Abilities

Overall Abilities: Katsuki has proven to be one of the strongest students in Class 1-A, earning 3rd place in the Quirk Apprehension Test, while placing 1st in both the U.A. Entrance Exam, having the most villain points, and the U.A. Sports Festival. Katsuki's fighting style is an all-out offense, using his Quirk's propulsive abilities to close the distance between him and his opponents, followed by a bombardment of close-range attacks that often start with a powerful right hook. Katsuki is able to use his Explosion to propel himself through mid-air, blind opponents, and release long-range blasts, among other applications. Explosion is a versatile Quirk, especially for battle situations, as the recoil caused by the blasts can be exploited by Katsuki for mobility purposes and the light and smoke produced by the explosions can be used by Katsuki for interruption and concealment.

During the U.S.J. Incident, Katsuki was able to single-handedly overpower and immobilize Kurogiri, a highly capable villain. At the U.A. Sports Festival, he defeated Fumikage Tokoyami and Shoto Todoroki, who were considered the two other strongest students in Class 1-A at that point. However, it should be pointed out that Tokoyami was at an obvious Quirk disadvantage and Todoroki was emotionally distracted from their match. Many notable Pro Heroes, such as Shota Aizawa and All Might, have praised Katsuki's prowess, noting the sheer amount of potential he carries. The League of Villains also took notice of Katsuki's strength and went as far as trying to kidnap him so he could be converted to their cause, even if it meant sacrificing members of the Vanguard Action Squad, as his potential membership would have far exceeded the risk.

Katsuki is strong enough to fight toe-to-toe and even overpower Izuku when he's using 5% of One For All, though was pressured and nearly defeated once Izuku began using 8%. During the Joint Training Battle, Katsuki displayed that he can still fight efficiently despite his Quirk being weakened by the cold weather conditions of the winter season. Katsuki also became less insubordinate when paired with people and developed exceptional camaraderie, as he utilizes his abilities to repel opponents that overpower his comrades. When Katsuki discards his pride, his comradeship proves pivotal against any formidable adversaries they face.

Not willing to let Izuku get ahead of him and never taking his intended goal of surpassing All Might lightly, Katsuki is always building up his power, improving his technique, and looking forward to knowing what he is currently unable to do, with the intent of being able to do so in the future. Katsuki's unstoppable drive to win is perhaps his biggest strength, with all of his classmates, including Izuku, having faith in his ability to earn victories.

By the time of the Paranormal Liberation War, Katsuki's overall abilities and proficiency have significantly increased, evidenced by him single-handedly defeating the Trigger-enhanced Serpenters after a drawn-out battle, and even matching the speed of Izuku using One For All at 30%. Like Izuku, Katsuki has also grown to the point he can fight side-by-side with world class pros, such as Endeavor, Gran Torino, Best Jeanist, Mirko, and Edgeshot.

Enhanced Strength: Katsuki possesses a high-caliber physical strength, confirmed by his ability to use his Grenade Bracers without sustaining effects from recoil, whereas Izuku nearly dislocated his arm trying to do so. He's also strong enough to casually pick up and throw people of Izuku's size considerable distance with one arm, enabling him to perform powerful grapple-style techniques in his normal hand-to-hand combat. His physical power is even enough to draw blood from Izuku at 5% of One For All with a kick.

Enhanced Reflexes: Perhaps Katsuki's greatest physical trait is his fantastic reflexes and reaction time. He's shown on several occasions overwhelming his foes with his speed or completely evading all their attacks while striking back such as in his battles with Ochaco, Cider House, and Izuku (even when the latter was at 5% of One For All). Once Izuku began utilizing 8% of his true power, Katsuki was quickly pushed back and nearly unable to keep up at all. His superb reflexes even allow him to evade a jet of carbonated water strong enough to cleave a streetlamp in two. Evading such high-speed water attacks is an impressive feat on Katsuki's part, as jets of water can cut through metal when travelling at 760 m/s (1700 mph), which is over twice the speed of sound.

