[he trusts denji to know when he's seriously intending to be angry or rude, and when he's simply being his curt self. but since he cares about his boyfriend (DUH) he occasionally makes a silent check. one day at a time is the best approach for this. it's rude to liken denji to an alley cat or something, but there are elements of that there. each interaction and experience that go beyond their normal current relationship level is handled one at a time. for both their comforts. if denji feels something is really pressing, katsuki wants him to know he can bring it up whenever he feels like it.
