[he didn't grow up watching hallmark movies, denji. or looking at romantic things. hell, his parents talked "romantic date" at any point and bakugou was out of the room grumbling about "gross mushy crap" along the way. never wanted to be involved with trading candies, giving flowers, writing poems, lighting candles, setting the mood for amorous moments. really, denji's ironically the more experienced in this than bakugou; the half-devil's gone on dates before.]
Duh. That's usually why people light them.
[oy! just because bakugou's not linking candles with romance doesn't mean denji's shouldn't give it a try in the future and see what happens! though he's right in figuring the blonde isn't a romantic type. he knows some things. girls get swoony if you give them flowers. some guys think going out to eat is a pleasure. soft music and sitting close together can suggest the want for... uh... anyways! bakugou's not a romantic, even if he could do romantic things by choice. just never had a reason or want to choose. (did you seriously go to gojo, the playboy?!, for attraction advice?! ... rip, denji.) bakugou's had some classmates talk about girls and dates and sex, but he normally walked the fuck out when that crap started up. it's not a topic he thinks he needs to discuss with anyone but the person he's with. private.
denji's hum and the way the comic moves suggests he's trying to accommodate what bakugou said. before finally passing the book over. he takes it with a tiny grunt of surprise, a brow arching at the motion. floating book readers might be nice, but now he's thinking there's something else going on. bakugou suggested a sleepover. denji suggested comic books... which turned into cuddling. someday the half-devil's going to figure out those kinds of "sappy" words smash against bakugou's toxic masculinity trait. that or the hero's going to have to accept denji will keep using those words regardless.
he flips through to the next page, but it's only a few minutes before his eyes wander off the page to the boy lying next to him. on his eyes, bangs hanging over his forehead and sweeping his eyes in a gentle curve, handsome face soft, the bags under his eyes at least having lessened a little over time. arm under the pillow to prop his head up, expression relaxed and probably happy despite the brow-furrowing confusion a bit ago.
... bakugou drops the comic between them and promptly rolls over, one hand pinning denji's shoulder - then back - to the bed as he leans over the other boy.]
You're pretty damn cute when you try so hard. [reading comics. cuddling. looking attractive like that.]