Enhanced Durability: Katsuki is shown to possess above average endurance and durability. He's tough enough to withstand the blowback of his explosions regularly with only moderate pain. He blocked an 8% kick from Izuku without his arm breaking as well, though received a major scratch because of it. He was even proven to withstand attacks from All Might (while restraining himself), Nine, and the Serpenters, but not without large amounts of pain and enduring severe injuries from the latter-most opponents.

Enhanced Stamina: Katsuki has conditioned himself to fight on for long periods of time even when heavily injured. When inflicted with serious sword wounds by the Serpenters' (before and after becoming Trigger-enhanced) Sword Kill Quirks, Katsuki continued to fight on par with them, and only collapsed from his injuries after defeating the twin duo. During the Paranormal Liberation War, Katsuki suffered stab wounds from a 75% augmented Tomura Shigaraki's Rivet Stab Quirk but could still hold his own against several Near High-End Nomu with aid from other heroes despite the injuries to his internal organs.

Keen Intellect: Katsuki has proven to be extremely intelligent and strategic, but his short temper sometimes gets the best on him, causing him to overlook crucial details and commit mistakes. While he occasionally doesn't have preemptive strategies like most people, he does analyze his opponent's weaknesses, such as when he realized Fumikage's weakness to light during the U.A. Sports Festival in the midst of battle, and can anticipate worst-case scenarios. Even when fighting the weaker villains during the Unforeseen Simulation Joint, Katsuki quickly assessed which of the attacking villains were the most dangerous threat in the long term, and eventually figured out a way to incapacitate Kurogiri, one of the invasion's leaders. Katsuki also identified Kurogiri's neck armor as his weak point and bound the mist villain's body to hinder his escape, effectively trapping the League of Villains in the U.S.J. until Nomu intervened. When being warned of a monster attack by Katsuma Shimano, Katsuki was able to deduce that it was merely an illusion cast by Mahoro Shimano because it lacked a shadow. On the first day of the Remedial Exam, Katsuki realized that one of Masegaki Primary School students was secretly acting as the mastermind behind the children's misconduct, and soon identifies the perpetrating student towards the end of the day. Even outside of battle, Katsuki is incredibly perceptive, having deducted the truth about One For All by just piecing together comments and interactions surrounding Izuku Midoriya, All Might, and even All For One. Katsuki can seemingly detect when people are lying to him by just reading into their behaviors and expressions, such as discerning Yo Shindo's congenial facade.

Leadership Skills: Katsuki has always been criticized for his lack of cooperativeness, usually as a result of his overwhelming ego that prevents him from following the lead of others. However, thanks to Katsuki's very own determination, perfectionism, and intelligence, he is a capable leader should others decide to follow him instead. During round four of the Joint Training Battle, Setsuna Tokage admitted that even if her team had attacked him all at once, they stood no chance of victory. In the end, despite Class 1-B's exceptional teamwork and Setsuna's strategic planning, they failed to capture a single member of Class 1-A, mostly thanks to Katsuki's efforts, adaptability, and superior skills. More impressively, Katsuki's judicious forethought, allowed his team to secure victory in less than 5 minutes. Though he may not realize it, Katsuki is one of the main motivators of Class 1-A alongside Izuku, thanks to his power and indomitable drive to win.

Cooking Skill: Katsuki is surprisingly adept in culinary practice, being able to cut vegetables very quickly and with ease, as well as spotting how Shoto hadn't cut chives properly and scolding him for it. Katsuki has been shown cooking for his family and classmates on multiple occasions, though usually because his pride demands it than out of genuine desire.

Musical Talent: Katsuki is highly skilled at playing the drums, having gone through classes in the past.

Technical Skill: Katsuki possesses some degree of technical skill. He pinpointed the location of the Humarise base by combining the two digital world maps of Trigger Bombs and narrowing it down to a location that wasn't specified by Humarise, as well as finding the Trigger Bomb control system. He also had the experience to recognize filtering the files by their modification time would allow them to find the most recent ones and narrow down the search time.

