work out that isn't even villain chasing on stressful missions or stressful times. That's for sure. The get through the door/pin to the door is strong when you barely make it out of something alive and unscathed.]
If I explained I missed you they couldn't convict me, could they? They could. I know. I won't run any lights, I don't want to attract attention to myself either. I'll be slow responding, I'm going to drive soon.
[True to form he's driving so it's not until he stops that he's looking at his phone either.]
They should. You are an inspiration to a lot of young heroes.

Date: 4/15/22 16:53 (UTC)It's not like he brings him a lot of risque stuff.

Date: 4/15/22 17:48 (UTC)To be real, just seeing Bakugo in nice outfits? That's enough for Shoto sometimes. Nice outfits on the floor, too, are just as good.
Except that uniform, that one can hang around.Save for seeing him come home battle torn, but safe, is another. Best not to dwell on it, Shoto still has to go to the store and Bakugo is out.]I'm getting in the car.

Date: 4/15/22 18:34 (UTC)Heh, nice outfits on the floor.
[The pain of being popular.]

Date: 4/16/22 01:48 (UTC)The hero costumes likely get a good work out that isn't even villain chasing on stressful missions or stressful times.