Quirk

Explosion (爆破 Bakuha): Katsuki's Quirk allows him to secrete nitroglycerin-like sweat from the palms of his hands and ignite it at will to create explosions of various size and strength. Through either one of his palms, Katsuki creates fiery shock waves that are highly powerful and destructive, often burning and/or shattering whatever they hit, with Katsuki himself being mostly immune to them, save for some minor damage from the recoil.

The more Katsuki sweats, the more powerful his explosions become. This essentially means that Katsuki's blasts gradually grow in power the longer he fights, since he naturally sweats more through ongoing physical activity. During the Paranormal Liberation War, Katsuki's Quirk undergoes an Awakening, allowing him to fire off multiple, more condensed and powerful explosions at once, which he later honed into his Ultimate Move, Cluster.

While temporarily wielding One For All during his and Izuku's fight against Nine, Explosion gained a massive power boost, becoming so powerful that standard blasts from it could create enormous craters and the temperature of the explosions increased to the point where it could melt through solid rock in a similar manner to lava as Katsuki came into close proximity to it.

Despite its power, Explosion has notable weaknesses. If Katsuki overuses his Quirk through repeated explosions, particularly large ones, he eventually begins to experience throbbing pain in his arms and shoulders, and risks damaging the physical stability of his arms. Additionally, creating explosions with both arms at the same time causes their overall strength to disperse between both limbs, leading to individually weaker blasts, though likewise lessens the recoil damage he takes on individual arms.

Since Explosion is fueled by his sweat, Katsuki can run the risk of dehydrating himself if he secretes too much sweat for his body’s natural water content to compensate for. Similarly, since he’s limited to producing explosions from only his hands, which are where his Quirk Factor resides, it goes without saying that Katsuki will be unable to utilize his Quirk if he loses said hands or his arms. Immobilizing or redirecting his hands can limit his ability to use his Quirk, and while he’s mostly immune to his Quirk, that’s only from behind the proverbial barrel, meaning turning his own blasts back on him can damage him.

Explosion is also affected by external conditions. In cold weather, Katsuki’s nitroglycerin-like sweat requires a slightly longer time to detonate, as opposed to warm weather, where conditions are optimal for ignition. Similarly, in rain or water, the added liquid can wash away some of his sweat before he’s able to detonate it, reducing his available ammunition, but also making it far easier for him to rehydrate.

Katsuki is very proud of his Quirk and has a strong grasp on its applications, something that was acknowledged by Best Jeanist, a top Pro Hero. Katsuki employs his Quirk's impressive versatility in his fighting style, using the explosions for attacking, speeding up, dodging, slowing down. Not only can Katsuki use the explosions for attacking, the recoil caused by the blasts can be exploited for mobility purposes, as he uses them to propel and navigate himself through the air at high speeds. This allows Katsuki to approach his opponents via flight without giving them time to react, as well as evade incoming attacks even while airborne. When coupled with his fighting talent and intelligence, Katsuki can come up with new moves with little difficulty, and thanks to Katsuki's battle ingenuity and natural aggression, Explosion tends to be a very overwhelming Quirk for others to face off against.

In battle, Katsuki prefers all-out offense in close combat, using his Quirk's propulsive abilities to close the distance between him and his opponents, followed by a bombardment of close-range attacks that are often started with a powerful right hook. Katsuki can keep up his explosions continuously, long enough to break through Eijiro's hardening Quirk and negate Shoto's "Heaven-Piercing Ice Wall" for a short while before being overwhelmed. He also developed specific long-range blasts and narrowed the scope of the explosions’ area of effect as part of his continued progress with his Quirk’s flexibility. As another part of his training, Katsuki submerged his hands into boiling water to expand his sweat glands, then created chain explosions towards the sky to increase the scale of his attacks.

All elements of an explosion are part of Katsuki’s Quirk’s arsenal. The shockwave from an explosion can be used as a shield to block incoming attacks, dampen other offensive effects, or cancel an attempt altogether. The resulting noise of the explosion can be used to distract, deafen, or disorient an opponent, and also suffice to cover up surrounding noises (such as his teammates performing other actions). He also makes use of the light and heat generated by his explosions for multiple purposes, including blinding his opponents and setting things on fire, though both these aspects are constrained by the inherent speed and lack of duration of an explosion. The latter two elements make Explosion a natural counter for dark-based or cold-based Quirks.

Of special note is that Katsuki’s sweat retains its nitroglycerin properties even after it’s no longer on his hands. While Katsuki cannot detonate his sweat remotely once it’s left the general area of his hands, the sweat itself is still highly volatile and will violently explode if it’s ignited through heat/flame or impacted hard enough. Katsuki has no control over the size or strength of the resulting explosions, but has made use of this facet by flinging his sweat at an out of reach opponent and letting an ally cause the detonation. He can also store his sweat in containers or smear it on surfaces, which can then be used as explosives later provided it hasn’t dried up.

Despite having great mastery over his Quirk, Katsuki tends to recklessly cause unnecessary damage to his surroundings, and while it is a common issue with hero work, it may jeopardize missions that require more careful approaches. Over time however, he has grown to be more careful of his surroundings and has honed his Quirk to be able to handle more delicate matters.

Throughout his life, people frequently commended Explosion, leading Katsuki to develop a superiority complex and set unrealistic expectations of himself, which he wasn't able to live up to. As a result, he became arrogant and condescending to others and their Quirks, regarding himself as beyond their level in order to cope with his feelings of inferiority. Before getting into U.A. High School, Katsuki had the habit of using Explosion as a means of threatening and bullying Izuku and other kids. While he’s dropped that practice for the most part in the present, he still likes to use his Quirk to intimidate foes during fights, usually by creating miniature explosions around both his palms to augment his threatening words and expressions.

After a Quirk Awakening and further development, Katsuki has found a way to empower his Ultimate Moves by condensing and letting off a massive flurry of explosions, instead of one single explosion. Dubbed "Cluster", this technique can be applied to any of his already existing Ultimate Moves as a form of upgrade, giving them a boost in power. First thought to only be capable of being used in dire situations, Katsuki later figures that the best way to use it is to store up an excess of nitroglycerin sweat condensed into tiny beads, adding to the power of the already powerful barrage of explosions necessary for it to be used. The power of the Quirk that Katsuki had strengthened over the years reached the point that a little bead of sweat left behind from his Cluster was enough to restart his repaired heart and help complete his internal resuscitation brought about by Edgeshot after Katsuki’s near-death experience in the Final War.

Explosion is a close-range Emitter (発動 Hatsudō, lit. "Activation")-type Quirk. These Quirks contain abilities that allow the user to generate and possibly control certain things, or alter existing things around them in certain ways. Emitter-type Quirks are, by a wide margin, the most common type of Quirk.

The emissions of Emitter-type Quirks can have a wide variety of properties and abilities. Emitter-type Quirks usually require a conscious effort to activate, and some, even require large amounts of concentration in order for them to remain active. Emitter-type Quirks can also have various ranges. While some users require physical contact to use them, others can have much longer ranges with no distance restrictions.

While most Emitter-type Quirks users generally have a handle on their own "emissions", it's also possible for users to hurt themselves from coming into too much contact with their Quirk. In the case of generating substances, making too much too fast or for too long can harm the user, as they are using reserves from their own body, or gradually lose their natural resistance to their own harmful Quirk.

While some things produced by Emitter-type Quirks, such as the loud sound produced by Voice, have common properties, some are unique to the user, and thus have special properties, such as the ectoplasm produced by Clones. Those who alter the properties of things around them can also widely vary in effects, from molecular alteration to molecular destruction.

Some Emitter-type Quirks cause the users body to take on a temporary alternation. While such Quirks would normally fall into the Transformation class, the difference is that these powers require the user to take in an outside resource in order for the Quirk to activate, such as ingesting sugar or drinking tea to fuel the Quirk’s activation.

Ultimate Moves

Thanks to Katsuki's battle ingenuity and natural aggression, Explosion tends to be a very overwhelming Quirk for others to face off against. When coupled with his fighting talent and intelligence, Katsuki can come up with new moves with little difficulty, even having a few ready by the time he started U.A. High School's school year. The below are his currently-used and named super moves, part of his hero arsenal.

Explosive Speed (爆速ターボ Bakusoku Tābo): A close-range Ultimate Move with ground mobility and aerial mobility capabilities. Katsuki positions his hands in his opposing direction and emits explosions that quickly propel himself in the opposite direction. This technique generated enough speed for Katsuki to finish a 50-meter dash in just 4.13 seconds. He uses this technique while grounded to increase his speed & agility, but more often uses this move to maneuver himself through the air, granting him a pseudo form of flight. The move has also been translated as Blast Rush Turbo and Burst Speed.

Stun Grenade (閃光弾 Sutan Gurenēdo): A close-range Ultimate Move with offensive and defensive capabilities. Katsuki starts by creating a sphere of light between his hands that explodes into a large-scale flash. Similar to the effect of an actual stun grenade, the flash of light blinds anything in Katsuki's vicinity. Katsuki can then capitalize on his blinded opponent’s disadvantaged state. The move is also effective against Quirks that are weak against light, such as Fumikage Tokoyami's Dark Shadow.

Zero Distance Stun Grenade (ゼロ距離閃光弾 Sutan Gurenēdo): An Ultimate Move variation where Katsuki fires off his Stun Grenade at point-blank range of the opponent to immediately stun and immobilize them with little lasting damage. This variation was first used against Setsuna in the fourth round of the Joint Training Battle. The move has also been translated as Point-Blank Stun Grenade.

Howitzer Impact (榴弾砲着弾 Hauzā Inpakuto): A medium-range Ultimate Move with offensive capabilities. This move is one of the strongest moves in Katsuki's arsenal, which involves Katsuki taking to the air, and then using explosions to propel himself in a circular motion to create a tornado around his spinning body. The ensuing twister collects oxygen and momentum to fuel the subsequent explosion. When the rotation and momentum reach their zenith, Katsuki collides with the target and releases the enhanced aforementioned blast. Present Mic compared the technique and its effectiveness to that of an actual missile. It had enough destructive force to completely destroy Shoto's Heaven-Piercing Ice Wall. Katsuki has also shown that he can release the fueled explosion in midair without having to make contact with the target, as if firing an explosive tornado at his opponent, and is capable of maintaining the tornado's gyration even as he attacks, as shown during his final battles with Nine and the Serpenters.

AP Shot (徹甲弾 Ei-Pī Shotto, literal meaning "Armor-Piercing Shot"): A medium-range to long-range Ultimate Move with offensive capabilities. Katsuki stretches out one of his hands and uses his other hand to form a circle on the palm of his outstretched hand. Katsuki then fires an explosion through the circle, which creates a concentrated blast beam in order to keep the attack focused on a fixed point. By focusing the path of his explosions into a single point, rather than a wider blast fired from his whole palm, Katsuki creates a concentrated blast with reduced area of impact, but with enough power to successfully pierce solid concrete. It was developed during his training at the Gamma Gym.

AP Shot: Auto-Cannon (徹甲弾機関銃 Ei Pī Shotto Ōtokanon, literal meaning "Armor-Piercing Shot: Autocannon"): A medium-range Ultimate Move with multitargeting offensive capabilities. A rapid-fire "scattershot" version of his AP Shot, Katsuki rapidly fires concentrated explosions with reduced power to cover an area or target. He developed and used this technique initially with smaller explosive shots in order to avoid dealing severe damage to nearby human targets. Katsuki has shown that he can use this technique with stronger, more harmful explosions if necessary.

AP Machine-Gun (徹甲機銃 Ē-Pī Mashingan, literal meaning "Armor-Piercing Shot Machine-Gun"): A long-range Ultimate Move with multitargeting offensive capabilities. A stronger version of his AP Shot: Auto-Cannon, Katsuki focuses the power of his explosion into a single point before unleashing it as a barrage of small but powerful explosions. The pace is similar to AP Shot: Auto-Cannon, but this version produces larger rapid-fire blasts that carry more explosive force.

X-Catapult (爆破式カタパルト Ekusu Kataparuto): A close-range Ultimate Move with offensive and supportive capabilities. While in mid-air, Katsuki grabs an opponent with one of his arms, then propels himself in a spinning motion by firing explosions with his free arm, causing both him and his opponent to twist in a vortex. Once he gains enough momentum via explosions, Katsuki forcefully throws his opponent away with the aid of another blast. Katsuki can also use this technique to propel a teammate, granting them momentum for offense and speed for mobility, which was shown against Nine, where Katsuki propels Izuku Midoriya to grant the former more momentum for a more powerful St. Louis Smash. The move has also been translated as Explode-A-Pult.

Land Mine Blast (爆風地雷 Bakufū Jirai): A close-range Ultimate Move with offensive and supportive capabilities. Katsuki places his Grenadier Bracer on the ground and sets off a massive explosion into the ground, blowing back any obstacles surrounding him with the resulting concussive force and wind pressure. This technique was used to dissipate holograms and dispel smokescreens, usually clearing a large vicinity of lightweight obstructions.

Cluster (クラスター Kurasutā): A power up Ultimate Move with buffing capabilities. Katsuki condenses his explosions to become stronger and faster, allowing him to unleash a flurry of bursts that can be used in a variety of ways. Instead of letting off a singular explosion, he lets off a barrage of much stronger explosions, which can be applied to his existing Ultimate Moves as a form of upgrade. He describes the attack as being one he can do when he feels he's in a sensation of total crisis. He later figures out the best approach to execute the technique is by storing up several beads of sweat so he can create the barrage of explosions rather than just one big one.

Katsuki first used Cluster inadvertently in the form of a mobility move to instinctively protect Izuku Midoriya from Tomura Shigaraki during the Paranormal Liberation War, and again later on to help Best Jeanist. It is later revealed that Cluster was the result of Explosion experiencing a Quirk Awakening.

During the Final War, a more dangerous application (or side effect) of Cluster was utilized without Katsuki fully knowing it. By using his Cluster techniques continuously without rest, Katsuki puts tremendous stress on the sweat glands on his palms, causing the stored up sweat to be transferred to other openings of his body. While this side effect essentially grants Katsuki the ability to execute Cluster all over his body, giving him a tremendous boost in speed and power, it comes at the cost of putting extreme pain and further strain on his already damaged body, which can cause explosive damage internally.

Explosive Speed: Cluster 爆速ターボ クラスター Bakusoku Tābo Kurasutā): A power up Ultimate Move with aerial mobility and offensive capabilities. Katsuki positions his arms behind him and uses his explosions to propel himself forward in a similar fashion to his Explosive Speed. In this version, however, he employs the Cluster technique, propelling him to speeds far greater than he could normally achieve at a much faster rate, allowing him to catch up with extremely fast targets. Katsuki first uses this technique, inadvertently, during the Paranormal Liberation War to save Izuku Midoriya from Tomura Shigaraki's Rivet Stab attack, and then again later to arrive and assist the remaining Heroes in attacking the Near High-End Nomu. The move has also been translated as Blasting Speed Turbo: Cluster.

Howitzer Impact: Cluster (ハウザーインパクト クラスタ Hauzā Inpakuto Kurasutā): A close-range Ultimate Move with omnidirectional offensive capabilities. Currently the strongest move in Katsuki’s arsenal, similar to his Howitzer Impact, Katsuki creates larger explosions to propel himself in a circular motion, gathering oxygen and momentum to fuel the subsequent, more powerful explosion. However, by employing the Strafe Panzer support item and the Cluster technique in offensive combination, he is able to perform this move on a much deadlier scale, launching a spray of explosions in all directions and further enhancing the move’s destructive power.

Equipment

Hero Costume: Katsuki’s hero costume is composed of a tight, black, sleeveless tank top, with an orange "X" across the middle, forming a V-neck. There are two dots along the upper part of the X’s left side, indicating the support company that designed his costume. His costume has a metallic U-shaped neck brace worn around the back of his neck with rectangular ends that have three holes on each side. This brace also contains his collapsible Suppressive Heavy Mobile Unit: Strafe Panzer support item. Katsuki’s sleeves are made of tight orange-rimmed black material starting at the middle of his biceps and reaching down his arm into a sweat-absorption-and-transfer cuff about his forearms. These cuffs are covered by large grenade-like gauntlets, his Grenadier Bracers, which are green and striated like normal grenades and have large, functional silver priming pins and handles attached to them. The “top” of the grenades open to allow his hands freedom to move, and he wears a pair of green and orange gloves for both grip and protection. His gloves, bracers, and cuffs are exceptional at absorption and shock resistant to help facilitate his Quirk’s recoil and Katsuki’s battle style. Katsuki’s belt carries a set of grenade-like containers and holds up a pair of baggy black pants, with additional green straps around the waist and thighs for support. He also wears a pair of blunt pointed metal knee guards, below which he sports black, knee-high combat boots with orange soles and eyelets. His mask is jagged and black, covers his eyes and forehead beneath his bangs, and large, orange-rimmed flare shapes protrudes from each side, creating an “explosion” around his head in obviously reference to Katsuki’s Explosion Quirk.

Grenadier Bracers (籠手 Kote): The Grenadier Bracers are weapon-type support items used by Katsuki that amplifies Explosion’s power and reduces the Quirk’s strain. They were created by an unknown support company at Katsuki’s request via his costume designer. A specification adjustment added to Katsuki's hero costume, these literally-grenade-shaped bracers are a pair of arm-mounted storage tanks that stores his nitroglycerin-like sweat to amplify the power and effects of Explosion to their fullest potential. This modification was created so that Katsuki could release powerful explosions while minimizing damage to himself, reducing the risk of physical strain caused by overusing his Quirk. Once the tanks are filled, Katsuki can pull one of the bracers' firing pins in order to ignite all of the sweat at once, releasing a large focused blast that results in a massive, devastating blast. It has enough explosive power to destroy all parts of a building within its blast radius. The firing pin mechanism has a two-stage preparation to prevent the pin from being pulled by accident. The strong recoil of the bracer’s explosion takes a drastic toll the shoulder of whoever uses it, although Katsuki seems to be completely unfazed by this due to his superior physical ability. Additionally, as he mentions himself, the Grenadier Bracers from his costume serve to reduce the risk of physical strain on his own arms and shoulders caused by overusing his Quirk.

Improvised Grenades: Around the belt of Katsuki's hero costume are several containers made to look like hand grenades, usually stored two at a time on either side of his waist. These can be filled with Katsuki's nitroglycerin-like sweat from his Grenadier Bracers and then be used by him or someone else as regular grenades at a later time by pulling the cartridge and throwing them.

Knee Pads: These are very blunt metallic attachments to guard Katsuki's knees. They are designed so that he can "kill with his knees" but he has not yet displayed any such use for them.

Suppressive Heavy Mobile Unit: Strafe Panzer (面制圧重装機動 ストレイフパンツァー Men Seiatsu Jūsō Kidō Sutoreifu Pantsā): The Strafe Panzer is a weapon-type support item used by Katsuki that augments Explosion’s power by providing widespread omnidirectional covering fire. When activated, the metallic U-shaped neck brace worn around Katsuki’s nape deconstructs and reconfigures itself into a number of retractable dual-barreled machine guns that extend from the back of his hero costume and mount over Katsuki’s shoulders. Like his Grenadier Bracers, they use Katsuki’s nitroglycerin-like sweat as ammunition, seemingly stored inside physical ammo clips that feed into the back of the guns. Each machine gun is mounted on a jointed arm that permits the guns to move about as needed to aim and fire. The Strafe Panzer is used in the execution of Katsuki's Howitzer Impact: Cluster Ultimate Move.

Communication Device: Somewhere within Katuski’s hero costume is a communication device that allows him to listen and talk to others with their own devices. Further details beyond this have not been given so far, but it’s assumed to operate via radio frequencies and is located around his collar.
